I have a form on which I want the user to be able to select a name from a list. The list needs to be populated from an table in my dataset. I'd like the user to begin typing and have an autocomplete append select type feature let them zero in on the person they want as they type. My question is, what type of control would work best for this?

When I click the amend button I want to the cmbPriority.SelectedText to = whatever is in txtPriority.Text. The item in the field will always be in the list. The ComboBox contains a list of various items where the user can select from a list, the type of query he/she would like to perform on an Access Database. Two of the items in the Drop Down List are "Employee Sales Between Specified Weeks" and the other item is "Employee Sales Between Specified Months" (without quotation). Now in my VB code, i have a really long If/ElseIf Statement which includes all the options the user can select. Additionally, if the user has selected a week query, he/she must select a From Week, a To Week and a Year (for example week 3 to week 5 year 2009). From Week is another combobox (1-53 weeks) and To Week is also another ComboBox (1-53).When the user selects a month query, he/she should select a From Month from a ComboBox (1-12) and a To Month from another ComboBox (1-12) and the year from the same Combobox (e.g 2009).
View 5 RepliesI have 2 linked DB tables, Artists and Albums using ArtistID as the primary/foreign key.When I want to add a new Album, I have a new form open and I can fill a combobox with the list of Artists to choose from and edit all the details then save to the database.

I have a combo box that is populated with a list of objects (corresponding to all employee rows from a database that meet the criteria IsTech). These are not entity objects though, I have created my own class that stores the member values of each row from the DB. I have set the DisplayMemberPath to EmployeeId so the Combo box display the EmployeeId ( an integer ) member of my object. Ie. right now there are only 2 IsTech employees in my DB so the combobox displays the numbers 3 and 8 ( their EmployeeIDs).

I have on my form a combobox and a checkbox.What I want to do is when the user checks the checkbox all the values contained in combobox will be selected. So a multi-select for all items of combobox when the checkbox is checked.I tried this:

I'm converting a user generated list box to an array and then generating a user defined number of random strings and placing it in a textbox.The code I have works fine as it will generate the number of random strings the user wants, except sometimes a line is blank at the top of the list but is counted as a string.

The list is roughly 20 names, but it could grow to a hundred or more. Since the contact information changes periodically, I would like a very easy way to maintain it (Excel or Access).
Update: I am just trying to understand whether I should use Linq (have to learn it) or is there some other way this should be done.

I am new to vb.net and I have looked at other topics. I cannot find the answer I need. OK I have a combobox named cboRaceDesc and five checkboxes (CkRaceAfricanAmerican, ChkRaceAmerican Indian, ckRaceAsian, ckRacePacificIslander, and ckRaceWhite). I was going to post an image, but I cannot.cboRaceDesc has two options...Hispanic and Other. If the user selects Other then they have to choose one of the five checkboxes or it will raise an exception when the record is being saved. I am assuming I would generate the code under the "save" button. I know I need to gather the following information in my code:

Basically, the user should be able to type somthing in the textbox, click a button which adds it to the combobox, then click another button which adds it to the listbox. I have all of this done fine, but i am running into some trouble and have some questions.
First, theres a textbox right ontop of my combo box. I would like the textbox text to display whatever value is selected in the combobox. right now its just always blank because the textbox is on top.
Next, if the item from the combobox is added to the listbox, you should not be able to delete it from the combo box. how would i achieve this?
Finally, i need to create a function named "is included" that searches the listbox to check if a certain value is included in the list box. This search just needs to return true or false. I have no idea where to start with this part or what i should do.

The problem is when I run/debug my program in Visual Studio 2010, I have a comboBox/dropdown menu which allows the user to select from 3 combinations of years and interest rates. I can select and get output from choices 2 and 3 but not choice 1. Choice 1 being 7 years at 5.35%.

So I've made a program in VB 2010, and it has three comboboxes and a button to view. Now lets say my first combobox is "Type of website". The options are "search engines", "social networking" and "news". The second combobox values would depend on what the first combobox value is selected, like if it was "news" the options would be "technology", "uk", "us", and "world".
The third combobox would then use the values in the first and second comboboxes to give even more values, for example if it was "news" and "technology" the values would be "engadget" etc. Then the view button would open the selected website in an internet browser. How would I code this?

When the user selects a few rows from my list box i want to run code on them selected items which i can do fine, but when the user only selects one of items and hits the button. it goes throught the loop first and gets the picture and all is fine its when it comes back to this function after there are no more items to perform tasks on. it increments index again and then falls over because its out of bounds of the array. i want it to stop after one loop but i also want it to be able to have the multiselect option still so the user has a choice.
I tryed everyway to do this, I need to know how to make the list of items from a combobox dropdown without a click.And it doesnt work just calling the event...
