Aug 22, 2010[code]I have one button to play all the stuff, but it needs the full path to the mp3 file to play, but I only saved the File name to the Listbox.So basically, I'm wondering how to be able to still select files in the Listbox and press Play, when the Listbox's Items do not include the full path to the actual files.I know I could just add the full path to the listbox from the beginning, but I don't think that looks good.So maybe someone can point me in the right direction, or maybe provide me some source code.

Dec 18, 2010I have nine pictures that I need to animate -I need to use the ToString method and a counter to concatenate a file name into a string variable from the Image.FromFile method. Once the counter reaches its maximum value, and the last picture is displayed, the counter should be reset to zero or one depending on how the first image file has been name. Also a static counter variable should be incremented in the time routine. what I have so far -- I know what I have to do; however, I just do not know how to code this properly.. Right now I have this going thru a button procedure but it needs to go through a timer.

Oct 8, 2009How do I get the full file system path to my DLL? I have found a number of calls/properties for "Name", "FullName" etc. The closest I have come is to call Me.GetType().Module.Assembly.GetName().CodeBase. But that string has stuff appended to the front of the actual filename. Plus I don't know if a codebase is always available (say if I don't do "regasm /codebase" on my assembly.I simply want something like "c: empmyproject.dll". That is, what GetModuleFileName would return. Surely I don't have to call Marshal.GetHINSTANCE(Me.GetType().Module).ToInt32()) and then directly invoke the Windows GetModuleFilename API for something so basic.ps. I always wonder why there is an "Alert me" check box at the bottom of the post page. Never been alerted although it is always checked (my profile has my e-mail address).

Prog1.exe is in folder1
Prog2.exe is in folder1/subfolder
When I execute this in Prog1,
Process.Start("subfolder/Prog2.exe")
Prog2 runs.
But...When I execute this in Prog2,

sw.write("something")
sw.close
1.txt is created in folder1, and not subfolder.
I can do a easy workaround by passing the full file path when creating the streamwriter, but I just want to know if it's a bug or what.

Jul 16, 2010I need to access a file path, but a part of the path is different on each PC. Mozilla creates a random profile name for each PC it is installed on. I can get most of the path through environment variables. I need to access the files inside of the default profile, but can't since I'm not sure how to access it.
Here's an example of the file path:
'C:Users\%USERPROFILE%AppDataRoamingMozillaFirefoxProfilesxxxxxxxx.default'
The only thing that stays the same with the profile name, is the '.default' part.
Differences PictureBox.ImageLocation And Image.FromFile()
Jun 20, 2009I am a little bit confused about PictureBox.ImageLocation and PictureBox.Image = Image.FromFile().
The problem: If I use PictureBox.Image = Image.FromFile() then I am not able to do something with the file unless I dispose the PictureBox (which I most likely don't want to do).
If I use PictureBox.ImageLocation instead, I get the same result but I am still able to delete / move / overwrite the picture file.
So, just to get confused entirely: What are the differences between PictureBox.ImageLocation and Image.FromFile? When should I use the first, when should I use the second?Listing SPEC's is not a review !!! :-)

Form Box Does Not Display New Background Picture Upon Image.FromFile ?
May 2, 2010I've been trying to make an image viewer that keeps top most while I do other things (like typing, etc), so I don't have to hop windows, or sacrifice screen real estate.I made a main form, and a configuration form (opened by pressing o), with options to set the main form's opacity (working), the picture displayed (as the form's backgound picture, not working), and if the main form stays top most or not (working).
Instead, the form just keeps displaying the image I set in the IDE.I first used a picture box to display the picture, which did not work, and decided I didnt need to have a picture box if I set the picture as the form's background picture.I tried looking at what could be going wrong, but couldnt find out much more than the path is being delivered to the main form.I'm working on Vista Home Premium 32bit SP2, VS2003, and here's the code.PS The code links to a D:ath-fin.jpg that I used as the default background picture, and the code is for 2 seperate forms.

I am trying to write a backup program that will copy all pst files to the server while maitaining the structure, so if there is a pst located in "C:pstuserpersonal1.pst" it would create the folder "\serverpstuserpersonal1.pst" and copy the file to the correct location. I would need it to do this for each pst on the hard drive no matter the location. The user running the program will not have admin rights, so it will need to skip files it cannot access.

May 9, 2011I am developing an application that will call to the current user path so that a text file can be saved. I have seen a few forum threads that call to the current user path but I have been unsuccessful in making it work. Id like to try and save a text file, lets say 'test.txt' to 'C:Users(current user)My Documents' [URL] The above link has a way of calling the current user name, but when I publish the application, all it does is call to 'C:UsersMy Documents' and ultimately does not work. I thought the %AppData% should find the relative path. When I go 'Start|Run|%AppData% windows explorer takes me to that directory. I can not put the full path in, as the user is different on each client machine.

May 25, 2010Here is my project path: d:myapporder. In the project folder there is a image file myImage.bmp.I want to load myIamge.bmp into a picturebox as below. It works.

In order to create a setup project, I change code as below but not working.
picturebox1.Image = Image.FromFile("myImage.bmp")
How to modify it so that program can install another drive instead of "d:..."?
