Way To Do Collisions From All Angles
Aug 19, 2009Well I attempted collision detection and it was only ok. First of all only the out of bounds place would work because I just made the right side of the screen make you go left etc.My moving button also goes outside of the area for a brief second before it teleports back to the bounds + 3 or w/e.Never mind all of that I guess.Could someone give me some source code for the simplest way to do collisions from all angles (like a zelda game or something...) or just up/down or left/right (like in pong).

Mar 9, 2011I followed this tutorial [URL] in creating a pong game in VB NET, everything worked well as followed but believe there is still more development that needs to be done to it, for example if the ball is moving horizontally in a straight line, it will just re-bound of the paddles in the same angle everytime which means there is no point to the game. When the game starts moving the ball at a random angle and the ball re-bounds of either paddles, it will re-bound in the same angle it started with each time.

(1) Disposals removed for brevity.
(2) I test the code with a 200 x 200 rectangle.
(3) Size 600,600 it just an arbitrary large value that I know will fit the right and bottom sides of the rotated image for testing purposes.
(4) I know, with this code, the top and left edges will be clipped because I'm not transforming the orgin after the rotate.
The problem only occurs at certain angles:
(1) At 90, the right hand edge disappears completely.
(2) At 180, the right and bottom edges are there, but very faded.
(3) At 270, the bottom edge disappears completely.
Is this a known bug?If I manually rotate the corners an draw the image by specifying an output rectangle, I don't get the same problem - though it is slightly slower than using RotateAt.

Aug 20, 2010Im making a little game. All it does is make a bunch of Random Letters. Move around the screen. Im drawing to the form with paint. But i wanted to make it. So you have to click the letter that my program ask's you to click. I know there is easy ways of doing this. Like just getting the x,y and the mouse x,y on the click event. But i was wondering. If i could accomplish this task. Just by Scanning about 10x10 pixels from where the mouse down event is triggerd. to see if a letter is there. And how i could make it see if it is an A or B etc. The font is white. And about this size. I was thinking about it counting all the white pixel's but that wouldn't work?

Now if some user will change add or remove the data from this file, it will end up with error or sth. I also tried to write sth like this:
Open "C:in.txt" For Input As intInFile
But there appears an error, that open is not declared and IO functionality is microsoft.visualbasic namespace. I added this name space (at the top: Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic), but this error still occurs.

May 25, 2012I have a windows form with a textbox and a button, what I am trying to do is enter a number in the textbox and when clicked on the button to cut and paste the data in to a new text file (from number 0 to the number I entered).ie, textfile 1 has 100 lines of data, I enter 25 and press OK I would like to take the first 25 lines and save them into a new text file and save the remaining lines in textfile 1 so it should be like textfile1 75 lines and textfile2 25 lines.The closest I've come to this is the following but this only deletes the one line..[code]

First I think I would need to do this:

Jul 1, 2011I have a text file with user names in them on separate lines. I want to check to see if any of the lines doesn't match the exact text im checking for. It doesn't matter what line the text is on, as long as it is in there. If it's not, alert me. Previously i tried .contains() but obviously if a user name is "hello" and another's is "helloworld" it will match both of them.So basically i need to read all the lines in the txt file and if none of them lines contains the specific text im looking for then alert me. Dec 16, 2011I have the following code to read a csv file and copy each line to another file as long as it does not contain certain strings, it seems to work a little but it leaves some lines in it shouldn't, and it's also taking lines out it shouldn't as if I keep running it again on each output file it eventually takes everything out!

Feb 28, 2012Some of my users are collecting data files this size and wish to load it in to my tool. Is there a way to load large files of string data w/o getting a OutOfMemoryException? I have tried many different storage methods (Array, List, etc) but always without success.Before anyone asks 'why load it all at once', let me say the nature of my app is speed critical and it must be so.

VS 2010 Reading Data From Lines Of .ini File?
May 23, 2011Here's what i've got so far, i've written all of the data that i'm going to put into my config file, however i'm having trouble reading the specific string values that I need from that ini file. The parts of the ini lines I want to get are the values in between the I've tried using streamreader a couple things but i'm having trouble figuring that out. I need to parse each line of the ini file to get that value in between the single quotations, so that I can set the value for my richtextbox background and text color as well as a few other things that i've set up in my notepad including tab spacing and so on. lots of these different values need to be converted from a string value to integers, and boolean values as well. (4 of them, the rest of them don't have to be changed because they are already string values when my application reads them to determine it's application load settings.
EDIT: I just noticed in the preview that this is from the version of the app where I had streamwriter write "______ value=" & Something to a file. lol some of the (')s are still in this version, so please excuse that little part. I had them in, but took them out so that I could trim data to get a value easier, but I want to use (')s hopefully when all is said and done.For example, just to restate what I want - in the ini file it will read [setting name] value='VALUE'I want to be able to "get" the string value of "VALUE" within the ini file between the 2 single quotations '

Sep 3, 2009how to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.

The only thing I can do for now is either use the substring function to remove the first character from all array values after 0 but I don't like that because it's messy and what if the split "works" as I want it to one one of the lines and knocks of the first character when I don't want it to.
