Most of the time this works as it should, but sometimes it encodes a string and the gives an error on decoding it. The error message is: Invalid length for a Base-64 char array.

I am programming a service for a company that will log valuable performance data on machines that they lease out to other companies. It is critical for them that this information is as safe as possible and that it can only be read by us (a program created by us that is). I already made a trippledes encryptor that works fine but i still have the issue that a person can delete or move or corrupt the file if he somehow manages to get out of the operation software and gain acces to it.So my question is: Can i lockdown a file and make it as good as impossible to change the file or delete it other then by being the admin or the program that is generating them?

If I save the file attachment as Whatever.PDF i get the error that it was not encoded properly.I am using datadynamics active reports PDF exporter to generate the PDF

I have a utility that is a simple exe that is not installed compiled with VS2005 and works well. But when I upgraded to VS2008 the utility can no longer locate files in the active system folder. I have UAC turned off and am logged in as the Administrator and it still can not locate a file that I can see in Windows Explorer. The file I am looking for is PakMgr.exe.

I have an ASP.Net portal like application with multiple roles. I have placed the subpages of that role in its own directory adding a web config with an authorization allowing only that role. I have css and javascript in the root directory that can not get access inside the protected role folders. How can I allow these folders css/js to have access to all roles. Sorry if this is easy question I have searched but I am rather new to ASP.NET

The GetMD5Hash's method is using for to decrypt the MD5 hash to turns into the actual strings and MD5Hash's method is using for encrypt the strings into md5... However, the connection strings can be sniff the packets sent out. How to decrypt the MD5 hash and how to blocked the connection strings in the packets sent out??

A variety of files (pdf, images, etc.) are stored in a ntext field on a MS SQL Server. I am not sure what type is in this field, other than it shows question marks and undefined characters, I am assuming they are binary type.
The script is supposed to iterate through the rows and extract and save these files to a temp directory. "filename" and "contenttype" are given, and "data" is whatever is in the ntext field.
I have tried several solutions:
1) data.SaveToFile "/temp/"&filename, 2

I have no idea how to import this, or the Server for MapPath. (Cue: what a noob!)

This works, but the file should be saving to the server instead of popping up save-as dialog. I am not sure if there is a way to save the response to file.
Im using VB 2008 express but dw any code i get ill just use the tool 2008 has to put the code in 2008.Anyways what im trying to do is make a chat program for about 100-200.How can i get a server on my comp so i can update the list of usernames of passwords without updating the program? This is my first time using SOAP with anything. I have an interesting situation, I have to send query's via soap to a secure server and get a response back and then import the response into a database. I have the connection to the secure server figured out and importing the returned xml figured out. I followed examples however I get nothing back in the service windows from the remote web site.

I was about to start with programming the socket class(es) when I realized that I have no idea how to make such a complicated socket system. I am trying to get this program to send an email, but still no luck. I am getting the following error that I do not understand. I do not understand what I am doing wrong. i am getting the error "System.security.permissions.securitypermission" when running the VB application in another machine. i have put the .exe file in the common path and i ran it my machine and it is working fine, but when i tried to run it in the different machine i am getting the error. Can anyone help me out in fixing this error.
