I just realized I used my non-partner account the first time, and I want to make sure I receive priority support. In addition, I found out more about my problem and made a much clearer example.Basically I'm having problems getting a dynamically compiled vb.net "script" to find external references (even though they are being added by fully qualified path). I also tried adding /libpath to my compiler options, and still it cannot find the assemblies.[URL]..
And here is a reference to my original post (with not-so-easy to understand code snippets):[URL]..
I working on a project that includes to call a certain type of method to each control, i have this code:
Private Sub txtBcNum1_KeyPress(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles txtBcNum1.KeyPress
If Char.IsDigit(e.KeyChar) Or e.KeyChar = Chr(8) Then
[Code]....
I have 15 textboxes( txtBcNum1,txtBcNum2,....,txtBcNum15 ), what's the best way to call this function inside KeyPress method on each textboxes with out manually adding it to KeyPress method?

View 3 RepliesI'm in the proccess of creating an XML editor nothing fancy for a project I'm working on!
I got the idea of using the tab control to host multiple Richtexbox controls, nothing fancy.
I got the idea from Visual studio(2010) that it would be nice to have a close tab button, on the tab, but I can on get it to display on the tab
Code:
Dim CurrentTab As TabPage = TabControl1.TabPages(e.Index)
Dim ItemRect As Rectangle = TabControl1.GetTabRect(e.Index)
If CurrentTab.Controls.Contains(mButton) = False Then
[Code].....
I know it adds it to the Tabpage but I cannot find anyway to add to the tab itself, even though the text on the tab is using ItemRect!
Are the tabs themselves hidden like columnls are on other controls!
I have a button that I want to make default, but without the border thing around the button. Is this possible to do?
View 1 RepliesI have defined a class with multiple constructors so that the underlying interfaces are immutable once the object is instantiated. I would like one of the constructors to be the "default" constructor for when a user types the following in Visual Studio:
var obj = new MyClass( Dim obj As New MyClass(
Currently when I go to instantiate the object, the constructors aren't listed (in Visual Studio IntelliSense) in the order I declared them in my class. Is there a way to mark up my constructors so that their methods appear in a particular order during instantiation in Visual Studio IntelliSense?
Ok, so I've got this Visual Studio 2008 Project I was working with about a year ago perhaps. And this project had a datagrid that was linked to an external database running on a server off the internet. Now, this databinding was all done using Visual Studio 2008's built in features. But how can I now change the binding to a different server, without destroying the project? I've noticed that a lot of the code that Visual Studio creates makes a mess. So manually trying to change the datasource has allways f*cked up the whole project for me.
I'm not all that good with this stuff, that's why I used the built in features of Visual Studio. But I noticed that several things appear, like a binding source, and a dataset. Is it possible to do this? Perhaps even better, making these settings be controlled after the program has been compiled. The way it is now, it's all hard coded after compiling, and that kinda sucks. I remember trying to do this about a year ago, trying to bind these settings to variables stored in settings. But I never got that to work. Just throwing around ideas here
I created a VB Console app and it defaulted to .NET 4 but I need it to be .NET 3.5. I've been looking but all the references I find say to change it on the 'Compile' tab in properties but I don't have a compile tab or anything else that lets me change the target framework.
Note: I'm using VS2010 Ultimate
How do I remove the maximize button from a form? I've already disabled it but it still shows up, it just doesn't work. I want a form with only the close and minimize buttons. It's a Windows Form Application and I'm using Visual Studio 2010.

View 3 RepliesI am using Visual Studio Ultimate. I have made a fairly long program which worked fine. One day I find that the debug button was disabled and both the build and rebuild buttons do not work. I have tried opening the same project files in Visual Basic Express 2010 but still, the sane problem.

I am using in built sql server 2005 which comes with visual studio 2008 in my project.This is my connection string.SQLConnection oConnection = new SQLConnection("Data Source=.SQLExpress Initial Catalog=Fas");
When I try to open the connection like oConnection.open() I am getting error like "Login failed for this user. User is not associated with trusted connection."By some googling I get the idea that I am using Windows authentication mode. So how can I change it to mix mode authentication? I dont have separate sqlserver installed on my system. It is same that comes with visual studio 2008
We have upgraded our project from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010 without any issues until now. Our project contains a folder call Libraries which contains different versions of Oracle ODP.NET DLL's as well as different versions of Telerik DLL's. Our project contains references to one of the versions of each. The problem is once we remove the reference and re-add it by browsing to the new version, again inside the Libraries folder inside the project, it adds the reference, but to the same version we just removed. We can even copy the DLL to our desktop, remove the reference and add to the new one on our desktop and it still will point to the Libraries folder version???. The only we we can actual change the reference to the new DLL is by manually changing the path in the .vbproj file, which is obviously not going to work for us. The same behaviour worked perfectly in VS 2008. We switch our references quite often, when new versions come out, but also far more often to QA different versions of ODP.NET and Telerik Control DLL's, so manually editing the .vbproj file is becoming quickly cumbersome. If I browse to a specific version at a specific path, Visual Studio should ALWAYS do what I'm telling it to do..
I did some seaching and came across a few other people with the same issue. This better not be as designed and if it's a bug, which I believe it to be, when will it be fixed?[URL]..
I have written a small application that will allow the user to use DreamScenes on there desktop in Windows XP but i can't get the screen to refresh to reflect the desktop changes. The refresh routine i have used will only work once....This program is part of an application i am writing to allow users to customize/modify the windows xp source. Here is my code:
Imports System.Collections.ObjectModel
Public Class Form1
Dim DSNAME As String
[code].....
Every time I make even a very small change to a form in the form designer, when I try to move off the screen to write code, or run the application, VS 2010 takes up to 1 hour to figure out what the small change was, process it and then let me continue. Is there some fix that I am missing to make VS 2010 be able to handle small changes to the form_designer, or is this just the way it is?

View 2 RepliesI am developing a next gen App for my Email Client for future Windows 8 users. Now when i used to use Visual Studio (Visual Basic) 2008 to develop for Windows 7, I used the command "FORMNAME.show()" And that command would open the form. The Problem i am having now is that "SHOW" is not included and im guessing that there has to be another way to do this. For the Beta version of my app, i created a test Button that i want to open a "SplitPage1" the button is called " btnOpen"?Now to give you an idea what i wanna do, i made buttons on the top right hand corner that are called "File , Edit , View" and so on, and when the user clicks file, i want a spiltpage to open with all the options the user would regularly have when clicking file on a menu tab in a program. the options would be lined up on the left hand side when you hover over lets say "New Email" on the right hand side there will be a short description that will appear saying "create a new email to send" and when clicked on it will take the user back to the mainPage and it redirect the browser to "SendnewEmail url".
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to find a way to change the name of a text box if the name of the text box is first declared as such:[code]I tried the statement: Name = "SBox" & My. Settings. Row Countx but maybe this is wrong. To be very brief I'm trying to resolve this to under the following scenario:
1. Add a new text box to a tab page when user selects "add" button.
2. Each text box must be assigned a unique name
3. Data entered in each text box will be then be saved in my.settings (i.e., for each text box, there will be a corresponding variable/name to hold its text value)
In my form, there is 1 Button and 1 Label.
There is no text in Label1 right now.
I have coded the button:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Label1.Text = "1"
End Sub
End Class
Now when i run the project, i click on Button1 and Label1 has text in it "1" as it is in the code.
I want when i again run the project, the text in the label should be changed once i click Button1.
