How I can do timer to do some different things every time?
For example:
*my Intervel is: 2 mins
after 2 mins (first time):
MsgBox("1")
after 2 mins (Second time):
MsgBox("2")
after 2 mins (Third time):
MsgBox("3")
and etc....
I am querying a db based on some conditions and then I am putting these data in a text file. This is done by a for Loop. Is it possible to have some message box telling that data1 is being copied, data2 is being copied, etc. Some kind of dynamic textbox, telling what is being done at the background.

I'm on winter break and I would like to get a head start on my learning. I've been working on creating some forms and message boxes. What is throwing me off, is that I have a good feel for doing coding so that I get functionality the will produce effects in a console. Coding the forms is a bit confusing for me. Is this something that others have run into? Is their some good primers for VB? I don't have my text books yet.

The problem:Sometimes message boxes in a console app close after clicking the ok button on one before all the messages are displayed. It is just supposed to display one message box after another. Same code as above, A message box in a console app will sometimes minimize to the taskbar before displaying all the messages after the OK button is clicked on The same code as the above 2 problem but in a Windows form app will display all of the message boxes, But.sometimes won't show the form at the end like it should.
The bugs I know happen when I run the programs from VB itself, don't know about the EXE outside of VB.I know it isn't my code because others have tried it and had no problems.What can I try to fix it?EDIT: Code for the one with the button and form:Public Class Form1

i hv task to perform in timer which includes msgbox of type YesNo it should stop to get the response (Yes or No) but it is showing msgboxes continously. i want the apllication to stop for response (Timer also) as it does in vb6.0 i hv attached the file(see it to get the exact idea of problem)
View 4 RepliesI have a very annoying problem and I'm trying to find the simplest solution possible, but I seem to keep complicating it.
My program displays a custom dialog box using the ShowDialog function (I create this form using a New constructor), but while my program waits for input in the dialogbox, my program continues to run other code, (I'm assuming initiated from other messages, but I still can't find good information on this, so as an aside to this topic does anyone have a reference about this), and arrives at this same point where the dialog box is to be displayed and displays it. So I end up getting a flood of dialog boxes.
My goal is prevent this excessive amount of dialog boxes. If the program arrives at this dialog initiation point I would like it to wait/pause until the first dialog box is finished.
I am trying to display a message box in VB.NET. This should be simple but I cannot get it to work. I have coded in VB before and used MsgBox("Message") but in VB.NET i understand its MessageBox.Show("Message") but i cannot get it to work. Its saying MessageBox is not declared but what do you declare a message box as?

The message box pops up fine but when the user clicks on ok to close the box, another blank box pops up. How do I get rid of the blank message box?

okay so I have a simple code to generate card picks and store them in numbers except no two cards can be the same so my checkIf functions checks it against the current list. Also no four a values can be the same since there are only 4 cards of the same type in a standard deck. Now the problem I am having is that when I run my code I only get two message boxes when I believe I should be getting 30 - (15 a's and 15 b's).[code]

View 5 RepliesI have added a timer control to a VB.NET windows form to have a message flash on and off between ticks. When I load the form I have the timer disabled. When i click on a command button, I set Timer1.Enabled to True so that the timer can begin flashing the message. The timer does not flash the message. I added a MsgBox function after where I turn on the timer. When the message box is displayed and I click OK, then the timer starts flashing the message. I turn the timer off later and that seems to work fine. I have tried the Timer1.Start() method but that does not work. Any thoughts on why the message box allows it to run but the form does not?

When one user send message to another I insert message in database, and set message status to 1( after user read message database I update and set message status to 0). Now, I am using system.timers.timer for checking message status, and if message status 1 user get alert that he has one message inbox. The problem is that this application can be used by many users, and if timer run ever 5 minutes this gone slow application and database.
View 3 RepliesA simple database has been created in Access, which is just basically a table of text, with some images as entries. A form has been created in VB2008 Express and linked to the database. Either a combibox, text boxes or pictureboxes are linked to a column form the database. The first row entries are all displayed correctly in the relavant boxes (except for the images, which for some reason aren't displayed). If another value in the comibox is selected, the other box values don't change and there is still no images visible...
