I do not know what this term in the computer. but I try to send pictures, might be able to know what I mean.I want to eliminate the columns that I marked in the picture.how? what can be set for width 0 ?
Having an issue with my data gridview. I've set the visible property of the ID column to false, and in the designer the column is hidden, yet it still shows up when i run it. Now if i set it to True it shows the column twice.
I am populating a datagridview with data from a table and some unbound columns This is a large table and I want the form to fill the screen and the datagridview to fill the top half of the form. To do this, I have put a panel on the top and a panel at the bottom.I have anchored the dgv to the top left and docked it to the toplumnHeaderHeightSize is AutoSizehe issue is that the ColumnHeaders are not visible unless I click on the restore down button on the top right part of the screen
I am running a website for a F1 racing game, where users can submit their laptimes and compete with each other for the fastest time.
I am now trying to have my website create an image of the top-5 users every... 5 minutes or something, and copy it to the webserver somewhere I can link to. This way the image under that link will update with the latest information every 5 minutes.
To layout the times (these also include the position (1 to 5), the username, the platform, the time of course, and some more details) I am using a DataGridView. I could take the long route and layout the specific 'columns' manually, but I thought using a grid was far easier. I simply set some properties of the grid to make it look nothing like a grid (basically hide the column and row headers and grid lines and give everything the same backcolor). Then I load the times into the grid, and take an image of it using the Control.DrawToBitmap method.
This works fine, but it returns the entire grid. This is a problem because I made the grid extremely large (5000x5000) so that it can always accommodate the times regardless of the length of the usernames. So, the image I get is 5000 pixels wide while it only contains data in the first 500 px orso.
I am currently using the GetRowDisplayRectangle and GetColumnDisplayRectangle methods to figure out the part of the grid that actually displays the times, and use that to cut the image down to the portion I need.
But here's a problem: these methods only return something when the grid is on a form that is currently being shown! I am already giving the grid a parent form (even though I am just creating it in memory and it doesn't need to be displayed anywhere) because otherwise the data wouldn't load, but I was never showing that form. Now it turns out I do need to show the form, very briefly, in order to figure out the area that I need to take a snapshot from.
Remember that this is all happening on a webserver, so I'm not absolutely sure if this is a problem. Is it ok for a webserver to have a form popping up and down every 5 minutes? Or will this cause problems? I honestly don't know but I don't think it's a good thing. Moreover, it also pops up on my own machine when I'm testing, and it's damn annoying.
So my question is basically twofold:
1. Maybe I should ask this in the ASP.NET forum, but is it a problem to show a form briefly every 5 minutes?
2. Is there any other way to get these Get...DisplayRectangle methods to work without having the grid on a physically visible form?
VB GridView control will not allow code in the vb code file to access a data column that has its visible property set to false. When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I have looked through the documentation, text books, and I have not found anything that gave me any clue as to what the problem could be. I thought that the property was just applied to the column, not that it would remove the column from being accessible.
I want to move the cursor from column 1 to column 4 but what happened instead the cursor moves to column 5, this happens when I use the enter key event. but run well if I double click. The following description of the program: there are 7 columns of code, item description, unit, price, qty, discount, item amount code when key enter press :
I have several problems with rows in a DataGridView. Background information: The DataGridView (DataGridViewCalib) is in one TabPage of a TabControl, some columns of the DataGridView are automatically DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn as the DataSource have some colums which are Boolean. This is a Windows Form written in VB.Net with Visual Studio 2008. The user loads an input data file.
The problems:
1) At first arrival in the TabPage, ShowDataGridViewCalib (code below) is called. All rows are then shown in the DataGridView, despite the code saying that some rows should not be visible. Breakpoints in the code show that the code do arrive at the Rows.Visible = False events. Despite all rows beeing shown a Watch in the debugger shows that:
[code]...
There are two alternative ways of handling the rows in the code. The first attempt (commented away here) is probably the "nicest".
I am trying to aggregate a column in a datagridview. I know how to get it to work if I bind a database to it, I have several of them working perfectly, but I have one datagrid that is not bound to a database and for the life of me can not fiqure out
I use a code for place a CheckBox Column, into a DatagridView. This CheckBox column is the last Column of the DataGridView. Now i wants the CheckBox column at the first place of the datagridView. The DataGridView is filled from a database with several Columns. Can i place the Checkbox to the front?this is mij code, that place the CheckBox on the last place..[code]
Is there a way to make a column unselectable? I can make the column read-only but it would be easier if it was unselectable so the user won't be confused trying to enter data into a read only cell. So if I clicked on a cell in that column or moved into that cell in that column it would jump to the next column, or not focus on the cell at all.
