VS 2010 Error Message : Argument Out Of Range Exception Unhandled

Jun 23, 2011

Working with an If statement I have tried the following

If -0.6 > (LLum_Gline(8).X - LLum_Gline(12).X) > 0.6 Then
patient_frm.llum_gline = 2
MsgBox("Measurement is Abnormal")
End If

I am getting an error message that says Argument out of range exception unhandled. I have double checked and verified that LLum_Gline(8).X and LLum_Gline(12).X are in fact valid.Is my problem simply in how i am phrasing the If statement. Is there a way for me to phrase what im doing without writing multiple if statements?

VS 2010 - Masked Textbox (Invalid Cast Exception)

Oct 10, 2011

I've got a masked text box that throws an invalid cast exception if I try to put anything in the TextChanged event:
Private Sub mtbZVal_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MaskInputRejectedEventArgs) Handles mtbZVal.TextChanged
MsgBox("OK!")
End Sub

Even more oddly, it throws the exception in a completely different part of the program. The masked textbox is on a form that opens when you press a button, and that's the bit that gives the error:
Private Sub cmdAddLoc_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdAddLoc.Click
If frmLocation.ShowDialog() = DialogResult.OK Then
End If
End Sub

VS 2010 Datetime.tostring Invalid Cast Exception?

Nov 21, 2011

I'm just converting a date to a string but I'm getting this error. It's not listed as one of the normal exceptions to the datetime.tostring method. Googling around, it looks like it's an actual bug where it thinks StartDate is an int--but that's no help to me, as I just need to convert the date.

dim StartDate as nullable(of date)
dim Date1 as string
if not StartDate is nothing then
Date1 = StartDate.tostring("yyyy-mm-dd")
end if

VS 2010 Data Bindings - Invalid Cast Exception With DBNulls

Sep 8, 2011

I'm binding a ComboBox's SelectedIndex to a Nullable database field like so:

VB.NET

ColapsoComboBox.DataBindings.Add("SelectedIndex", EnsaiosBindingSource, "Colapso", False, DataSourceUpdateMode.OnValidation, 0)

As you can see, I've defined the NullValue to be zero, yet I get an InvalidCastException. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Or is handling the binding's Format and Parse events the only way around this?

Using A .net Dll In C#. Getting 'invalid Argument'?

Apr 19, 2011

Got a strange one and I know it is something silly but I can't see it for anything I have a DLL created in VB.net (No I can't change it! :-)) and am calling it from C#. The problems come at the point the object is created in C# and I get the message that it has "some invalid arguments".

The constructor code in the DLL is as follows:

Sub New(ByRef Connection As IConnection)
The code in C# is:
IConnection conn = new Connection();
CustomObject test = new CustomObject(conn)

It is happy with the first line but it gives the error message ("some invalid arguments") on the second line. I have also created a secondary project in VB.net and called the DLL and it works fine there.

I know that my combobox has 3 items (in that case that the value was 2) I found that I cannot call selectedIndex before create the combobox, but I am kind of confuse here. I tried also to add it to the panel and to the tablelayoutpanel and then set the selectedIndex but I get the same error.

Highlight Invalid Data On Gridview If Validation Against A DataTable Is Failed?

May 11, 2012

I tried my best to shrink down the program to the following code. In this example, I have UK and USA as valid countries. If someone lives outside those countries, I wanna show an error message and highlight them on the gridview. For example, John and Chris are from China so they should be highlighted on the gridview. Either just Name or the whole row can be highlighted.

Dim dt As New DataTable
dt.Columns.Add("ID")
dt.Columns.Add("Name")

.net - Exception With String Argument?

Jul 28, 2011

I have :

Dim con As New OleDbConnection(My.Resources.ConnectionString)
// Give exception = Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 62.

When I substitute the actual value of the Resource, it give no exception :

Dim con As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:
awData.xlsx;Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0 XML;""")

The value of ConnectionString in Resources :

<data name="ConnectionString" xml:space="preserve">
<value>Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:
awData.xlsx;Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0 XML;""</value>
</data>

I don't understand why is this happening ?

I think this should have been replaced even before the compilation process..

Then why is it giving exception ?
