VS 2010 Sound Card DLL For VB?

Jun 15, 2011

I would like to be able to measure the frequency of a sine wave applied to the input of a "standard" Windows sound card system.I need to do this in near real-time (not by analyzing a wav file after the event) and I need to continuously measure every half-cycle of audio and store the results in some kind of buffer that I can read into a VB app. I have tried googling for this and it seems to be a very popular question but I have not found any really good answers. Does anyone know of a DLL that could do this? I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable sum for a commercial DLL if there is such a thing.

Another related requirement is to generate sine-waves - again this must be done in near real-time and it must be possible to change each half-cylce of the waveform. For example,I might need to generate a few half-cycles of 1500 Hz to be followed (with no break in the waveform) by half-a-cycle of 2300 Hz.

Capture Raw Signal From WiFi Card As Would A Sound Card

May 9, 2012

Is it possible to capture the raw signal from a WiFi card in the same way you can capture the signal from a sound card? (I already found code for working with a sound card and for drawing spectrograms) I'm wondering because it would make a cool radio-type project. I'd prefer a solution that integerates well with .net (VB or C#).My basic goal is to capture the ambient radio waves and build a primative "telescope" of sorts. Using the built in computer hardware is just the easiest way to accomplish this. If you have any other suggestions about how to accomplish this goal in a different way please post it as an answer also.

Direction For Sound Through Sound Card?

May 27, 2011

Is there a way to generate a pure tone (e.g. 440 Hz) for a specified period of time through the sound card without using having to find or make a separate .wav file for each tone.I tried using the "Beep" function, but while it produces the tone for a specified period, it sounds broken up into a (probably 500ms) time frame which repeats with an audible space between the repetitions.

ATM System - Check Card Number Matches Up To The Users PIN Number

Mar 13, 2009

I am trying to make a basic ATM system, iv got all the interface done and I have made the link to my SQL database etc. the part i'm stuck on is how I can run a check to see if a bank card number matches up to the users PIN number. To simulate the user putting a card into the machine I've used a combo box, and that lists all the cards, that haven't been flagged as confiscated (there's a column in my ATMCards table that I can set to true or false) then after the user has selected a relevant card there's another text box where they can enter in their PIN number.

Now what I want to do is, if they chose the card number 1234567890123456 in the combo box and they enter in the PIN 1234 into the text box, then, after clicking the check PIN Button if the pin is correct they need to be taken to another from where they can check their balance etc., and if its wrong they got three attempts after which point i want to flag that card as confiscated.

Routing Modem Audio Out To SR Engine Audio Input Under VB / VBA?

May 20, 2009

I have a database application developed around Access with VBA,I have used the Speech SDK and developed an application that in conjunction with MSCOMM 6.0 library calls into a remote IVR system. It sends in the credentials and queries information in response to that IVR's verbal requests. All seems successfull except for one problem;I'm using a shared SR engine and its using the system microphone as its audio input, this in turn gets the sound from the speakers which are routed to the telephone line through the modem. Of course this has a number of disadvantages - noise added to the sound from the environment and sound quality degredation as well as speaker volume dependency.

I would like the SR engine to take its audio input from the modem in paralell with the sound that goes to the speakers (so we can listen in to the call as well). This means that I must route the system audio output to the SR engine audio input. It seems that I must use an InProc SR instance - however in VBA that type is not recognized - since the shared SR uses the microphone as input by default. there is some statement to the effect that it is difficult in Microsoft's Help file. I'm unable to set the SR audio input to the modem output stream in VBA.As needed I can accomplish the C++ interface using an ActiveX object or a DLL to expose the missing API to VBA?
