VS 2010 Set The Maximum Number Of Digits Before The Decimal?
Sep 2, 2010
Im wanting to use a textbox for the entry of Decimal figures (currency). Is there any way I can have it so if a user does not put a decimal figure (ie 15 instead of 15.00) it will put it on.
I tried a masked textbox, but that means i have to set the maximum number of digits before the decimal too which is no good.

Is there a format string to format a decimal to 000000000,00. So first 9 digits, right padded with zeros if needed; a comma as fraction separator and two fraction digits.
0 => 00000000,00
12 => 00000012,00
987456,456 => 000987456,46
So something like myDecimal.ToString("D9") together with .ToString("F2").

I need a regular expression that requires at least ONE digits and SIX maximum. I've worked out this, but neither of them seems to work. ^[0-9][0-9]?[0-9]?[0-9]?[0-9]?[0-9]?$ ^[0-999999]$

How do I allow only a decimal point after an input of three digits in a textbox in VB.NET?
Let's say I inputed "123" after that I can only put a decimal else it wont allow any other input. So the result would be "123."
Dim KeyAscii As Integer
KeyAscii = Asc(myE.KeyChar)
Select Case KeyAscii

In the discussion in this thread: [URL] it was reveiled to me that vb.net, using double, could only calculate values up to 18 digits after decimal.... so I started thinking and came up with this class
Public Class LargeNumber
Private pNumber As String
Public Sub New()
[CODE].............
I want to split the string into a series of doubles.... and than combine them into a large number.... The size of each double component should be 18 digits on a 32 bit computer... so that I will have room to add the last carrier...

I am writing a custom totaling method for a grid view. I am totaling fairly large numbers so I'd like to use a decimal to get the total. The problem is I need to control the maximum length of the total number. To solve this problem I started using float but it doesn't seem to support large enough numbers, I get this in the totals column(1.551538E+07). So is there some formating string I can use in .ToString() to guarentee that I never get more then X characters in the total field? Keep in mind I'm totaling integers and decimals.

I need to round like this:
12 -> 10
152 -> 200
1538 -> 2000
25000 -> 30000
etc.
Twisting my head, but can't see how to make this. Must work for any n number of digits. Anyone got an elegant method for it?

Is there a number format in .Net that will display a given number of significant digits, but also NEVER displays in scientific notation (for example,declaring 3 sigfigs you would have 1234.567 = 1230 and .000123456 = .000123)

I am using Crystal Enterprise 10 to run Adhoc Query to generate reports.My database has data with 4 digits after decimal point. But, the Ad Hoc query report rounds the data to 2 digits and displays that. Is there a way I can change this default behaviour to show the data as it is without rounding it?

I'm using VS 2005, after VB6 to VB.NET conversion we have fixed all the errors but still have unidentified number of warnings. Is there any way to increase this limit of 101 warning you can see after compiling? I want to actually see the total number of warnings to get an idea how much work is there.

My issue is that some websites only allow say 15 characters maximum to be used to create a user name where other sites do not. Currently I have one text box on the screen and a button, and a web browser that navigates to two sites.Site #1 has a cap of 15 characters max to create a user nameSite #2 doesn't have any maximum amount of characters to use.I am wanting to know how I can enter lets say a 20 character username into the text box and have the code set a max of 15 characters for site one and nothing for site 2. I was thinking that this could be done when passing the information from the text box to the text box on the screen with something like
Textbox1.Text.value.length= maximum 15
Site #2:
Textbox1.Text
[code].....

What is the maximum number of executions in a while loop in VB.net that it will allow? Meaning, it is checking for a variable to equal some value, but that value never comes? How many times will it execute the code before it quits? Is there some way to set the maximum number of executions without terminating it programmatically?

Project Euler's problem 16:2^(15) = 32768 and the sum of its digits is 3 + 2 + 7 + 6 + 8 = 26.
What is the sum of the digits of the number 2^(1000)?I have been trying to do this problem for a few days now and i just can't figure out how to get vb.net 2008 to recognize anywhere near that large a number. I have seen in other posts that some software like java has the integer type BigNumber or BigInteger but i cant find anything like that in visual basic. I'm running into this problem a lot using Visual Basic. I also can't seem to find any of the standard upper level math features in visual basic such as factorials and a few others that i can't remember but couldn't find under the math feature. any suggestions? (Sorry let me rephrase, any suggestions on how to do this stuff without switching to a different programming language.)
