Loading RTF File By Double Click In Windows Explorer

My Program is selected as the default program in the registry for any RTF file that is double-clicked. I want my program to load the RTF file when I double-click it in windows explorer, however, I also have my program set up so that it always opens the last file I had open, which is stored in an INI file. I do not know how to detect that a file have been double-clicked in Windows Explorer within my program as it loads (FormMain_Load), and then load that file instead of the last file open.

In Windows Explorer, when you open a ZIP file and double-click a file, say a JPEG file (.jpg), Windows extracts the JPEG file to a temporary folder, and passes the temporary file name to the associated program as the one and only argument, such as "C:UsersjpriceAppDataLocalTempTemp1_<>.zip<>.jpg"
I noticed that some applications, like the Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 7 know what ZIP file the temporary file came from. You can click next and previous and get the next/previous files from the ZIP file (as you do, they are also extracted to temporary files). I've googled and prowled through system.io.packaging, but I can't figure out how to get the path of the original ZIP file (the file name is part of the temporary file path). It's not done with the shell-->open command, Windows Photo Viewer only gets the temporary file name as far as I can tell.
The Photo Viewer command line is

undll32.exe "%ProgramFiles%Windows Photo ViewerPhotoViewer.dll", ImageView_Fullscreen %1. I did use ProcessMon to watch Photo Viewer and saw it read the .zip file (probably using zipfldr.dll) but could not discover how it knew where the original zip file was.

I have a situation where I am handling both single & double mouse click events on a form. In both cases something has to be loaded, however when a double click occurs, I do not wish to execute the code attached to the single click event.Is there a way to intercept the mouse click's and check if double or single and then execute the right event appropriately?

I want to make a program that is similar to Windows Explorer. It will have a button that when you click it it opens a FolderBrowserDialog and it will have an area that displays the contents of the selected folder. I want to have a label that displays the current folder path (i.e. 'USERDocuments...') and I also would like a feature to search all files on the computer.Also, is it possible that when I click on a file in the contents of the selected folder it displays its information (i.e. Name, Size, etc.)? And can I also make it so that if you double click on another folder in the current folder's display it opens that folder? And can I have a button to go up one directory?

I did some research and i found that i will need to edit the registry.So if i make a folder called "Get Path" in the ContextMenuHandlers folder.When i click on the file in windows explorer or desktop etc i will have the option called "Get Path".Now for the value key what do i put inside?What i want is when the user right - clicks on the file my program starts up and displays the path of that file on a msgbox or listbox. I was thinking of letting the Windows Installer (.msi) doing this for me.

i want to put a menu item for my application to the right click menu of windows explorer.I do not want to do it programmatically but i want to do it with the .NET installer.Until now i have found that i have to insert into the registry the following keys:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/*/shell/MyApplication/command
and i have to put there a new value of
"[TARGETDIR]MyApplication.exe" "-file=%1"
The problem is that i want to be able to select multiple files and then call my application with parameter all of these files.Now when i right click with many selected files my application is run for each file sepparately.I want to run my application only once and with an input parameter of all the files that are selected.Also until now i cannot add a value to the (Default) key. It only adds a new value to the registry...Also i want to be able to do the same thing with folders...

With VB.net, I'm coding a simple application to get more used to the new .Net format.
I'd like to save all the information to a 'new' database file. how to create a database on the fly, once that is done i'll be able to connect to it no problem, but actually creating the file is proving difficult to work/find out.
Also, with vb.net and the newly created custom file, how can it be made to automatically open that information with the program?
Is there a method in installation to associate the file type with the new program? How can i check when the program loads if a database file has been 'double-clicked' (rather than just running from the .exe of the program) and proceed to load the data?
EDIT1 - Extra InfoThe windows application has many different fields and content etc, then i need to save that to a file that could later be loaded by 'double clicking'. I assumed the easiest way would be to create a mini-database for each unique file

Well im making a program that will Add the Safe File Name of the File opened in the Open File Dialog to the first column of the listview and the File name and path to the second. I am creating a web page which converts binary data into a temporary file.The *.tmp file then gets converted to a *.tiff file.This all works fine.
The next step I would like to take, is for the web page to programatically go to the local *.tiff file, and simulate a double click in Windows Explorer.
This should then either Open the file, or ask what program should be used (as per all non recognized file types in windows).

I have searched for the past 2 hours to see if there is a control available that will mimic windows explorer. I realise it can be created using TreeView and ListView controls, but this is an incredible amount of work for something that I would have thought would already be available. VB 6 had the DirListBox and DriveListBox which would have made this easier but without the right click context menu
If I had to create this myself, how would I populate the right click context menu to mirror the options available by explorer?
If you look at CDBurnerXP or MagicISO, they have what I am trying to achieve, with the layout and a right click menu containing the same options available in explorer.

I'm coming to end of a program I've been writing for quite some time now. In this program, I use text files to store/retrieve all the data I need for the program. I've save each file with text characters, with a file extension of .fad.
The problem is, how do I make it so when someone double clicks on one of my .fad files, it launches my program and opens that file?
how can I get my own icon to appear on my .fad files?

I have my registry set up so it will call my application when a certain filetype/file extension is double clicked, however, as of now I can only get my program to open up those files if it was already closed. I am currently using the [URL] to get the passed files.

An application data file, created by my own VB program, is visible to read and save from that application, but is not visible from Windows Explorer or Notepad. I am newbie to vB .NET.I am developing an application for PDF files merge and split using vb .net (Visual studio 2008). Already i have included options for drag and drop and browse button to input the pdf files. Is there a way we can access global file select event and keyboard events to easy inputting the pdf files or any other files types??Example:if i use left mouse click along with control button the progrm will include the pdf file in the application form by getting the file path and file type information from windows explorer.
