Presently working a tutorial in visual basic 2010. I have encountered the error " keyword is not valid as an identifier" I have read the definition of an identifier in the beginners section. Although I undertand the definition of an identifier I still am not sure of it when looking at a line of code. The tutorial gives an analogy but does not show examples of identifiers as they would actually apprear in a coding project.
In this screen I want to let the user decide which elements are on shown on a label. When I hit the update button (BDUpdate_Click; see below), it first checks whether the Barcode sample text is empty. Afterwards I want to invole the refresh of the label preview. The strange thing is that the first time it works fine, but when I alter the sample text and hit the button again, I get the Error "System.ArgumentException was unhandled. Parameter is not valid." The error points to the DrawSting function in the LabelPreview_Paint Sub
Dim BarcodeLabelUpdate As Boolean Private Sub BDUpdate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BDUpdate.Click If BDBarcodeSample.Text = "" Then MsgBox("Please enter a sample text", MsgBoxStyle.Information Or MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, ProgramTitle)
LoopBegin: Do Until strXMLSingle.Contains("ENDOFXMLCHECK") strXMLSingle = getTempFile.ReadLine If strXMLSingle.Contains("<character") Then
[code]....
I have that so far. It was working great for the names part until I attempted to do the level part, now i get the following error:
System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'index'.
Also at the line where i use a goto statement to go back to the beginning of the loop, is there any way i can do that without a goto statement? Like a second loop statement or something?
I get Keyword is not valid as an identifier error on this line Private Sub Event _service_GetReleasesForProductCompleted(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Where as I want to Raise an event [set up events].
I tried to follow this method from microsoft i added the whole code to a module and tried to call EncryptFile in a form
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click EncryptFile("C: est his.txt", "C: est his2.txt", "nothing todohere") MsgBox("tada!") End Sub
However I got this error message Error "Specified key is not a valid size for this algorithm."in
DES.Key = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(sKey)
the this.txt contains only the text whatitdo btw, can this process handle large text files? about 100KB?
In the following code all goes well until the .Sort line. Then I get an error which says, "The sort method is not valid. Make sure it is within the data you want to sort and the first sort by box isn't the same or blank."I've tried various permutations to deal with this exception, all to no avail. The Range is Selected ok and the Excel data are pasted from the clip board ok. Then I get the error and no sort occurs.
using vb.net 2005 I created an assembly that I'm going to use with a report but the problem is I want to make a function static using the "Shared" keyword but when I do that I get the error in the subject line of this post. I"m confused how "shared" cannot be valid, what I have is:
Public Class myClass Function Shared myFunction() As String Return "" End Function End Class

I have a VB file that imports System.IO, but only uses it is a couple of places. My co-workers and I were wondering if there is a small performance boost if we just use System.IO explicitly were we need it (IE., System.IO.MemoryStream) instead of importing it.
I've spent a substantial amount of time trying to figure this out, but I keep getting the same error
A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException' occurred in System.Data.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in project1.exe
This happens when I try to use the DataReader.my code is
Public Function Identification() As List(Of Integer) Dim returnIndex As New List(Of Integer) Dim dbCount As String = "SELECT Bookingid FROM bookdetail WHERE Date =" & getCurrentTimeString() & " 12:00:00 a.m." Dim count As Integer = 0
I import txt file and export into datagridview, because too many data need to export, the application may hag for few seconds. So, how can i do in orer to show a msg(using label1) n disable button2 before finish exporting... Can i use timer to do this, but i dont know how to let system know the datagrdview has been importing data n when end?
Its work well in windows 7 but when i run project in windows xp its says i must use New keyword but when i use New its gives error at regkey.GetValueNames and RegistryKey = Registry.LocalMachine and regBaseKey.OpenSubKey("SOFTWAREMyApp", FalseImports Microsoft.Win32[code]...
I have a VB Web Site project that has recently (and mysteriously) stopped importing the "System" namespace by default.
I'm having to either place an Imports System line at the top of each code behind, or preface everything with System, which is fairly annoying, not to mention redundant. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the System namespace back to being imported by default.
I've already checked to see that WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727CONFIGweb.config contains the <add namespace="System"/> line--it does. That was my best lead.
I have references to several namespaces within the System namespace in the <assemblies> node (e.g. System.Design, System.Web.Extensions of my website's web.config. There is no <namespaces> node. This has not been changed recently.
But i am now trying to declare time however i keep getting an error because i cannot get the type correct. I tried the following but get the following error: "Conversion from type 'Timespan' to type 'integer' is not valid".
Dim DeliveryTime as DateTime Dim DeliveryTime as Integer
In my database the DeliveryTime type is set to Time(7) so i would assume there should be 'Time' which i could use to declare it, but there isnt. What is the correct type i should be using?
Here is my exact code. There error is Input string was not in correct format:
GraphDate4 = String.Empty DeliveryProducts = "{ name: 'DeliveryProducts', data: [" If DataReader4.HasRows Then
I've got a GridView. My SelectCommand in the code works if I copy and paste it into SQL Server Management Studio. It executes fine.If I run the page and click Edit for any row I get the error:
"Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'IS'."
I've tried to see what's going on using SQL Server Profiler. Here's what the SelectCommand looks like and what SQL is receiving...
SelectCommand from supplies.ascx SELECT some stuff FROM here WHERE (this IS NULL) and (that=1) ORDER BY this DESC SQL Server Profiler reports SELECT some stuff FROM here (this IS NULL) and (that=1) ORDER BY this DESC
I didn't put any code here because I'm not really sure what would be relevant and didn't want to load up the post with unnecessary lines of code.
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="fldSupReqID" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" EmptyDataText="There are no data records to display." AllowSorting="True"
I am trying to create INSERT SQL using WHERE syntaxing in order to ensure no duplication with the SQLCMD.PARAMETER but the WHERE clause generate this error message:Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'Where'.
Here are the coding:
Dim strSql As String strSql = "Insert into tblCustomers " strSql &= "(CustomerID, ContactName,Address,City,PostalCode,Country)"
Dim objConnection As New SqlConnection(Application("ConnString"))
My connection string is: [Code]. I googled this problem and the solution for it was having a malformed connection string where the "provider" was being specified when it shouldn't have. Example conn string: [Code]. I'm not specifying the Provider so I think I have a different problem.
I get the following error when trying to compile the simplest prpgram. Error 1 Class 'CLSID_CorSymWriter' could not be created: System Error &H80040154& After looking at other stuff on the net I removed VB 2010, VB 2008, any C or C++ runtimes and any .NET Framework programs I could find, and then re-installed VB 2010, but the problem still persists.
First off let me say that I am essentially new to VB.NET, i.e; still learning. Also, I hope that this is the right place to post this question. In a Project I have a Class module defined as:
Public Class Def Public Id As String Public Meaning As String
I have inherited a VB.NET project which was created in VS 2003 and is now in VS 2010. It works fine on one macine (32 bit). However, on my Win7 64 bit machine it simply won't build or run. I get an error saying "xxx is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1) Line 4762, position 5"
I am having trouble importing mySQL to my project. When I use the syntax Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient a warning shows up saying that "namespace or type specified in the (code) doesn' contain any public member or cannot be found"
im tying to use settings in visual basic; i have my sentence in the settings; i want to program a click event in order to appear that sentence in a textbox, after the click i i have this error [Code] "failed system boot configuration".
