Way To Reset A Chart
May 9, 2010I'm using the chart control but I came to wonder if it's possibly to reset a chart. I mean not just delete the series but resetting everything in it to default.

Jun 12, 2011I can't seem to get this code to refill the chart with new dat. The first time it executes, all is great, but when I change the year(numericupdown1.value) it adds a new set of data points instead of re-plotting the original set.

VS 2010 Reset A Chart Programmatically?

The data to populate the chart is supplied by the user & then the above code is actioned from a button click event.
I am looking for the user to be able to change the data that is inputted & re-run the graph, so my question is - how do I create a new instance of the chart each time the button is clicked ?
Reset / Clear An Existing Chart To Display New Data
Mar 26, 2012I currently have a chart that plots lines of a changing value every time it is called via a timer.
Everything is running as I expected and I am happy, but now I want to be able to press a [STOP] button which will stop the timer and stop the graph from updating, (which I have coded and is now working OK), BUT I then want the code under this [STOP] button to clear everything from the graph, so when I re-start the timer, the graph is cleared and starts plotting fresh points on a clean graph.
The problem I currently have is that when I press the [STOP] button and then press the [START] button, the new lines that get plotted are "added" to the existing lines that are already on the chart, instead of having a new "blank" chart, with no data on it.
So what I am really asking is does anyone know if it is possible to reset a chart clearing everything off it so it is ready to start displaying fresh data?
I was hoping it was something like: "Chart1.Clear" or something simple like that, but I can't seem to find anything that will do it.
VSTO - Excel Chart, Subtitle For Chart - Access Chart Text Box From Code?
Oct 14, 2011I have a chart in Excel that I'd like to use a subtitle on. There is no SubTitle Property on the chart object, so I looked in the Excel User interface and found that you can only create a sub-title by using a text box. The text box looks like its associated with the chart, not the worksheet, so how would I access that text box from code?

The idea is to be able to clear and reset all of these by clicking a reset button.

May 29, 2009Ok, so I am building my own program to control a video player I have through telnet, I have everything else working except one thing.I have a reset button to reset the player, when I press it, it sends the string "Reset" and the unit resets without a problem.But when I add a code to close the winsock connection upon reset, it doesn't send the string to the unit. I am sure what is happening is the winsock is getting closed at the exact same time it is trying to send the string and so it fails to send, how do I make it close winsock AFTER the string has been sent? Mar 23, 2012How do I dynamically add or remove a chart series on a WinForm. To date all my MS Charting experience has been dealing with ASP.Net charts with static sql select statment to a SQL Database. In the new project that I have been assigned I have different cities with different amounts of points that they want monitored. One city might have 3 an another might have 5 or 7 so I can't hard code the amount of series that I need. It needs to be set up so the amount of series can be flexible depending on the city selected and then display those points on the chart.

Mar 12, 2010I'm having problem with MS Chart chart type column. If there are only 9 bar in the chart like the following picture, then the axis-x label show up properly.
However, there are more than 9 bars bar the chart, the axis-x label wont show up properly, some of them just dissappear.

RDLC Chart - Produce A Chart Showing The Month Along The Y-axis And The Value Up The X-axis
Jan 8, 2009I have the smallest dataset in the world that simply consists of a month (text) and and amount. I want to produce a chart showing the month along the y-axis and the value up the x-axis. How do I do it? I have dragged the chart control onto the report page and populated the dataset. The chart shows but nothing like what I would expect. Just to make it simple I populated the dataset with an amount equivalent to the month number so it should show as 1 in January, 2 in Feb etc...However no matter where I drag the dataset's column names I don't get what I want. Where am I going wrong?
I use this simple loop to populate the dataset:

3.5 Chart Control (Pie Chart)?
Sep 18, 2009I can't figure out how to plot anything on this chart...finally got it to actually display a pie chart, now I'm trying to somehow bind a data source to it and from there, select the series data..I have added the database to the project as a data source but I don't know how to bind it to the pie chart. some other info: this db has 100's of tables and the program I'm working on is going to be a "status monitor" of sorts that will contain about 6-8 different types of charts all plotting different info for me in chart form.I want to bind this one data source to all the charts and just have them display different information (based on the sql query perhaps)

Aug 5, 2010Basically I've coded an Excel 2007 project in VB.NET 2010 that allows you to create charts with a fair amount of interactivity. I want the user to be able to save and reopen this workbook and still have that interactivity in any already-created charts, so they don't have to re-create them.
When I create the charts, I use Sheet1.Controls.AddChart(...), which returns a Microsoft.Office.Tools.Excel.Chart with which I can handle events and such. However, when I reopen the file and look through the Sheet1.Controls collection, there are no Chart objects. Accessing the charts through Sheet1.ChartObjects.Chart gives me Interop Charts, when I need the Tools Charts.
How To Reset A DataGridView
Jun 22, 2010I've created an application that runs queries against a SQL server (via Data Adaptors) in VB.NET 08 and returns the results to a DataGridView. It works great and returns my data, but when I switch to a different query that returns different columns, the DataGridView keeps the old columns from the previous query and adds the new columns from the new query to the end (far right) of the DataGridView. Is there a way to counter this? I don't want those previous unused columns showing up in my results.I tried setting the DataGridView DataSource and DataMember to Nothing and that didn't fix it. Contactid Numbers Won't Reset?
Jan 29, 2011I have a database created with vb 2010 express. I have five records in it now. When i delete two of them the records are removed from the datagrid. the remaining numbers are 1,2,3. if i add a new record the number for this record is number 6 instead of being number 4. the records are removed but not the contactid number.
