View 2 RepliesI want to build a macro which adds a ; to every line end, which hasn't already got one and is not empty or a { or }. I use C# in Visual Studio 2010 Professional so I probably need a VB Macro. I need it because I have to migrate Unittest from VBS to C# (Don't ask why). So I got thousands of lines like foo="53" bazz=1337 I do not care if support is dropped, I should be done in some weeks. Also if there is one ; put in to much, i still review the code later.
View 2 RepliesI have a couple of VB6 programs which work 100%, however not under W7, so I need to upgrade them to Visual studio 2008 pro which I own a copy of.The VB6 software used to open a file, read in a line of data and process it then save it in a new file, before going on to the next line input.I need to convert this process to VS2008 pro and can't get my head around it..... getting old you see.I also have a few other needs to do with file handling, but I may be able to sort them myself if I get a start with the above problem....
View 17 Repliesi notice that when i start next line of code and i press enter, it recompacts itself and the continued line moves left a bit... then if i place focus on the second line and press enter again, it (the second line) moves to the left some more, and it keeps doing this every time i focus on second line and press enter. how can i make it so that my second (and third etc) lines are formatted in a pre-determined way so they are always a certain amount of tabs indented to the right from where my line 1 starts?

I am creating a VB application in Visual Studio 2010 that installs some SQL stored procedures. These stored procedures are encrypted otherwise I would just supply my clients with .sql files to create the stored procedures.
The install script that creates the stored procedure is 1500 lines in length and has been formatted in the way VS 2010 requires multi-line literals to be in:

I have to compile projects which was compiled in Visual Studio 6 in Visual Studio 2005. When i compiled i got a set of same error. I opened the project for VS6 by selecting File->open->project/solution and tried to build a solution by Build option but i am getting the following error.

* The application should allow users to create as many new forms as they want and each form should behave like a MS Visual Studio WinForm. By saying that it should be a container for drag and drop of controls from the toolbox that I will develop....
* Once the user design's each screen to his taste by placing various controls on the form, he should be able to save the form as a screen. Of course I have to provide functionality for each of the controls such as if he drags a button on to the form, he should be able to specify what action it has to perfom when clicked when the application is put into run mode. Quite similar to regular windows form button.
* My application should have two modes: a DESIGN MODE, where user can drag, drop controls and specify what they should do when put into RUN MODE. This is quite similar to MS Visual Studio designer.
* Last but not least is to be able to access the application via the browser with the same look and feel his desktop version.

Will i be able to successfully install 2010 beta 2 side by side 2008? because i want to test 2010 features and some development toolkits such as silverlight while i don't want to uninstall my visual studio 2008 professional.

I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash. Solution will compile and build.

I have a windows application that displays a multi-line message box to the user during the course of the program.This particular application is run on various machines running either XP, Vista, or Windows 7.When the application is run on an XP box, the formatting of the Messagebox looks great. When the program is run on a Vista or Windows 7 machine, the text in the messagebox is eschew and the formatting looks sloppy.Is there a way in Visual Studio to ensure the formatting of text in Messageboxes is consistant between XP and Vista/Win 7?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to Debug and code an program in VB.net 2005 in windows XP. When I start my service and attach it for debugging it hangs at the line:System. ServiceProcess.ServiceBase. Run(ServicesToRun)The service says it is started under windows service dialog, but does not go further in the code, it just sits there..Does anyone have any solutions to this problem? I started out by retrieving the html code before i realised that as it is live data, the html code will be of little use. Although i am looking to capture specific data, all i wish to do is process a webpage that i specify which will return the text off that website and not the HTML code.

I want these labels to display the text from a third party Software program.
The text is displayed in a child form of the main form the text is in
"window handle is 000E0678"" RichEdit20W"
The text scroll up continuously,
every time - let's say
John (10year) 'is displayed, it takes the 10y and place it
in Label1
Ann (22year 7Street) 'is displayed, it takes the 22y & place it in Label2 7St in Label3
get that text in the labels I only know a little VB. I have used Spy++ to get the window handle
Yes lots for the pro's but we dont understand it, if its just code we dont know where to start or make changes to that code. This is something simple that beginners will understand
