I have a vb10-form that makes connection with a SQL-db. The first time the SQL command is executed perfectly and the records are showed as they should. When I do a refresh (or automatic refresh after 1 min) I get: "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding" The strange thing is that this only happens on one PC, all the other work.
I'm not sure if this is a VB.NET error or SQL Server. But I get the above error with following stack trace:
[SqlException (0x80131904): Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.] System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException
i need to check if a port is open, apparently i can't ping ports so i need to use sockets, and it seems that there is no option for timeout on the connecting... how can i put a timeout on connect?
I am working on uses the ThreadPool class and specifically the QueueUserWorkItem method to launch its background tasks. I am however having an issue related to SqlConnection timeouts. My error is this: "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to obtaining a connection from the pool. This may have occurred because all pooled connections were in use and max pool size was reached."
This code is using all available ThreadPool threads because it is processing nearly 100,000 items, each on a threadpool thread, and updating an SQL database. So my question is this? Has anyone ran into a similar problem or could shed some light on a resolution to this issue? In testing, if I use the threadpool. setmaxthreads function and give it a value of 100 (to match the default Sql connection pooling count) then all runs just fine, but much to slow to process this much data. [Code]
Lets say i label "label1" , and 2 buttons named "button1" and "btnRefresh " [code]So , when user press the button 1 , the text will change. But what should i put inside btnRefresh to reload the forms ? and display the default label.text = "Form Load" ???
I want to Refresh DataGridView according to any condition (e.g. I changed the color of letters in cellls). This condition is set by another form (it closes when the condition is set). How can I do it?
I am using a listbox that is filled with a list of items from Database. When I am deleting an item from the listbox it is has to be deleted from Database, and that is all working fine.The problem is, even after deleting the item from the listbox, it is showing in the listbox, I have to close and restart the app to get the deleted item off from the listbox.
Is there any way to remove an item from listbox at the same time? I don't want to use timer to refresh is there any other way to refresh the listbox items???
Alright everyone, this is a huge problem I've been having for a while. How exactly would I go about refreshing the internet settings so that a webbrowser will check the registry again for the IP to use? Instead of just using the IP that's there when the browser is first instantiated. Here's what I'm looking for that someone else directed me to, however it's in C#. I'm sure there's a method like this in VB.NET, however I have no idea what it may be.[URL]..
I have an animated gif that I would like to display in a picturebox while an operation on the main thread is being performed. The obvious issue here is when the operation is executing on the same thread as the picturebox, the animation stops until processing is complete. Is there a way to refresh the picturebox on another thread?I would really like to solve this using the same form as opposed to displaying another progress form.
I'm working on a project just for fun that is a fixed browser that load one site. However, the site doesn't work in Internet Explorer so I'm using the webkit core. I've added the webkit browsing area that's named "ACB" and set the URL. I then added the only button neeed, a button to use as refresh, and set the code for that button to "ACB.Refresh()", however if I click that after running it nothing happens. If I set the page it loads to Google it loads but you can't hit search.
I have an explorer-like interface which in many ways mimiques the behaviour of a standard explorer window. What I need is to find some way of knowing if something had changed in the filesystem since the last time I checked.What I mean, for example if a user creates a directory or renames a file - I need a way to know that. Right now I re-read the contents of the displayed folder once per second and I added a manual 'Refresh' button, but I wonder if there is a better solution.I tried to use FileSystemWatcher component for that but either I couldn't figure out how it works or it doesn't have such functionality.
I have a big problem regarding MdiChild. My problem is that I have 3 forms loaded;
Form1=Mainform / mdiParent Form2= Display the Datagrids Form3= This is where I let the user input the necessary fields like Lastname, Firstname,Age,etc...
My problem goes like this, Form3 is the child of Form2, Form2 is the child of Form1 and I call them one by one like this:
//form1 Form2.MdiParent = this; Form2.Show();
[code]....
I want in the Form3 to save data and refresh on my datagrid on Form2 so that every data that I encoded in Form3 will reflect in Form2. I let the Form3 close everytime there is data entered but my problem is that the data that entered doesn't reflect in my datagrid.
Bit of a strange question but I have a refresh button which clears my screen but after clearing the screen the textbox2 get selected (even though its readonly) so would it be possible for no control to get selected or textbox1 to get selected after i have hit refresh?
The current code works fine on the very first fresh but after that it doesn't remember what node was clicked. For this refresh I am looking for a ini file and if found I delete the ini file and refresh the tree. The tree has only 2 parents and never anymore then that.
