Select File/folder In Namespace Extension In Windows Explorer?

Jun 9, 2012

I am having a namespace extension implemented, which is visible in "MY Computer". I want to write automated test cases to browse through the same. I am able to open the explorer window till the namespace extension. as -
Process.Start("explorer.exe", "shell:::{CLSID of my namespace }")

next I want to search for a particular folder name inside the window opened. For example if i give input as "temp", then my mouse should move to "temp" folder in the namespace explorer window. then I double click on the mouse's current position and enter that folder. next i give input as "doc1.doc", then my mouse should be able to locate & move to "doc1.doc" file. Also getDirectory or GetFile etc APIs won't work because I don't have a standard drive associated with my namespace & don't have a relative path either.

Creating A File Explorer Similar To Windows Explorer?

Aug 1, 2010

I want to make a program that is similar to Windows Explorer. It will have a button that when you click it it opens a FolderBrowserDialog and it will have an area that displays the contents of the selected folder. I want to have a label that displays the current folder path (i.e. 'USERDocuments...') and I also would like a feature to search all files on the computer.Also, is it possible that when I click on a file in the contents of the selected folder it displays its information (i.e. Name, Size, etc.)? And can I also make it so that if you double click on another folder in the current folder's display it opens that folder? And can I have a button to go up one directory?

Windows Service Won't Select From Access Mdb File?

Jan 5, 2012

I'm trying to do a simple select query from a MS access database from my service. Has anyone managed to do this in the past using their Jet eninge?

I had originally debugged and tested the code in a windows form and it worked fine. Once I moved the code into a windows service and installed it, it bombs out and doesn't generate any errors.

Thing is, I just found a .mdb file on the net so not entirely sure of the database version. I'm running office 2007 and read that if you used the .accdb version on a machine that didn't have access 2007 installed (which is going to be 99% likely), you had to install some drivers etc. in order for it to work. That is not an option unfortunately which is why I went with the old .mdb that could use Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 without any drivers to be installed.

Do I need to import something into this project to get this to work? I've attached the code below. I've added a comment after the problematic line.

Dim con As New OleDb.OleDbConnection
Dim dbProvider As String
Dim dbSource As String

Windows File Explorer Control?

Dec 29, 2009

I have searched for the past 2 hours to see if there is a control available that will mimic windows explorer. I realise it can be created using TreeView and ListView controls, but this is an incredible amount of work for something that I would have thought would already be available. VB 6 had the DirListBox and DriveListBox which would have made this easier but without the right click context menu

If I had to create this myself, how would I populate the right click context menu to mirror the options available by explorer?

If you look at CDBurnerXP or MagicISO, they have what I am trying to achieve, with the layout and a right click menu containing the same options available in explorer.

ComboBox Event To Select From Access Database

Jun 5, 2011

I am using VB 2008 Express to connect to an Access 2007 database. I have a combo box called SelectYearMonth that is populated by the database. When I used the Access report VBA, I used the AfterUpdate() event to calculate a sum. I need to know how to do the same operation in VB 2008 Express using the SelectedIndexChanged event of the combo box.

When I made a report in Access using VBA I coded my calculation as:
Me.ExactReprintTextbox = DSum("Pages", "HBELP_FINAL_Q", "YEARMONTH = " & [SelectYearMonth] & " AND JOBTYPE = 'E'")
While this works great with Access VBA, this syntax does not work in VB 2008 Express. How do I code this in VB 2008 Express?

I need to calculate the sum of all "Pages" of a particular "JOBTYPE" in the Access database for the YEARMONTH selected in the combobox. I have a query in Access called "JobTypeExact_Query" that contains all the pages of that particular JOBTYPE that I need. What I need to do is limit the calculation results to the YEARMONTH selected in the combobox.

Combo Box Event To Select Certain Data From An Access Database?

Nov 30, 2010

I am using VB 2008 Express to connect to an Access 2007 database. I have a combo box that is populated by the database. When I used the Access report VBA, I used the AfterUpdate() event to calculate a sum and place the results in a text box. I need to know how to do the same operation in VB 2008 Express using the SelectedIndexChanged event of the combo box.

The combo box is called "cboYearMonth" and is populated by my database, this is working correctly.

The text box that I want the calculated results to appear in is called "ExactPagesTextbox"

I have a query in Access called "JobTypeExact_Query" that contains all the pages that I need. What I need to do is calculate the total number of "Pages" limited to the YEARMONTH selected in the combo box. YEARMONTH is a value in every record in this query.

Loading RTF File By Double Click In Windows Explorer

May 8, 2010

My Program is selected as the default program in the registry for any RTF file that is double-clicked. I want my program to load the RTF file when I double-click it in windows explorer, however, I also have my program set up so that it always opens the last file I had open, which is stored in an INI file. I do not know how to detect that a file have been double-clicked in Windows Explorer within my program as it loads (FormMain_Load), and then load that file instead of the last file open.

Windows Service Interactions - How To Access Event Log

Feb 6, 2011

I'm new to write windows services and I was searching around collecting necessery info and howtos. What I'm missing is the interaction between my webapp and the service. The servicecontroller sending messages to the service and gives me the main status of the service. Is there a way to get custom messages, set custom properties and get properties? If there are not, should I use a file for both the service and the web app where both can read and write on, like a settings file in xml or are there better methods? Is there a way to get the messages in the corresponding eventlog, how do I access them?

Global Control Event Handler?

Apr 21, 2009

I have a piece of code that i want many ListViews to run throughout the app at ItemUpdated. I'm sure the same can apply to many other control-events.How can I hook up a certain listviews ItemUpdated event to a sub in a class module?

here's my class module Public Class ControlParts

Public Shared Sub LSVItemUpdated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As ListViewUpdatedEventArgs)
Dim lsv As ListView = CType(sender, ListView)
lsv.EditIndex = -1
End Sub
End Class

Now if i add OnItemUpdated="LSVItemUpdated" to my ListView's declaration I get an error that 'LSVItemUpdated' is not a member of 'ASP.admin_order_aspx'. Well, I don't want this on the page. I wan't this to be globaly accessible. I could in the code behind call the LSVItemUpdated, but that will beat the whole point off.
