View 3 RepliesI'm connecting to my mysql server using ODBC in vb.net, the database is shared throughout the company because it is used in an accounting program (simply accounting), each user has their own account user/pass to login to the database. I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.

Button 2 deletes the contents of the table and not the table itself (which it does successfully). Last, button 3 is supposed to read the text file and insert each field which is separated by a comma back into the existing table. However, at the "addComm.ExecuteNonQuery()" step I receive an error (An unhandled exception of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException' occurred in system.data.dll). I have spent many hours trying to find a solution but can't seem to get it to rewrite the text file back to the table.[code]...

I am building a VB.net application using VB Express 2008 which connects to a MySQL database. Right now, I am only selecting records, but will be writing code for update / insert. I have installed the MySQL Net Connector, most recent stable build. I have set a reference to it in project references. It makes a connection and reads just fine, no issues there at all.
My problem is this: When exiting the project (via calling "End") I am receiving a null Exception error. Here is the error[code]....

View 2 RepliesI am getting a syntax error for the code below.I am trying to create a user in the mysql database and add their information to a datagrid control all in one button click using two statements; one to create the actual user, and one to add the user and their additional information to a table on the database and then refresh the datasource which will display the new user's information in the datagrid control.
If anyone knows where i went wrong please feel free to critique my code and let me know; or simply offer more efficient alternatives to what im hoping to achieve.

I have a somewhat weird problem with a program i'am writing in VB2005. When I debug the program and start 1 backgroundworker (got 8 different backgroundworkers in the program) in VB2005 nothing goes wrong, but when i'm starting 2 or more backgroundworkers I get an NullReferenceException when trying to read from a MySQL database (withing a few minutes in debugging). This error isn't always in the same backgroundworker, but is always in the same block of code in a backgroundworker (1 of 8). I tried different approaches in getting the results I need, for example with read1.HasRows(), but this also didn't workt... the MySQL table doesn't also seem to be the problem.
Line 8 is where I get the error (read1.Read())... This is a snippet from backgroundworker1, but is also randomly happens in the other 8 backgroundworkers as well... When I'am trying to read te content of read1 is says "Nothing" when the error occures...

It works fine from my test machine, but if i deploy the app to another computer I get error: Unhandled Exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'MySql.Data, Version=6.3.6.0 I'm going through google to find a solution, but nothing has stood out yet, just wondered if anyone has encountered this before and knows of a quick fix.
View 2 Replies...until an indeterminate amount of time passes and I get "The ProviderManifestToken '5' is different from '5.1' that was encountered earlier" error. Why is it encountering a '5' to begin with when I've only specified '5.1'?!!?The only way to get the error to stop is to reupload to edmx file (which has not changed at all), overwriting the previous one. At that point the application will happily chug along serving data to users until BAM the error occurs maybe a few hours later, sometimes days later and I'll have to start chasing my tail again.I've tried changing the ProviderManifestToken="5.1" to "MySQL", "6", "5" and the same situation will occur: works for a while then the error. As a bonus I only have this ONE edmx file in the vb.net webforms application so what is it getting confused bythe first few lines of my edmx file looks like:
