I'm experimenting with xml literals in vb.net and there's something I don't get. Here's a small sample that illustrates the problem. I'm adding two PropertyGroup nodes to an empty Visual Studio project. The first one is added as xml literal, the second as new XElement:
Imports <xmlns="[URL]">
Module MyModule
Sub Main()
Dim vbproj = <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Project ToolsVersion="4.0" DefaultTargets="Build" xmlns="[URL]">
[Code] .....
This code writes the following output:
<Project ToolsVersion="4.0" DefaultTargets="Build" xmlns="[URL]">
<PropertyGroup xmlns="[URL]"></PropertyGroup>
<PropertyGroup />
</Project>
As you can see, the first PropertyGroup node contains a redundant xmlns declaration. Why is that, and can it be avoided?
I have an XElement that I need to create via dynamic xml literals/embedded expressions and I need it to inherit the default namespace. This doesn't appear possible though through everything I've tried. how to make this work?
For example
Imports <xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"> Sub CreateXAML() Dim obj = "Rectangle"
i want to select specific nodes of a xml document.Everything is ok until the document has an xml namespace. Then when i try to select the specific nodes no node is being returned.. This is because an xml namespace is declared. Is there a way to select those nodes and ignore the xml namespace ?
If a node belongs to a namespace, it's children by default belong to the same namespace. So there's no need to provide an xmlns attribute on each child, which is good. However. If I create two nodes like this:
My problem is quite simple and I am probably just not using the correct syntax, I am trying to add an attribute in my class so that when I serailaize the object it will include the schemalocation attribute in my generated XML.In C# I would be looking at doing something like this:
[XmlAttributeAttribute("schemaLocation", Namespace = "xsi")] Public Property schemaLocation() As String Get Return "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema MyNewsItem.xsd"
[code]....
However in VB Im unable to find the translation for [XmlAttributeAttribute("schemaLocation", Namespace = "xsi")]
I want to use project B property in project A. Hence, I added project B to my solution. How can i use the property of B? Can someone guide me? i'm new to vb.net..To my knowledge, we need to use namespace and create a new instance. Could someone guide me on how to use namespace for this purpose?
I got some set of base classes within one namespace and few sets of derived classes in other namespaces. Everything in one project.[code]...
OK, it can be done declaring .SubElements as Protected in BaseElement class. But in this case I cannot access this property from other classes in Base namespace that are not derived from it.
I tried adding Friend keyword, but it made this property visible when I'm instantiating derived classes too.
So... any way to hide some properties when using derived classes while being able to use them using base class?
What I want is a property that like Font property, it has "Name", "Size", "Unit", "Bold" and the other property in it. I tried the solution in the post I tried the solution like this:
<TypeConverter(GetType(ExpandableObjectConverter))> _ Class TestingClass 'Some property here
I have a form with a series of basic objects,, a list box a few buttons, a few text boxes and a few labels..
Anchor property works just fine on all of them except one text box and one label. The property is clearly SET on both objects and I can't, for the love of me, figure out what is making these two act "disobediently".
WinForms. VB.NET VS 2010 Professional. So I am building a form that has 3 radio buttons on one side of it.Then on the left side I have 2 group boxes named Group1 and Group2 for this question that I have placed in the designer so that the one covers the other one and have set both of the groupboxes visible property to false.. When a user click on the second radio box group1.visible changes to true and group2.Visible changes to false.. When a user clicks on the third radio group1.visible changes to false and group2.visible changes to true. If the user clicks the first radio button both group1 and group2 visible changes to false.Only one of the group boxes shows.If I open the designer and ONLY change which one is on the bottom then it will show and not the other.[code]
this questions has be answered partially, but I can't find any full tutorial for this problem.I created my own user control (an advanced list with columns). Each column has different attributes like width, colour and text.I want to able to add this user control onto a form and select/edit the different attributes of each column. Hence, for each column in my user control (these columns are created beforehand, no columns can be added or removed from it) there should be a property in the property-menu. Each of these column-properties should be expanded (like the normal size-property in most default vb-controls that can be expanded with the little plus to show the width and height individually.What i mean by this, is: In the property-menu there should be attributes like Column1, Column2, Column3. Each of these attributes should be expanded to show the attributes like width or colour.
Currently I have different properties for different values of the same column, like Column1Wodth, Column1Colour, etc, but I want to group this under one value Column1.I think this is quite an easy solution, but forgive me, I spent more than 4 hours on google, but couldn't find a proper solution.
I'm all new to this treeview business. I have a fixed treeview, very simple and basic. Only two levels, parent and child nodes. I just need two things out of this treeview.
1) If parent is checked, check all child nodes.
2) If just one child node is unchecked, uncheck parent node.
That's it! I've been looking for this for 30 mins and I cant find it. Maybe because my vb.net is old, it doesnt seem to be the same as others =/ I'm using vb.net 2003.
Is the following possible in one XPath expression (see sample below) Select all (span tags of class msg) AND all ((img tags that have a non-empty alt attribute) AND (are NOT located inside a span tag of class msg))
I need to read an xml document from a database record into an XDocument object in order for it to be deserialized. So that the deserialization will work, I need to apply a specific namespace to each of the level 1 elements. So XML looks a bit like this:
[Code]...
How do I prevent the blank/empty namespace being added to each child element of the element to which the required namespace has been applied?
This class is located in the namespace Acme.Infrastructure.Interface.A class with the same name EventArgs exists in the System namespace.In another project in my solution I have a class Acme.BusinessModules.MyModule.MyClass.When attempting to use the EventArgs class I have to fully qualify the class name or the compiler thinks I am using the System.EventArgs class.My understanding of namespace resolution was that the compiler would first look for the class in the current namespace, and then its parents. It seems that the compiler checks in System before it checks in sibling namespaces. Is it correct that System is checked before the sibling? Or is this behaviour caused by other issues (Imports order?)?
I'm trying to match up a specific group name and see if it exists for the currently logged in user using Active Directory roles. If the Group Name exists for the Current User, I want that group name to be displayed in a drop down list. Example: If current user is in BIG Group, display BIG in drop down list.Problem: All I am getting is SIDs and I'm not able to get anything to match up to the group name and nothing will show up in the drop down list.I also get the following Error:Error: Object variable or WIth block variable not set.How do I fix this?? here is the code I am using:
Private Sub GetMarketingCompanies() ' code to populate marketing company drop down list based on the current logged in users active directory group that
I'm running out of walls to bang my head against. Okay new windows form with a textbox, button and TreeView Populate the TreeView.nodes with the default nodes via properties

I want to click button1 and have the name of the childnode? Node3? placed in the textbox. Not via selection, I can do that. But via index or item number. The code I have is as follows
I have a class called Profile that has some simple properties and then it can have a collection of ProfileItem that again has some simple properties and then it can have a collection of ProfileItem (RECURSION). Now I am trying to generated a very simple save function using XML Literals that come with VB.NET (3.5).
is there a way to enable IntelliSense for XML literals in VB9 (VS 2008)?The ideal source of IntelliSense is an XSD document, but I can use anything else format to do it.
If it's possible, it would be a lifesaver since I can't use XElement and XAttribute to add the nodes manually. We have multiple templates and they frequently change (edit on the fly).
If this is not doable, can you think of another way so that I can use templates for the XML?
I am using XML Literals and Linq to XML to read/write data to an external system.[code]The client now wants to put the url in a parameter table so the table can change to point to a test server or a real server. I assume that I cannot put a variable in my Imports statement.So how to I access the correct URL from a variable?url...
