I'm trying to access Windows XP's Application Data - but I'm having a slight issue, I am using the following code:Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData)This is working correctly in any other opperating system - but Windows XP - On Windows XP it directs them to: C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication Data - this is not the folder I want.I want to access: C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorLocal SettingsApplication DataI have tried to do:

i want that multiple users of my application will be able to change a database of my application.
I do now write the application files to a c:ProgramData subfolder.
The problem is that i cannot write to this folder.
I tried to set its permissions automatically but this did not work either.
In which folder should the database of my application be placed so that even non administrators can change it ?

I am building a windows application with different languages, when I change the language of a form visual basic will create a new form for me which i can change the settings for my new language and all was working fine, but recently i recognized that the images i am changing in the other language form is changing the images in the default language form, so i need to create two Resources Folders for images and manaully tells the application which folder to use.

I am using windows application. in that form i place picturebox, openfiledialogue, loadimage, saveimage buttons.using loadimage button to load image into picture box.using saveimage button to save image into one folder(save image into harddisk)at the time of save image first we crop the image like height:100 and width:100 and next it saved to folder.

Trying to publish a click once type app to a local directory and create a websetup with the published contents- so that i can give tat setup to install in two different servers. but as the publishing wizard takes a URL - separate setup is required for each server. I have set paths in my program to look for files in the "c:/Documents and Settings/User/ Local Settings/Application Data/".How do I add the "Documents and Settings/User/Local Settings/Application Data/" folder in the setup program? Everyone tells me to use the Local Settings path for my application data but I can't add this folder in the File System Editor. I have read many different help files concerning special folders but none of them explain how to add the local application data folder.

Under VB.Net 2005, I created a Setup Project which produced installation files for a windows application. I placed the mdb file in the User's Application Data Folder and remapped the DataDirectory to Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData at runtime. Unfortunately, sometimes the system just did create the mdb file at the Application Directory.
An example was that I installed the program in Windows 7 under a normal user account. I chose inside the installer that the program would be made available to everyone. After installation, the mdb file would be created automatically for the Administrator account but not for the normal user account. For XP, the whole thing worked fine. I am tempted to write a routine to check and create the mdb file if it is not present, but why does this happens and what other opinions do I have?

I am just learning Visual Basic and I am following along in a book called "Build a Program Now!".I have an application that is calling a database in SQL and there are instructions for copying the .mdf and .ldf files from the bin folder to the project folder that should allow any changes made in the running application to be reflected in the rows of the database.I have copied the files as per the instructions, but the changes are not showing in the database.

I'm wondering, is there a way to update databases of a windows application that is distributed on several computers all at the same time? is it done by using sql server? because I'm developing an examination system that will be distributed on several computers for students to take exams and I'm just wondering if an admin updates a questions database will the changes be applied to all other computers as well or should it be done manually? sorry if I sound stupid but I can't seem to understand this part of my work, I was thinking about switching to a web app since it seems easier, but again this data updating issue is giving me hard time. by the way I might link the application to an internal network, will this have anything to do with updating the databases?

An application data file, created by my own VB program, is visible to read and save from that application, but is not visible from Windows Explorer or Notepad. The icon, visible from my VB program, shows a lock. How can I remove the lock and see the program with Windows Explorer. (I need to copy to a another computer to use in a workshop next week.)

I have created an application with 3 terminal windows for capturing data from 3 serial ports and outputting the data to a file. It seems to work well with one serial port, but when I fire all 3 serial ports at once, the application hangs. Here is the portion of the code that I believe is the problem. Can I Post a Windows Application that uses Excel for live data calculations? Basically from the Windows app, a user makes a menu selection and which in turn opens an excel file in memory using it for calculations. These files are put together by different groups and formatted for the Windows app to build interfaces based on each file.I also accompany an .mdf file as well. Is all this possible for customers to access and run this with Windows Azure.