This first part is the timer sub Private Sub Timer2_Tick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer2.Tick Dim SelectNode As String = Me.tvFolders.SelectedNode.Name Try ' check to see if file exist, if so do refresh then delete file If (File.Exists(appPath & "refresh.ini")) Then File.Delete(appPath & "refresh.ini") [Code] .....
Now the main problem is if you click on a child in parent2 and hit refresh it is not sending Parent2 as a treenode to the search function and it doesn't remember the node clicked. But if you click on a child in parent1 it remembers the node but always refreshes to the top parent1 node. but the very first time you refresh in parent1 it works perfect. Even on the second refresh regardless of which parent you are in it never comes back with failed message from the search function.
I'm noticing that sometimes strings drawn in a given column or row will be slightly over-antialiased or altogether clipped after scrolling horizontally or vertically.I can see that the quick way to clear this up is to send a final .Refresh() call to the DataGridView after completing the scroll. But, unlike the ReSize event for Forms, there doesn't seem to be a Begin and End Scroll event for controls, so I can't just send a .Refresh() to the DataGridView after scrolling.Does anyone have an idea how I might go about detecting when a scroll event has completed so I can send that final .Refresh() to the DataGridView?
I am using the TableAdapter Configuration Wizard and under Advanced option I click on "Refresh the data table" and carry through to the end of the wizard. However when I run my code and want to update the dataset on the form I get the error message "Update requires a valid Update Command when passed with DataRow collection with modified rows". So, ok, when I look back at the Dataset with right click and configure I find that that the "Refresh the data table" under Advanced Options is no longer ticked, even though I had ticked it before and finished the wizard. Somewhere along the line the tableAdapter is losing this value.
I have written some code (VB.net) which simply runs a backup on all required servers and databases in a loop. The code works perfectly, except for the first backup which Timeout's after 30 seconds (even with my Connect Timeout=0).
Everything is written manually for the dataconnection, the connection opens and timeouts on SQLComm.ExecuteNonQuery()
dbConnStr= Data Source='Server';Initial Catalog='Database';Integrated Security=False;User ID=sa;Connect Timeout=0;User Instance=False
I am using VB 2005 and need to trap a serial port timeout. I use a standard try/catch block, but if no characters arrive the code still hangs at the ReadByte call. Here is the code:
I have written a page with an iFrame that basically cycles through a series of internal pages on our server displaying daily activity for our company. The problem I think is that it sporadically loses its session and redirects back to the login screen to keep losing its session which is the default behavior for anyone on our site trying to access a webpage without being logged in.
I have set the session timeout to 4hrs, the iframe cycles through 6 pages anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes on each, and I have even set the META refresh on the page to refresh every 3 hours. I don't understand what else could possibly stop this page from staying active.
I have to increase timeout period.Following is my code.
Private Function GetConnectionInstance() As SqlConnection Dim objConn As SqlConnection Dim strConnection As String strConnection = ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("conn")
[code]....
What code i have to add in above to increase timeout period.
In this situation, my application can connect to the MSSQL server in one of two ways; via a direct TCP/IP connection (WAN) (IP's filtered using RRAS in 2003 Server) or via a VPN connection. The application will first try to open the connection using the WAN connection string and if it can't, then it tries using the VPN connection string. My issue is, I set the connection timeout to 5 seconds for the first attempt but it's taking way longer than that to return an exception. The order in which I attempt to open the connection doesn't really matter. I have looked at the ConnectionTimeout property after changing the connection string and it does indeed show 5 seconds. It appears that the connection timeout value is being ignored.
We got a legacy vb.net applicaction that was working for years. But all of a sudden it stops working yesterday and gives sql server timeout.
Most part of application gives time out error , one part for example is below code :
CODE:
It was working and now gives time out in command3.ExecuteNonQuery()
Some information : There isnt anything that has been changed on network and the app uses local database. The main issue is that even in development environment it donest work anymore
am using vb.net 2008 and sql server 2008. I have a search form and when i search at times, I have "Connection Timeout Expired" error.I dispose and close the connection after establishment, but i still get it. tried setting MyConObj.ConnectionTimeout = 0 and it also gives me "Property ConnectionTimeout is ReadOnly.
I am looking for the VB.NET code of a very handy little *.bas file I used to use in Visual Basic 6. The file was called timeout.bas and it was the greatest module ever to me. I want to switch to start using VB.NET finally but this single file is holding me back. Trying to use .NET without it is like crippling me. [code]
