I have added a timer control to a VB.NET windows form to have a message flash on and off between ticks. When I load the form I have the timer disabled. When i click on a command button, I set Timer1.Enabled to True so that the timer can begin flashing the message. The timer does not flash the message. I added a MsgBox function after where I turn on the timer. When the message box is displayed and I click OK, then the timer starts flashing the message. I turn the timer off later and that seems to work fine. I have tried the Timer1.Start() method but that does not work. Any thoughts on why the message box allows it to run but the form does not?
I have created a VB.NET project that includes WebBrowser control. The web browser control navigates to html page that embedes a flash movie. Everything works fine except that when I want to exit the fullscreen mode of the video by pressing (Esc) key, it doesn't exit. If I view the html page with any other browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, ...) it works perfectly. You can download the project from the link below. The files are in the Debug folder.
Whatever project I'm making, I always encounter a problem with a Windows Forms Timer control, I guess I just make a little mistake somewhere... So I thought I'd post it here and hopefully someone here can explain what I'm doing wrong.
Good day all,A Flash movie that plays fine when opened in a web browser is playing slowly and choppily in my VB 2005 WinForm application on the same machine.
I am working on a Flash training video. I would like at the end of the video for a message to pop up with a dynamic confirmation code. I have the code for the confirmation code, but am having trouble creating something either at the end of the flash video or within the aspx page to trigger this message.
I have a timer in vb.net and it's interval is 1000ms ,. i have placed in it's timer_tick event a code that will print screen the screen and save it to a database. The problem is when i click outside of the form, or loosing the focus of the mouse to the form containing that timer/printscreen, the timer stops. As a result the printscreen also stops.here are it's properties:
generate member = true interval = 1000 modifiers = friend
I have application that use MSSQL database. Application have module that is using for sending messages between application users. When one user send message to another I insert message in database, and set message status to 1( after user read message database I update and set message status to 0). Now, I am using system.timers.timer for checking message status, and if message status 1 user get alert that he has one message inbox. The problem is that this application can be used by many users, and if timer run ever 5 minutes this gone slow application and database.
i have a problem with trying to get 2 forms to close at different times using a timer on each of the 2 forms.
This is my form layout:
Quote: frmMain Frm1 Frm2
Frm1 and Frm2 are identical to each other. FrmMain has 2 buttons on it. One button to call Frm1 and the other to call Frm2.Frm1 and Frm2 each has a timer. It counts down to 0 and then does a .close(). However, if i pause between clicking the second button they both seem to always disappears at the same time.I would do something like this...
Click on the first button (showing the Frm1 form)
wait about 10 secs...Click on the second button (showing the Frm2 form)they both are shown on screen...hen they both disappear at the same time.... which shouldn't happen since i clicked the Frm2 box 10 seconds AFTER Frm1... So Frm1 should hide before Frm2 does...but it does not.
I'm looking forward to reading and adding more to the community here. I've created a text based rpg. Next semester we are learning Visual Basic. I'm on winter break and I would like to get a head start on my learning. I've been working on creating some forms and message boxes. What is throwing me off, is that I have a good feel for doing coding so that I get functionality the will produce effects in a console. Coding the forms is a bit confusing for me. Is this something that others have run into? Is their some good primers for VB? I don't have my text books yet.
I am really confused! My program doesn't work if I don't have Visual Studio here in my PC. To test it I have uninstalled Visual Studio. But my program doesn't work though Flash Player is present there (I have used Flash animation in the first form).
To be more sure about it I have installed Flash. But it's not working! That means the Flash animation file (.swf) is not making a problem! It needs support from Visual Studio to start. Doesn't it mean that some files are not attached with a setup file as a result it needs Visual Studio to run? Let me tell you how I create a setup file of my program.

I am trying to load a flash animated game into visual basic to work with a program I am using. I want to be able to load the game onto different forms as it will have different chapters. How do I make the game part of a windows form?
how to enable flash for the web browser control? (Visual Basic 2008 Express) I have it installed on my computer, but the program isn't tapping into it for some reason..... I'd really like to know, as this is probably the only major undesirable my browser still has...
I am using combobox on my form as I want to control the aspect ratio of flash in vb.net, but I have no idea how to control them using with the combobox.
I'm trying to make a USB strobe light type thing. I have a cut USB cord with an led attached to the black and red wires. Now I'm trying to write a script to make the light flash on and off really fast. I've tried several different apis but none are doing it.
