We're using Reportviewer and rdlc files in our application. I had drillthroughs working fine and we put the app on the backburner to work on other projects. Now that the Users wanted a new build I revisited the app and tested with a new password in the connection string. To my surprise the Drillthroughs no longer work. To my further surprise I can't even click on the textbox that fires the drillthrough. I checked TFS and there have been no changes to the Report definition or the ViewModel that handles the Drillthrough. All I changed were the connection strings.

Normally, I define a connectionstring at design time which I complete with the username and password at run time.I now need to implement a ReportViewer which needs a connectionstring. View 2 Replies1. I get an empty page at the end of a report. I have 4 pages instead of 3, 8 instead of 7 and so on. I see and print these empty pages. The report width less than the page width minus margins, so this cannot be the reason of my problem. How can I get rid of these pages?

I am creating some reports using object datasources.in my software the user can create a list of products specifying a code, the product name, the price and the vat rate (this last two attributes will be used as suggestions when the user will place the product inside an order).When a user creates an order he can place products within it by specifying for each product the quantity and he can also override the suggested price and the vat rate.So basically i have two models to represent the products:

I have a ReportViewer showing a report that is bound to a dataset. The dataset gets its data from a Access database backend. I have a separate form that allows the user to add/update/delete data. My problem is when the user makes changes to the data using the data entry form, the report does not reflect those changes. I have to close the entire program and reopen it before the changes take effect on my report. This piece is used to bound the report to the dataset

I'm having issues trying to get file system watchers working properly, I'm not sure whats not right here, I want to use multiple, but I can't even get one of them to fire on an event... simple form with a listbox for folders to watch and a listbox to list changes detected and a command button to launch watchers.

But with a new server my customer has that uses EXCHANGE 2010 it does not work.
I used TELNET to get into port 25 of the exchange server and it seems that it gets a CLIENT WAS NOT AUTHENTICATED error.
Anyone use SMTP with EXCHANGE 2010 yet???

View 8 RepliesReportViewer is a component I use frequently. Imagine my surprise in VS2010 when I find that a project MUST use the 4.0 framework choice or the toolbox will not display the component. I am trying to use a 2.0 project for compatability reasons. No matter how I try to reference the WinReportViewer it will not work unless I update the project for 4.0 framework.MS, I don't understand what this means for upgrade path for old projects being opened in VS2010. We are a VS2008 shop and it would be horrible to upgrade a bunch of projects to 2010 only to find that ReportViewer is no longer supported by 2.0 framework.

View 6 RepliesIn this case GDI no longer stands for Graphic Device Interface! I have an MDI form, and the child form loads up with a single panel positioned at a specific spot so that i can have a visual studio styled menu on the left side. The square white area is the panel with the fields in it for the user to enter. The left side is a TreeView with GDI lines drawn around it that dont appear until the menu has been changed. Here's what the menu looks like when its rendered properly:
When the form first loads, you can quickly see the GDI drawings come up (sometimes) then disappear. It flashes pretty quick when you can actually see it, but until you change the menu item to another causing it to redraw, its just... gone.. Looks like this:Here's the setup:I have two labels docked at the top for the large white text with a black background
There's the treeview on the left in a picturebox where the GDI components are drawn, and a panel touching it on the right side, which is sized and anchored on all sides basically keeping it stretched to the size of the window while keeping the top and left side pinned in position so it doesnt move, keep it touching the menu on the left.
Inside the panel is 10 more panels, one panel for each menu item. Each panel is programmatically set to resize to 1024x768 and becomes visible once the menu item for that panel is clicked. The panels are all programmatically top positioned at 0 and left positioned at -1 to hide the left border stroke from having the BorderStyle set to FixedSingle. Moving it to -1 hides only that border within the panel its in.
I have dual monitors, so i began stepping through the code on one monitor with the program running on the other so i could see what its doing with each step. While going through, at one point i see the contents of the TreeView completely vanish, but all the drawn GDI stuff is there. Once i get through everything and finally hit F8 on the very last line when control of the program is given back to me because its now waiting for me to do something, all of a sudden the treeview contents re-appear and the GDI drawings vanish.
I just upgraded a project from VB 2008 to VB 2010. Before, the project did not use LINQ. I have started implementing it. So, I have updated the target framework from 2.0 to 3.5, and added a reference to System.Core, and imported the namespace System.LINQ to the entire project and also imported System.Data.LINQ into the form I'm working with (because it was not available in the list for Imported Namespaces in the references tab).
It's not throwing any errors now, but my IntelliSense is not working for LINQ stuff.
For example... I write this:

Then, if I type S. on the next line, the IntelliSense doesn't grab what it should for S (Only get Equals, GetHashCode, GetType, ReferenceEquals, and ToString, instead of the options I should get like Count, First, FirstOrDefault, etc...). If I Type S.First. then its the same thing, no IntelliSense that lists the available fields for S, just the standard options (Equals, GetHashCode, GetType, ReferenceEquals, and ToString). I should be seeing my column names in my table when I type S.FirstOrDefault.
So any ideas what is going on? When I type the code, for example, MessageBox.Show(S.FirstOrDefault.FirstName), it works perfectly. But it doesn't change the casing of the text (so it would read s.firstordefault.firstname) and no intellisense while doing it. But no errors. BTW - Everything works perfectly when creating a NEW VS 2010 application, it's just my projects upgraded from Visual Basic 2008 that have this issue.
I want to render a report directly to pdf. I have an objectdatasource with 2 parameters. I obtain these parameters from a hiddenfield on the webform and from the datakeyname on a gridview. The report works when I load it in report viewer without rendering to pdf. When I place the code to render the report as pdf the parameters dont load i.e. the report renders as pdf but there are no details on the report. My code is below,. I am using the Microsoft ReportViewer 2005 in one of my VB.NET apps and a couple of users are having image display problems (red X) on the reports. They have the correct version of the WinForms DLL on their system and the app does verify that the image file exists before passing the location to the ReportViewer. This problem was reported on XP and Vista.No other users have reported this problem and it is not something that I can reproduce, so I am stumped.This is a sample file path that is passed to the ReportViewer,
