I am trying to bind data from a text box on my form to a field in my database table. First of all I have created a DataSet, BindingSource and Table Adapter in the forms Design view, but I am having from there. Under the properties of each text box I have set the DataBindings (Text) to the field in the table under the forms instance and DataSet rather than the Projects Data Sources. I am very rusty at Visual Studio 2005 and that is all I have to work with.
I just get the database values. Database values are converted to xml format using for nested keyword. I am having the proper xml file. Now I need to bind this xml data into PDF form. In pdf form I a having one table. I need to fill this table using xml data.

Im new here and hoping that I post this in the right forum. I am SLOWLY learning VB, and have run into a problem that I cant figure out. I have a standard form that you can enter data into.I want to take that data that is entered, and save it to a text file once I click the submit button at the bottom of the form. The form could have up to 500 entries into the form.
I want to be able for a user to click on a button and then it runs a function and then shows the results in the data list.i know i can get data and bind it through my tables
Just a quick question my textbox1.text seems to get focus when I run the APP.how do I cancel any focus to any textbox?I just don't want to select it or anything when I work with it only when the user select or uses it.
I was using 2 forms, the first one has general data capture and the second one is a calendar form. On Form1 I have mulitple windows controls. A Textb ox and beside a Calendar button. When I click on a Calendar Command button, it should open calendar form and once the user selects the date, the date should be placed in the text box on the form1. Identical to this on Form1 I need multiple textboxes that needs date to be captured.I cannot use a global variable for this as I need to validate mulitple text boxes. To explain this, I have a Transaction Date and Date Received. I need to validate whether Transaction date is prior Date Received or not? I dont want to use several global variables b'coz I might need multiple validations as above. Please help me on this.
It has to be a simple line of code but I do not know how to construct it. Using VB 2010 Express, I have a MDI parent form and many child forms. I want the parent form to determine what child form is active and load data into the RichTextBox1 on the child form. Each Child form has a RichTextBox1. The parent form gets its data by loading a file.
I am close to a solution but just can't get there. You will see in the code below, if I make a direct reference to a specific child form, it works great. What I want to do is to use the Active Form function to determine which form to write to. I have looked at the MS tutorial which gets me close.
Private Sub OpenToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object,
Like how do I make a drop down menu populate with the data from a connected database? And how can a label pop out on a form from code that has to do with a database? Last, how to add data to a database from saying "yes" to a messagebox that was coded?
I wrote small program which is reading xml data to datagridview (table). I used open file dialog and everything works fine. Now I would like to add some edit options to my program (add, delete, save). I decided to bind data and then use binding navigator?
I have the following XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <root> <Language code="0" control="form" attribute="text"> <NL>Upload expansies</NL> <UK>Upload expansions</UK> </Language> [Code] ..... I would like to bind the text between the NL or UK tags, based on a setting, to the control with the name in the attribute "control".
I started with this: Dim xf As New Xml.XmlDocument xf.LoadXml(My.Resources.Languages) I am thinking I need to do something like a search in the xmldocument for the specific control, then get the text from the children.
I would like to bind the text field of a textbox to an element in an instance of a structure that I've created in a class module. When I try to create a Data Source using an OBJECT type, all I see in the tree is the name of the structure, not the instance I've created. If I select the structure anyway, the Data Sources tree does show the name of the structure and the element I'm interested in. How do I bind to a specific instance?
I have a Master Page with nested pages in ASP.NET. Fairly simply I want to databind some hyperlinks to a gridview for the master page. This however is throwing a null reference exception when I try to set the DataSource.
I tested the code on a separate page and it works as expected. When debugging I can see the Page_Load Sub hit twice, I don't know if this is the cause I have one nested page being loaded, this is a blank page at the moment
EXCEPTION Object reference not set to an instance of an object. MASTERPAGE CODE BEHIND Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
my code below doesn't work Private Sub DataGridView2_CellContentClick_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellEventArgs)
i have a form issue and return form. where Issuer_ID is the primary key, this form uses for boht emp and for student issuing book. at run time the user has to select a radio button for student or for employe. if he select student so after entering the full information when he press submit button so student query is execute and data stored in database, keeping the Employee field null, and when user select the employee radio button and after pressing the submit button, so employee querry executes and stores data in employee field, keep the student filed null. remmber and Student ID and Employee ID or foreign keys in isuee and return table and radiobuttons are not the part of database, its just on form.
now i want that when a user gives his issuer ID and at the lost focus event of issuer id, it is checked that if the record exists so the data is bind on the form, if does not exist so the user has to make entry, but if the data loads on form so how user will find out that this data is of student or of employee?
