Query To Update One Row In Datagridview
Jun 13, 2010I need to run a query when I add/Change a value in my first column in a datagridview. When I add a value (a identifier from a table) in my first column, then I need the query to retrive the rest of the values in the table recordset. When I try to run a query, all i get is a query that updates my whole datagridview, and not only one row, with this code in the CellValueChanged module of the datagridview:
Me.myTableTableAdapter.FillBymyQuery(Me.myDatabaseDataSet.myTable, CType(DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Cells(0).Value, Integer))
Is there anyone who knows what I have to do, so I can add several rows to my datagridview, and let a query retrive my recordset based on my value in the first datagridview column?

Nov 23, 2010I need a clarification about using datagridview and query statement. i created a sql express database. In the project has been created a dataset with inside a table. In my form i used a datagridview and in automatic have been created BindingSource, TableAdapter, TableAdapterManager and BindingNavigator.
Till here everything is ok because i can add, delete and save members of the table.
Now i wanted to use another datagridview for a research but i don't understand what to use for do that.

Aug 25, 2009I have an access query which plays flawlesly in Access.I want to use it as a source for a datagridview i use in one of my forms but....given the fact that is a rather big query with some "like" and conditions like ">3" and so on AND the fact it uses tables from 3 different mdb (not to mention is bases on other queries...i 'ill try my best to fix this) what is the best approach .
1st case .Can i retrieve the data simply with NO oledbparameteres and NO " select * xxx where yyy like 'd' ".I think there is a issue with the Oledb connection that "omits" them.To explain better the query right now with the filters in access returns 3 rows, without the filters 30 rows,can i get just the 3 rows to do my job... 2nd case . How should i fill a datagridview using tables from 3 different mdbs.If you can show me an example it would be life saving.

Search(query) Function For A Datagridview?
Apr 10, 2009I tried out the video tutorial from Beth Messi about how to create a search. The tutorial teaches us how to do it through query builder in which we just have to type LIKE@fieldname = '%' for each field we wish to appear on a toolstrip. A toolstrip menu will automatically be generated and placed underneath the form bar for us after we click ok.
Now, I would like to know how can I do this with code? I can use a code which will move the auto generated toolstrip into the tabcontrol but when I have more than 1 tabcontrol, that's when I start having problems - the toolstrips are starting to cover up the tabcontrol. I know I can move the datagridview lower but that is going to leave a big space above it.

Sep 9, 2011This query fails on a dataset when I add the rating wildcard. The other two are fine but it does not like the %. This works fine if I run the SQL directly on SQL server.

is there a way to replicate this behavior using LINQ? Basically I would like the query to select (or return) the first DataGridViewCell whose text contains the search string. I've done some tinkering with sub-queries and the like, but I'm still having trouble wrapping my brain around the concepts (too many years of writing T-SQL, I guess).

Mar 19, 2010I am using a modal form with a datagridview in order to populate textboxes on a parent form. The datagridview is bound to an anonymous type resulting from a linq query, which varies depending on the textbox control whose keypress event is called. I always want to display a key value in column 0 of the datagridview (along with a variable number of additional columns), and then use that key value once the user selects a row.
However, when setting an anonymous type from a linq query as the datasource for a datagridview control, the columns are indexed alphabetically rather than in the sequence selected in the query. This requires setting the displayindex as a workaround, and then keeping track of which column contains my key value. I read elsewhere that this was something fixed in VS2008 SP1, but I still encounter the behavior.

Nov 4, 2010I would like to implement a generic Linq query on a DataGridView.DataSource to retreive a row whith an idField. I did search MSDN, StackOverflow, etc... but didn't quite find what I'm looking for. how I could implement it ?
This is the non-generic code, but I would like to make it work whatever the type of the DataSource is (as long as it implements IEnumerable I guess) and the name and type of the key field.

so because tblcode has 3 fields I have 3 columns which are test1, test2 and test3(the descriptions of Code A,B and C) i tried to use pivots but it didn't work for me since I don't know in advance the number of rows in tblcode?
Binding DataGridView To TableAdapter Query That Takes Parameters?
Aug 3, 2009I'm trying to bind a datagridview to a tableadapter which contains a query that requires parameters (for the WHERE statement of the query). The datasource is a SQL Server database. When I bind the datagridview in design view, it does not let me choose which tableadapter method I would like to use. The way I've been fixing this is to go into the code behind that form, where Visual Studio puts in some auto-generated code that fills a datatable in the dataset and I change the method that it's using there and put in my parameters. I don't think this is the proper way to do it, however, especially because sometimes that code doesn't even get generated! My other solution is to just programatically bind the datagridview to a datatable which I have filled using the tableadapter. This seems like more work than it should be, though.

Jun 14, 2012I have set the combo box dropdown style to dropdown, the auto complete mode to suggest append and the auto complete source to list items. This works fine IF I choose the required item using the mouse. If I type the full item name into the combo box, it is displayed but not selected for use. Is it possible to use a key such as TAB or Return to select the item in the combo box's display area after the drop down window has closed?

Mar 13, 2009I am making a project in VB 2008 that has a Form (form1) that allows me to add new records to a database, and another Form (form2) that allows me to search for records in a database. I have done Form1 already, but my problem arrives in Form2 where I have to query the database. This form consists of 1 textbox (txt_search.text), 1 button (btn_search) and 1 datagridview (datagridview1). The name of my database is db_extras_test2003.mdb and the table I want to search records from is tbl_contacts.
I know +/- the SQL sintax to query the database (SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE columnname = (here i dont know if i put the variable name i have set for the txtbox, or the textbox itself)).I want this in a way that I (or other users) type in the textbox, hit the Search button and the results are shown in the datagridview (i can show the results in another way if it is better to do so).I have done the connection to the database already. Search From 2tables Store Query Result In Datagridview?
Nov 24, 2009I want to make a search form the user completes the 3 textboxes and 2 datetimepickers. (so five components).
Also I have a button called search and a datagridview.
When the user presses the search button it searches into those 2 tables (depending on what user typed in the 3 textboxes and selected on 2 datetimepickers).
Example of search:
The user searches like this:
When it presses the search button the results will be stored in datagridview(first textbox is the field DB-20-RTS from table PatrimoniuMasini and the rest are fields from the specified columns (name of labels) from the second table FoaieParcursMasina -is the second row from this second table).
Here's the code in my search button (don't know how I can store the 5 things(2 datetimepickers and 3 textboxes in the DataGridView) . My problem is in understanding the property item of DataGridView(DataGridView1):
