I'm trying to create a way for the User of my application to Log Off, Shutdown, or Restart the PC.
The idea is that User can more quickly access these options from my application and if they choose, force these actions instead of waiting for the OS to respond.
Here's how I'm trying to do it:
CODE:
Log Off works just fine. It's shutdown and restart that doesn't work. From the research that I've done, the Consts seem fine and the function obviously works correctly because Log Off works. I am running the application as an administrator, so that should affect it.

What i wish to find is a message or the like that I can use to detect between specific 'shutdown' like events, ie: I wish to be able to find the difference between a shutdown, restart, logoff and sleep initiation.
The problem i have found (as displayed below) is using oClosingEvent.CloseReason the return types provide no further information other then the WindowsShutDown constant (the others are obviously irrelevant in this case).
Private Sub frmMain_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs) Handles Me.FormClosing
Dim oClosingEvent As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs

I have thought that it would be pretty cool to make Boot Snooze, iReboot and similar programs accessible from the Windows Shutdown menu. It would be a pretty neat way to interface with such programs. I realize that this may be extremely advanced stuff here, but I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this. I would prefer to be able to do this in VB.Net, but I realize it may only be possible in C++, if it is at all. I have tried Googling it, but, most likely due to the advanced nature, I have not found any good results (only "Add Hibernate", "Change default action to Hibernate", etc.).

Everything works OK with my VB program except, all of a sudden now, whenever I attempt to brush across a text string with the cursor intending to hilite the string I get an error message saying "Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express has encountered a problem and needs to close."Where-upon VB shuts down and restarts.

I was trying to use application.restart() to restart my application after downloading a new update. It seems to run into the problem where it is trying to start the new application before the original is closed so it errors out and never starts. After reading through some threads here I determined the better way to handle it would be
application.exit() process.start(application.executablepath) This didn't work and gave me what seems to be the same problem. I would also like to note this works fine when running the application through visual studios, it is only when I try to run this independent of VS2010 that the application never restarts.

On my program I am trying to make a ToolStripStatusLabel's text change to "connected" if connected to a network and if not connected to a network change the text to " Not Connected" then I don't know how to display a image if connected to a network or not connected. So if the computer is connected to a network I have a image that I would like to be displayed next to the ToolStripStatusLabel. And if not connected to a network, can the program display a different image? I tried this:
My.Computer.Network.IsAvailable=True(ToolStripStatusLabel2.Text "Connected")
My.Computer.Network.IsAvailable=False(ToolStripStatusLabel2.Text "Not Connected")

I've searched the forums but never seems to find an answer for this one.. I recently connected to MySQL database server "Automatically" in Visual Studio 2010. I want to know if there's a way to determine the connection state for "Automatically created" connections in Visual Studio 2010. I know how to do it for"programmatically created" connections but just want to know how on the auto-generated ones.
