What Is The File Path Of Resources In VB

Mar 11, 2010

You know when you insert an image into BASIC it makes a new folder called "Resources" and puts the picture in it? Well, I want a file in it so I can access it. PictureBox3.ImageLocation = "C:UsersKenneth RheeDesktopCIBProfiles" + TextBox3.Text + "" + TextBox4.Text + "" + TextBox6.Text + "" + TextBox3.Text + "" + TextBox4.Text + "" + TextBox6.Text + ".jpg"

So basically I want to know the file path of the "resources" folder so even if another person downloads it, they can access the files. I think the file path is something like WindowsApplication1.My.Resources.Resources.icon_cadsoft_eagle because that's what the ImageLocation said in a PictureBox.

File Path, As A String, Of A File In The Application's Resources?

Sep 15, 2011

The reason I ask is that I want to print, at run-time, a file in the application's resources, like this:

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim printProcess As New Process
printProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "C:UsersGeoffrey van WykDocumentsCountdown_Timer_Help.rtf"
' printProcess.StartInfo.FileName = My.Resources.Countdown_Timer_Help
printProcess.StartInfo.Verb = "Print"
printProcess.Start()
End Sub

What Is The File Path As A String Of A File In The Application's Resources

Jan 23, 2010

The reason I ask is that I want to print, at run-time, a file in the application's resources, like this:

Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim printProcess As New Process
printProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = True

[code]....

When I use "C:UsersGeoffrey van WykDocumentsCountdown_Timer_Help.rtf" as the argument of FileName, it works. But when I use My.Resources.Countdown_Timer_Help, it says it cannot find the file.

Where Is Resources Folder, Starting From App Path

Jul 12, 2009

How does the exe app know where to look for its Resources folder? In the development folders of my app it is in one place relative to the GetCurrentDirectory, but in a different set of run-time folders, the relative path is different.

Is there a My.Resources property (or some other property) which knows where this folder is? System.IO.Directory.GetCurrentDirectory tells the app where it is, is there a 'System.IO.Directory.GetResourcesDirectory' (except of course I know there isn't)?

I want the user to be able to copy image files from wherever into the Resources folder without the user having to look for it (the Resources folder) themselves. I can do the OpenFileDialog1 bit myself, I just need to know where to place the chosen file.

Move / Copy Image From Resources To Path?

Sep 9, 2010

I'm trying to copy/move (whichever works in the end) a picture from my resources in my program, to the startup path.

However, when i try it, it tells me that the file could not be found.

System.IO.File.Copy(My.Resources.Image, PATH, False)That will turn up with an error telling me that the value of type Bitmap cannot be converted to string. So i figured i would try to put a .ToString behind it, and then i'll get the File Not Found error.

Access A File Using Relative Path Or Virtual Path?

May 22, 2012

I am trying to read and display a file using MapPath as follows :

Response.ContentType = "Application/pdf"
Dim FilePath As String = MapPath("../Document/123.pdf")
Response.WriteFile(FilePath)
Response.End()

This procedure will work fine and display in the browser. However, if I save the file to C:Document123.pdf, how can I access this file using relative path in MapPath function. Is there an option to access the file which is saved out of IIS server? I am using vb.net 2003.

Convert Unix File Path To Windows Path?

Jun 14, 2012

I'm using acrobat that returns unix paths instead of windows path's. So im wondering if there is a way in vb.net to convert the path to windows path.

i tried using:

docs(i) = javaScriptObj.path().ToString.Replace("/", "").Substring(1)
position = docs(i).IndexOf("")
docs(i) = docs(i).Substring(0, position) + ":" + docs(i).Substring(position + 1)

this only works on local files, but fails when im starting to use network drives.

Compiled File Resources?

Jun 15, 2009

For the last two days or so, I've been trying to get a program to compile another program that will extract a series of files and run them in a given order, like a self extracting zip archive.The program compiles fine and compiles sub programs, but I am unable to go about correctly embedding the resources.The output program shows the large amount of data ( ~12mb from the file I've been embedding to test ), and there are no compile errors.However, I cannot get it to access the resources correctly. It will either result in a compile error about the resource image not being valid / containing any resources, or a friendly "System.Resources.MissingManifestResourceException" being thrown.
