If i type a in that textbox it will shows all the suggested string in that.If i comment the logic of GotFocus Event for textbox for autocomplete suggestion then only then Key Press events work else its not working.

Aug 8, 2010I've an old vb6 ocx in order to show an msgbox with autoreply in n seconds.

acts in same way of msgbox, but after 9 seconds (in the example) then auto click the Retry button (the default button, the one with * prefix). maybe I could convert this old ocx to net, but wondering if there is not an better alternative using messagebox.

Oct 18, 2011I'm just now starting to work on something that works 'like' an ide, where it will auto space my text as I type. I really JUST started and I'm not sure if I'm even doing it remotely like I should. anyways, what I'm doing is on TextChanged (eventually I'll just do it on newline but that can wait) it gets the contents of the text box, puts each line into a string array, trims the excess whitespace, see's if it has a keyword in it, and then adds some whitespace to it if it does.I know I'm doing something wrong with either my declarations or my error handling. IDE - VS 2010 - Turn Off Intellisense Auto-complete
Oct 12, 2010is there an option to retain Intellisense suggestions but turn off the auto-complete completely in VB 2010? Since upgrading to Visual Studio 2010, I find that Intellisense's auto-complete is far too eager to replace code. It often happens that while typing a section of code I will find that I need a new variable. Rather than back up in the code and create the variable, I want to be able to type on and add the Dim statement once my train of thought has reached a good stopping point. However, as soon as I try to use an undefined variable or method or property, Intellisense jumps in to replace what I have typed with gibberish.
I like Intellisense showing what methods, properties and parameters are available; however I would like to turn off the feature which automatically triggers auto-complete whenever I type ahead.

Oct 5, 2011I have previously asked a questions regarding DataGridView control:[URL].. now I'm trying to make the first column to include an autosuggestion. ie. when a user types an ID(say, "12") then all the records that starts with it(ie. "12*") will be displayed as suggestion.
And upon clicking an ID, the corresponding product_name will be displayed on the next column. I think, I could do this using Validating() event of DataGridView.

Dec 17, 2011I have a windows desktop application that I'm converting part of it to a windows service application. The win service pulls data out of one database and passes it to a central location via web services. I've got the windows service working, however I'm unsure how to add auto update abilities to it.
The windows service itself is basically an empty shell that fires off the data pulling, which resides in a dll that installs with the service. My original idea was to have the windows service do a version check and if needed download the new dll and overwrite the old one. The problem is the copy can't happen if the service is running (or paused). Herein lies the problem. If I have the service stop itself then of course it's stopped so no more code execution. The other problem would be how to restart it.
I'm trying to create something that is hands/worry free for my clients that way when I change/update the data pulling win service application they don't have to mess with it. I'm up to 300 clients now and I really need a solution that doesn't involve any user interaction.
EDIT: After more digging it's looking like this is a near impossible task. Another option would be to have a second service, one that just looks for updates and that second service can stop the first, update it, then restart it.
VS 2010 Auto-increment Version Control
Apr 26, 2010Since my VB6 days I've longed for this feature. Every time you build a version it increments by one. On VS2005/2008 I've seen a few 3rd party programs or tips and tricks to get something similiar. I mean who wants to see a version no. like 1.0.1234.5678789 I used to use autobuildversion but can't seem to get it working on 2010. Has anyone managed to get the auto increment to work in any shape or form. I can't find the AssemblyInfo.vb file to edit so my program is stuck on 1.0.0.1 unless I manually increment it? I mean is it so hard to implement a built in auto increment function, or am I missing something?
