I have made a little application for me and my friend to be able to chat with eachother, but now we have some unclear strings as you can see on the image below:
I would like to change for example the username or time date to a color or make it bold, could anyone tell me how to change ONLY that and not everything? I'd love to have such a thing as it makes the whole application way 'clearer'.
I am currently working at an, as the topic tittle says, ListBox control, writed in pure GDI to inproe my GDI skills.The problem is the ListBox items (defined as ListeItm), i tryes to make the ListBox items to show up every other in two different colors.
To do so, i have created a boolean called "lf". When the ListBox item is created it checks what the value of lf the last Item got, and chose the opposit, but somehow, it is not working.

Quite simple but I'm having the hardest times trying to write something that'll do what I want. I have 1 listbox with 3 pre-defined strings each in their own index. I'm trying to search through a textbox to see if any of the strings in my listbox were found. So far I have no compatible code so I seek help from the professionals.
View 5 RepliesI am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.

Basically, I want the items that have been added into the listbox to be remembered for the next time the application is opened so that you don't have to re-add the items. When I am deleting an item from the listbox it is has to be deleted from Database, and that is all working fine.The problem is, even after deleting the item from the listbox, it is showing in the listbox, I have to close and restart the app to get the deleted item off from the listbox.
Is there any way to remove an item from listbox at the same time? I don't want to use timer to refresh is there any other way to refresh the listbox items???

I have a listbox control on my form that has SelectionMode as MultiSimple so I can select more than one item with my mouse. I added a contextMenuStrip to my form and added it to my listbox. It worked perfectly, all ive done to my code since is change the way the listboc is loaded / saved, it now comes from a .txt in My Documents rather than the C drive.
It now only deleted the top value of the group selected int he listbox and not all of them as it did before.
How do I disable buttons while there are less than 2 items in a listbox? I can't figure out how to do it. I'm a newbie in Visual Basic(programming at all)

I have a form that users record some event that is happening. They enter in what different things are occurring, for instance like a Basketball game. When certain events happen "steal", "score", "foul" these will get inputted to a listbox that records the whole game and is timestamped. However for these specific event i want them BOLD . It doesn't show the message box even when the character actually does exist. I believe the problem is that I never do add the item really. I just use, "Return Me.character," which is assigned the value of Textbox3. So I just need to figure out how to check Me.character before returning it.

I want to set a color on items and subitems being displayed within the listview control in a detailed view.Using the forecolor property setting would change the color of all the contents in the listview control. I know how to have alternate row colors with ListView. But how about with ListBox? I've run a search. I read in some web sites where they say you can't. Is that true? Meanwhile, I've done something like:

How would one go about checking a listbox's items for duplicates? Basically I need to write a program that displays the teams from a text file provided by my instructor, in alphabetical order. I can do that, but what I can't figure out is how to prevent the For loop from adding a duplicate team. What I'm envisioning is:

This works except that my listbox is filled with the team every player is in rather than just listing all possible teams. Not exactly looking for someone to just give me the answer, as I understand things best when figuring them out on my own, so I suppose a hint is what I'm really after.
