Here I have a code to search a list if a word appears in a member information. What I want is to do a search if, in the phone numbers of members, one of them starts with 0 or 1 or 2 etc. ... How? I have this code to search on a word:

this is my first post in this forum! I guess my question is very simple. I just started with VB.net yesterday I want to search through a text string, and then count how many times a word appears. How do i do this? Is there some sort of function that i can use together with a loop of a kind?Something like the inStr(), just something i can use with mulitble appearences!

In the following code i get a warning at line 59:Warning 1: Access of shared member, constant member, enum member or nested type through an instance; qualifying expression will not be evaluated.and.. At line 78 I get this Warning:
Warning 2 Property 'SelectedCustomer' doesn't return a value on all code paths. A null reference exception could occur at run time when the result is used.
The program compiles and runs well, but i cant' undesrtand the reason for these warnings. Any Idea ?

In an Word addin, I'm using
this.Application.ActiveDocument.Words;
to get a list of all the words in the curret document. Now when I parse this list, I found the ,, . and are also in this list. Why is Word considering these words? I also looked at the word count in the status bar and that was wrong too, as for 7 words in my document the status bar shows 9 words.

I have a label that is supposed to display a word for 5 seconds and then move down the list in a text file and display the next word.I'm oddly able to make it work in random mode, but not going down the list in order.. random would be ok if used words didn't come up again.

View 1 RepliesI have a combo box that is populated with a list of objects (corresponding to all employee rows from a database that meet the criteria IsTech). These are not entity objects though, I have created my own class that stores the member values of each row from the DB. I have set the DisplayMemberPath to EmployeeId so the Combo box display the EmployeeId ( an integer ) member of my object. Ie. right now there are only 2 IsTech employees in my DB so the combobox displays the numbers 3 and 8 ( their EmployeeIDs).

At some point I need to update the Value of the member with ID=X, but I'm stuck.
Do I need to search for the index of that member using FindIndex and then set the value like MyList(index).Value=Something?
Or
Find the member itself by using Find, but how would I then set the new value?

View 6 RepliesI need to develop an application that can search through a book and list out all the pages and lines that contain a given keyword. For books that are split up in some other way, such as a bible which is split up by chapter and verse; they would be able to search for all verses that contain a certain keyword. Or alternatively, search within certain chapters and verses for a keyword. What format should I store the book into? Should it be stored into a SQL database? What format would be easiest for searching as opposed to easiest for storage?

I have a block of text in the txtbox1. I wish to input a word in txtbox2 and press btn1 and it searches the word in txtbox1 and a msg shows ez:word found.
I'm trying to build a page in which the users should be able to type a name into a search box, click search and the name will be displayed. My problem is that I also want them to be able to edit the name and update it, and this is not working for some reason. I'm using GridView and because of the way my search function works, I can't link the GridView directly to data source. What function do I need to add to make the uploading work, or what do I need to change in my search function so that I'll be able to link to data source a(nd have the upload function be automatic) ?
