if a new value of Calendar is selected, it would trigger .SelectionChanged event, but what if same selected value is clicked again? How should i identify it uniquely?
View 2 RepliesI'm working with a listbox that has, let's say, 20 items. The size of the listbox allows the user to see the first 5 items. However, the listbox has one preselected item which is sometimes not visible because it isn't one of the first 5 items.
After I set the selected Item for the listbox how can I ensure that the lisbox is scrolled appropriately so that the selected item is visible to the user?
If I declare my object at the beggining of my page class, and instantiate it in a dropdownlist selected_index change event. Shouldn't this object be available thru out the entire page and also persist thru a postback? I lose the object in my selected date change event in my calendar.

Writing a little program for my wife and thought it would be cool to have the calendar auto select the next day of her choice when she opens it. Example it's Monday and she opens the program to make notes about things for her girly get together every Thursday. Right now she opens it and has to select the next Thursday first to get the date.
What i thought would be cool is if the program picks the next Thursday for her, in the future the night may change to Tuesday so i don't mind hard coding the selection for now as it wont change all the time.Is there an easy calendar or date picker routine available for this or is it a roll up the sleeves, i searched and not finding anything.

I am trying to make a reminder, but i can't figure out one thing. Anybody out there knows how? I would like my reminder to have a function when you select one date it automaticaly adds 2 reminders up to the day of the event. For example if you select the event at date 24 it would automatically add two events at the calendar at the dates 17 and 10.
View 3 RepliesI have a application which gets info from an external feed where dates are in the format ddMMM. I'm trying to turn them into full date format so I was using DateTime.ParseExact. Which was correctly working out whether it should be 2011 or 2012 . But it is erroring when trying to parse 29FEB (which should be 29 Feb 2012. I can guess why its erroring. But if that correct behaviour is this documented and is there a better alternative? [code]
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to validate a few things in a form I'm building. It has a datagrid with clients info (taken from an access database) and a few textboxes where the user can type some search criteria. The thing is that those same textboxes are used to add new clients to the database and to modify a client's information if one from the datagrid is selected, so I made it that the buttons to insert and modify clients are disabled on load and thenevery time the text on a textbox changes ("TextChanged" event) they become enabled. So far so good. But then I wanted to make it so when a client from the datagrid is selected both buttons become disabled again until the text on a textbox changes (to make sure they're adding a different client and not the same one that was
selected).
I tried using the CellClick event from the datagrid to disable the buttons, but since every time a client is selected from the datagrid the info is shown on the textboxes, this triggers the TextChanged event too, and the buttons become available.So, is there a way I can tell the TextChanged event not to be triggered when the CellClick event occurs?

To avoid freezing the UI, I read that the best solution is to move the code from a While/Sleep loop to a Timer that will be triggered every minute. Following on from my post yesterday (how to anchor buttons/controls to various sides of the current form when the form is resized) I have run into another problem. I am setting the width of my datagrid to be 80% of the form width on a 'form resize' event with 10% of the width at either side so it remains centred in whatever size window is available. This works fine. (mydatagrid.width = me.width/5*4)
I then decided to dynamically set the width of the 2 columns in the datagrid each to 50% of the width of the datagrid. Again, this sub is called in the 'form resize' event. This fails because the datagrid hasn't loaded the data from my sql database when the first 'resize' event is triggered. I did a bit of testing (by placing a simple msgbox statement into the resize event and the load event) and it seems the 'resize' event is triggered three times before the form's load event.
how do I stop the resize event triggering when the form loads (or at least make the load event trigger first).

I am traying to use the DateTimePicker to extract days diff from a date selected on DateTimePicker1 to a date selected on DateTimePicker2. I have no problem substracting the daydiff in numbers of days. The problem I have is that I need the DateTimePicker to tell me how many of those days are weekends (friday, saturday) and how many are weekdays.

I'm having a really annoying issue which I can't get to the bottom of. I've got a NumberUpDown control which has a ValueChanged event. There is only one reference to it in my entire project which I have commented out to prove that it isn't calling the event. Even though the number is not being changed (the control sometimes isn't even in focus!) the ValueChanged event gets called. This is driving me crazy and I wondered if I could back track through the code to see what actually caused this event to trigger?

I've got a datetimepicker control on a vb .net 2008 form. I have set it to show a custom format of "dd/MM/yyyy". The problem is this: - when i click on the arrow button, a small calendar is shown in which i should be able to select a date. The only way i can do that is by using the arrow keys and pressing Enter. Clicking on any date value inside this calendar doesn't do anything.How can i make the value of the datetimepicker change to what i have clicked inside the dropdown calendar?

View 6 RepliesI am facing a issue while using the "validating" event of the maskedtextbox. I have an MDI form, in which there is a main form and a form acting as bottom bar. The bottom bar comprises of buttons for moving to "previous" and "next" forms. If suppose in the main form i have a maskedtextbox and the initial focus is set on it, then on the click event of the button (next; which is on the bottom bar form), it calls the validating event of the maskedtextbox twice. In the validating event of the maskedtextbox, i am checking some validations and if it doesnt pass, then i set [e.cancel = true]. just let me know the reason behind the triggering of "Validating" event twice?
