View 2 RepliesI have 16 student machines who can not access the windows live login during the school hours due to filtering restrictions. They need to register Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition within 30 days or the product becomes useless. The registration process wants them to login to access the keys. Is there an alternative way to obtain the keys as a group, rather than one-by-one?Everything I've found redirects to the 2010 version, but the 2008 version works with our textbooks.

View 3 RepliesI have a "ClickOnce" application and on the Splash screen I display the Version. I am also displaying the "CreationTime" (see below) that I thought was when the Build or Publish was done. Today I realized it is displaying the date/time when the application is actually installed on the PC. How do I pull the date when the this version was compiled, Built, or Published? I really do not care which -I just want a constant date the sticks with that version. I'm using VB 2005.

View 2 RepliesI publish a VisualBasic 2008 windows application, from the Build menu, but when I install it by running the installation's setup.exe, an unusual popup window showing Windows connected to the Internet pops momentarily, and then the application opens and runs. But the application's .exe is not in Start > Programs, or on the desktop, or anywhere.Publishing and installation worked perfectly a few weeks ago.
View 1 RepliesI have been using VB Express (and SQL Express) for 8 days now, and this morning for the first time I got a message that I have 22 days left and need to register. When I click to obtain Microsoft registration key I get the untrusted connection warning. Is it ok to take the add exception option?
View 1 RepliesI teach programming at a high school and I have used VB 2005 Express (in a computer lab of 33 clients) for a number of years without a problem. However, this year I switched over to VB 2008 Express and now I am constantly having registration issues. I have found the following ...
1. You must re-register the product for every user on that client
2. Each client must have a unique registration key
3. You are allowed only 30 days of useage without registration
What is happening is I asked my students to register the application themselves. But we keep getting this registration request every time a student switches seats in the room. Now we are getting an error message that says we have had too many registrations from this IP address. Is there a registration key that will work on more than one computer? Is there any way around the registration issue?
Is there any advantage to using the VB2010 express version versus the VB2008 express version? Can they be installed side by side or will VB2010 express replace VB2008? I have no issues with the 2008 version, so I don't know if installing the 2010 version would be of any advantage.

View 8 RepliesI've seen some similar threads on here but no resolution. I have an app written with VB Express 2008 which uses SQL Compact Edition 3.5, the DB that comes shipped with VB Express 2008.
When I publish, I can run the app on my machine (development machine).
When I try and install on another machine, it is giving this error:
object: sql sever compact ADO.NET Data Provider Method: Void ProcessResults(Int32)

I'm having some trouble sharing my application to other PC users. I have tried to Build my application and Publish my application into a folder, zip it, and put it on my website for people to download, but when they try to run the setup file it gives an error message saying they need to download "Mysql.Data V 6.4.4.0", which makes sense seeing how I have a resource that uses this. Do I need to use a different method to pack my application or what? I don't quite understand how I can incorporate this into the files so the end-user doesn't need to do any other downloading than my file.

As the title says, I have a program written in VB.net 2010. When I use the publish feature it creates a manifest and setup file that install the program nicely on another PC, but I think the security settings are somehow wrong because it sits there for ninety seconds upon launch. The program works fine on the computer that built it. There is no CPU usage while it is sitting around.

But when I published and run there was an error saying (see below). [Code] When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception, will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer, rather than be handled by this dialog box.
View 4 RepliesI've been going through a VB book I had while in College, and was trying to figure out different ways of making programs work. One assignment was to create a multi-dimensional array to figure out wind chill factors. The only part I really can't get to work right is using 2 numericUpDown controls. Using 2 dropdown menus was obviously easy because the items are indexed, but as far as I know, numericUpDown controls are not indexed.
Instead I used 2 selectCase statements to determine the index in each updown control, then passed the indexes to a function to determine the answer. The numericUpDown controls both increment by 5, (wind from 5 to 30) (temp from -20 to 15)Just looking to see if someone has any ideas of a better way of doing this.

My click-once app has english and spanish content. In development, it runs fine with the two resource files I have - named multilingual.en-US.resx & multilingual.es-MX.resx accordingly. When I publish it looses these resources for referencing. The files reside in the root directory for the app.

I simply want to call a cell phone and deliver a short text message. The system does not have to receive messages at this time.

View 1 RepliesI'm sure there is an easy answer to this, and it may be "no," but is it possible to create an install file in VB Express 2010 and have that file deploy additional .exe files?
I developed a windows form program that calls fortan routines (in seperate .exe files) for different purposes. I would like to create an install file that deploys not only my VB program, but all of the supporting code.
Is this possible with VB Express 2010? I tried to search for threads about this, but didn't find any that explicitily answered this question.
Am I right in thinking that vb 2008 express does not have any charts?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to build a chart in a windows form using Visual Studio 2008 Express, I've found a couple of tutorials but they say to add a component I don't seem to have... is this a limitation with the express edition?

In VB2008 Express is there any way I can modify the installer once the App has been publsihed or before in the projects window? it seems to just create all this automatically but I would like to include some options etc.
View 2 RepliesI have been using the VB2008 express edition following Bob Tabors's 18 course lesson in VB 'snapshot 5'. I was starting lesson 14 on the RSS reader. This lesson adds the .mdf for the first tome. The .mdf file was unable to be opened due to some message about code 603?. The final requst is that the database be recreated. What would you suggest. I was not expected to run into this problem so quickly in the learning process. so be it
