View 3 RepliesHow can I display data fetched from several rows on a crystal report. I am using vb.net. So far I can just display data fetched from only one row.
View 1 RepliesIm using vb.net and I need to fetch data from two different tables and display it in form of report. These are the schemas and data of my two tables:
CREATE TABLE personal_details (staff_ID integer PRIMARY KEY, title varchar(10), fn varchar(250), ln varchar(250), mn varchar(250), dob varchar(50), hometown varchar(250), securityno varchar(50), phone varchar(15), phone2 varchar(15), phone3 varchar(15), email varchar(250), address varchar(300), confirmation varchar(50), retirement varchar(50), designation varchar(250), region
[code]....
My problem is that nothing displays on the report unless I take off either the training fields or the personal_details fields from the report.
how am i supposed to get all the data from excel to mysql? and then it will be placed to a temporary table in mysql, after that create a compare and replace query or vb .net code to compare the data.
View 1 RepliesI created a VBA project in Excel. I would like to figure out how to transfer the data back in forth to make a more presentable and user-friendly program in VB Studio.Basically, I need my form in VB to input data to into an excel workbook.data, where the calculations are preformed. Then I need to copy the finished excel data cells workbook.results and paste them into an end result form in VB. I have tried looking at threads and cannot come up with a solution. There is no data saved each time the program runs, so I don't have a database.

Working on a project trying to use mysql and Visual Studio C++ 2010. I have an established connection to the database on a server using a connection string. My issue is I am not sure how to get the retrieved data displayed in dataGridView. Below is where I have my code for the button named Search. Right now all I am trying to do is get already inserted information out and displayed. Not sure if I am utilizing the dataGridView correctly or if there is another way. When I select bind to database I do not show any data sources even though in my server explorer window I show that I am connected. I have googled my eyes out and still havent found any information relating to a non console application. Here is some code that worked and returned a value of 1 to a textbox just stating that it had no errors in the execution. [code]

View 15 RepliesI have been reading about ADO, SQL, datasets, data adapters etc and have gone into information overload. My next step is to create a simple data file of my own that I can manipulate, update, sort etc in VB Express. Do I need another piece of software? I read about MySQL, which I understand is primarily used to access databases on the net, but can that be used to create a simple local data file on my PC? Can you simply hard code something in VB Express?

What i have going on, is i have a MySQL connector as a resource on my application, and im basically trying to connect to my MySQL server, to either a) register a new account, or b) check that the account exists and they are premium, and login, Now what i have run into problems with is: My MySQL Database Name has a _ in it which VB is not allowing for some strange reason.
The code i am using is below
Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient
Public Class Form1
Function UpdateRecord(ByVal query As String) As Integer
[CODE]...
How i can allow the _ into the application, because the only databases that don't have a _ in the user or dbname are a) Paid ones which i DO NOT have the money for or self hosted ones, i cannot leave my computer on 24/7
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click[code]...
it checks the username and password in the database and redirecrs to respective page on the basis of rows returned. i'm having problem in finding a right function in the sqldatareader namespace so that it counts the number of rows affected.
I have a project where I added visually and successfully a datasource of MySql. I binded a datagridview with a table.
But, how do I change programatically the password, ip or user to connect with the MySql server? Because it can change at any time, so I can let the user change these values.
I've got a problem since I have one form with some text boxes getting data from an Excel sheet and other text boxes getting data from other sheets from the same Excel file. And when I choose a product no I would like that all the text boxes retrieve data referring to the same product no.

Dim oBook As Object = oExcel.Workbooks.Open("C: est.xlsx")

View 15 RepliesI decided to to convert my excel macro in a exe file using visual studio 2010. In excel macro method find is present like this:

I finally got this code to work:
vb
Dim path As String = OpenFileDialog1.FileName
Dim myDataset As New DataSet()
Dim strConn = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.Oledb.12.0;Data Source=" & path & ";Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0;HDR=YES;IMEX=1""")
Dim myData As New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM [Sheet1$]", strConn)
myData.Fill(myDataset)
DataGridView1.DataSource = myDataset.Tables(0).DefaultView
Now that I figured that out I was going to try and place the data in a specific location. On my application I have a datagridview set up with 4 columns. What I would like to do is put column A of the excel file under the 1st column of the datagridview and column C of the Excel File in the second column of the datagridview.
So replace:
vb
DataGridView1.DataSource = myDataset.Tables(0).DefaultView
With:
vb
DataGridView1.columns(0) = myDataset.Tables(0).columns(0)
DataGridView1.columns(1) = myDataset.Tables(0).columns(2)
Obviously this doesnt work, and something tells me I might need a for loop to import the data, but I have never imported information from an Excel file before and to make it worse I have never worked with datagridviews before so I have no idea how to go about this.
I would like to do something like this if I could:
vb
For x = 1 To xldoc.rows.length - 1
DataGridView1.Item(0, x).Value = CType(xlDoc.Cells(0, x + 1), Excel.Range).Text
