VS 2010 - Unable To Load Referenced Library

Aug 1, 2011

All of the sudden, I'm no longer able to build a Solution without getting an error in VS 2010. A minute ago I was able to build, and now I can't.

The error is:
Unable to load referenced library 'C:Program FilesReference
AssembliesMicrosoftFramework.NETFrameworkv4.0System.DirectoryServices.dll':
System Error &H8013110e&

I've checked and the .dll is there. I've re-booted and grabbed the latest version from Team Foundation Server.

Unable To Use Task Library In 2010?

Sep 20, 2010

I just converted a project from 2008 to 2010. I didn't encounter any errors in the conversion.I tried to add HTML Imports System.Threading.Tasks. This gives the "...doesn't contain any public member..." warning and naturally, the .Tasks library is not recognized. Is there any trick to the conversion, setting in the properties, etc. that I need to deal with?Note that I have a "from scratch" project that accesses the System.Threading.Tasks class with no problem. Both projects are contained in the same Projects folder as in:

C# - How To Access Classes In Sub Referenced Library

Apr 22, 2011

I have the following projects:
TradingProject (my code) Has reference to TradingLibrary, and to ApiLibrary?
TradingLibrary (my code) Has reference to ApiLibrary
ApiLibrary (3rd party code)

I'm making several projects (like TradingProject) that communicate with a software through use of an existing ApiLibrary. But I want to push generic methods into a library I write: TradingLibrary.

Still, I would like to use some parts of the ApiLibrary directly from TradingProject. However, I then would need to pass an object (of an ApiLibrary class) into a method in TradingLibrary. Where the object should be recognized. However I assume this will be a problem, as TradingLibrary use it's own reference to ApiLibrary, so it will not be recognized as the same classes? Is there some way I can "forward" the ApiLibrary reference from TradingLibrary to MyProject, such that they will use the same reference? Or do I need to duplicate the classes and inherit from ApiLibrary for each class? Like:

NameSpace TradingLibrary
Public Class SomeClass
Inherits ApiLibrary.SomeClass
End Class

I guess that would work, if I do it for all classes I need, but is there perhaps some simpler way I'm not aware of?

Change Referenced Library Files During Processing?

Mar 7, 2011

I have a .NET customer framework that functions much like a Workflow. It uses reflection to get a listing of all of the processes it is capable of from a specific folder, and starts them via reflection with a known start point (all of them have a method called "Process"). Since these files are only called to do the processing and not part of the compile... is there a way for me to be able to drop in a new reference library (DLL) for one of the processes that is being updated without restarting the whole process?[code]...

Can't Access Class Library Methods / Properties When Referenced As A DLL

Oct 15, 2009

I've created a class library and built a dll (release build). I've then referenced the DLL in another project (I've tried several). I can see the namespace and classes in Object Browser and I can declare instances of the classes but I cannot use or see any of the methods or properties! there is no IntelliSense whatsoever and calling the methods manualy results in a 'Declaration expected' error.

Within the class library solution I have a unit test project referencing the class library project which works all works fine (and all the tests pass).

Can anyone provide any pointers to what might be going wrong here? I've built plenty of dlls in the past and have had no trouble referencing them at all.[code]...

Create An Application Without Distributing A Referenced Class Library

Mar 1, 2011

I am using VB .NET 2003. I have created a user defined Class Library and created a reference to it in my application. Is there a way I can compile the application so that the Class Library DLL is embedded into the application? I would really like to be able to distribute the application without having to distribute the DLL as a second a file.

In other words, I made a New Class Library lets say called TEST. I developed a new class within this library called MYCLASS. I built the Library TEST and created TEST.DLL. I then made a new visual basic project called APP1. I added a reference to TEST.DLL. I now can use TEST.MYCLASS within my APP1 project. The application APP1.EXE will run in the test environment, but if I move it to the runtime environment it will give me an error "File or assembly name TEST or one of its dependencies was not found". To correct this error I can place TEST.DLL in the directory where APP1.EXE resides. I would prefer not to have to put TEST.DLL in the directory. Can I easily compile it into APP1?

"Unable To Emit Assembly: Referenced Assembly?

Jun 1, 2011

I'm wanting to include a system tray icon in my WPF project, and found this resource:[URL]..which looks like it will work beautifully, but it's written for C# and I'm using VB.net for this project. I downloaded his project and built the notifyicon as a DLL, then added as a reference to my project.

It throws up an error: Unable to emit assembly: Referenced assembly 'Hardcodet.Wpf.TaskbarNotification' does not have a strong name So I'm trying to figure out the best way to proceed. Do I need to strong name it, or is there a better way to do this?

VS 2010 Referenced Component System.Core Could Not Be Found?

Mar 24, 2011

When my application loads in Visual Studio 2010 I see this warning. Everything runs ok in it as far as I'm aware but I'm completely ignorant in this area. Could that cause me a problem and is there a way to replace that component? There is also the other warning you see in the screenshot.

Quote:Warning1Namespace or type specified in the project-level Imports 'System.Linq' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases.

I did a search for the entire solution and it didn't turn up any Sysem.Linq anywhere. I looked at every Imports statement in my project and I don't have any Imports System.Linq anywhere unless it's somewhere where Visual Studio's quick find search doesn't see it.

Unable To Load DLL Into .NET?

Mar 20, 2010

I am developing a project that is dealing with CCTV camera made in china. I am provided by some DLLs from the company. Now i want to consume that dll into my application. I have tried default Visual studio's ADD REFERENCE features. then I have tried tlbimp.exe but it doesn't work.[URL]..I have search a lot about dll, some says "Check the dll header" and CLI Header. I opened this fine in notepad and I found only like "This will not work in DOS mode...". what to do next. Is there any way I can consume this file in .net.

I have already tried to add it as reference in Visual Studio 6.0 VB. even it says this is not a valis library.

Still dumpbin.exe is listing the function inside that dll.

I am confused about this scenario. Please guide me what to do with thi.

Unable To Load DLL?

Aug 10, 2011

I am trying to create a Windows Forms control in VB.Net to wrap around a control in an old DLL I created in VC++ 6. I am trying to make a call to an API entry in my control:

Code:
<DllImport("myctrl.dll")> _
Protected Shared Function InitMyControl() As Boolean
End Function

However, when I add a call to InitMyControl to my control's code and try to load the form on the test project, the following error shows up:

Quote:

Unable to load DLL 'myctrl.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

I have tried putting a copy of myctrl.dll into the Debug and Release folders of both the control library and the test project, but I continue to get the error. I even copied it to my WindowsSystem32 folder, but still no luck.

Unable To Load DLL After Publishing

Nov 20, 2011

I'm using VB2010 Express for a project that uses a DLL for USB communication to hardware.

I have the DLL in the project so it's included in the install. Everything's fine & the project runs in the development environmet until I publish. As soon as I do, I get the following error when I try to run from the development environment:

Unable to load DLL 'USBConverterDLL.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

I worked out that the DLL needs to be present in the debug directory. Any idea how to make sure it's put there automatically when the project is first published?

Unable To Load DLL On Computers With Do Not Have Program Installed

I created a program using visual basic. For some functions the program accesses a dll which was created using visual c++. When the program is run on a computer that does not have visual studio installed, functions which make calls to the dll generate an error: Unable to load DLL 'filename.dll': This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800736B1).Reinstalling the application does not help, and when the program is run on a computer that does have visual studio installed, calls to the dll work as expected without generating any type of error. Is there some component that is installed with Visual Studio that I need to attach to my program installation? Is there some way I can create or access the dll such that it does not need this component?