Oh masters of VB i call upon your power once again !! i'm trying to do the following and i'd like your advice on how to do it because i don't know...i want to add a dropdownlist control to a datagridview, which will be bound and display a specific value for each row (based on a key cell on each row) and that i will be able to select a different value (from the dropdown) and then save the changes to the database.
I have a column with dates on it and I'm trying to sort it according to that.[code]I tried to use this but it only sorts by the first two digits, dd, and not with the full date.
I have a DataTable in a DataGridView, one of the columns has data that I want sorted. I can click on the column header to sort it and it's fine. The problem is that I don't want that column sorted automatically when some of the data changes in it. I want it sorted only when I click on the header.
I have been using this code to find the value of the cell in a datagrid view
Dim eRow As Integer eRow = dgv.CurrentRow.Index MessageBox.Show(dgv.Item(0, eRow).Value)
This works fine when the columns unless the user changes the order of the column.
So what I am trying to achieve is to find the value if the cell even if the order of the columns is changed. Is there a way instead of saying column (0, eRow) I can add (ColumnHeaderName = "NameHere", eRow) or something along those lines.
I have a DataGridView which contains a hidden column. On the BindNavigator SaveItem_Click event i need to populate the hidden column cell with the current date. I tried using the DefaultValuesNeeded event but it did not work out.
I have a databound DataGridView, and I'd like to keep one column in front, with a slightly smaller width than the default. The grid's AutoSizeColumnsMode property is set to Fill so that the columns fill out the entire grid. This makes the first column equally large as all others, which is why I need to set its width manually. The smaller column is the first one with the checkboxes. I have two grids that I need to do this with, and for some reason it works just fine with the first grid, but gives a null reference error on the second grid...
Here's the code for the first grid (working fine): vb.net Public Sub UpdateTodoGrid() ' Load todo items todoGrid.DataSource = _TodoManager.LoadAll() ' Set backcolor For Each row As DataGridViewRow In todoGrid.Rows [Code] .....
As you can see, the code is exactly the same (except for not setting the BackColor of each row and not using the ReadOnly property*). When I run this code, it gives me a null reference error ("Object reference not set to an instance of an object.") on the line where I set the column's Width. Obviously 'col' is not Nothing (otherwise it would have errored before that line), and there's nothing else there that could be Nothing... I assume that something happens internally in the grid when you set the width of a column, and that there is a null reference there, but obviously I have no control over that.
The grid's are absolutely the same, as the second grid is just a 'copy' (meaning I copy/pasted it in the designer) of the first. So all their properties are equal. I thought maybe the ReadOnly properties were the problem, but I tried putting them in in the same way and the issue did not go away... The first grid is not ReadOnly (because the checkboxes need to be editable), but all rows except the first are, while the second grid is completely ReadOnly.
I'm using visual basic 2010 and i am able to import the raw data from excel and into my datagirdview but i am unable to get the code to add the values of raw data in column 2 and 3 and show the answer in column 5. Do i need to loop it?
The entire project is in the attachment take a look at it.
This is the entire code i have now:
Imports System.Data.SqlClient Imports System.IO Imports System
I was just wondering if it is possible to apply an attribute to a property within a business object (MyBusinessObject) such that after the DataSource of a grid is set to a List(Of MyBusinessObject), the visible property of the column will automatically be false. For example:
myGrid.DataSource = New List(Of MyBusinessObject) Public Class MyBusinessObject
I'm having a problem with my DataGridView. When I double-click on any column, with exception to Date & Time, the grid advances by 1. As you can see the 2nd row is highlighted in blue, I actually double-clicked on the first one, under "Sent By." (See attached image)
Here is my code
VB.NET
Public Class frmPickAssignment Dim dteStart As Date Dim dteEnd As Date
i have a DataGridView bound to a table that has 22 fields in it. In the datagridview columns, the first 2 have the visible property set to false and the last 7 also set to false. This works since there are 13 columns displayed in the datagridview when the program runs. Here's where my issue come in. When I do the following, Console.WriteLine("Column count = " & DataGridView1.Columns.Count.ToString()), I get the expected "Column count = 22 in the output. However, when I do Console.WriteLine("Visible = " & DataGridView1.Columns.GetColumnCount(DataGridViewElementStates.Visible)), I get 20 instead of the expected 13 that actually have the property set to visible.
I have a class that inherits from DataGridView. However, when I create a new instance, set the position, width and height and then run the project, the datagridview is not rendered. Is there something else I need to do the make the datagridview become visible?
