View 8 RepliesI'm deploying a VB.Net app (VS 2010 Pro) that requiers the user click a command button to open IE to a financial WEB site and download informaion from the site. The app works fine in every detail when installed on the development computer. But, on the target computer when the command button is clicked an unhandled exception occurs which says: System.IO. FileNotFoundException:File Not found.My code behind the button is Shell("C:Program Files (x86)Internet Exploreriexplore.exe www,fidelity.com",AppWinStyle.NormalFocus)
This works fine on the development computer. Do I need a way to code this as a relative path? If so,can you tell me how this is done?Throughout the app I have written relative paths to needed files using paths like (Open(Environment. GEtFolderPath (Environment. SpecialFoldder.Desktop) + "File Name). They all work fine when deployed.

View 4 RepliesI am trying to activate Rosetta Stone on a button click (button4). It opens but gives me an error. 2123 is the error code. I guess this may require knowledge of Rosetta Stone more than VB but I have found no luck searching google. Is there alternative code to what I'm trying to do?

I have an asp.net application, where the user would click a button and launch another page (within the same application). The issue I am facing is that the original page and the newly launched page should both be launched. I tried response.redirect, but that tends to unload the original page.

Currenty I need when I click one Search button.And after this click on All files and foldes. In Lookin combo bydefault set my Root Folder which is I set in windows explorer. I have a shell extension made in .NET that creates folders (think of it as a context menu New -> New Folder option clone) and uses a InputBox to input the name of the folder from the user. Instead I want to send the rename command on the folder to the already open Windows Explorer window. It should be just like how Explorer lets us name a new folder:
On searching, I found this : Windows Explorer Shell Extension: create file and enter "rename" mode. It says to use the IShellView::SelectItem function with the SVSI_EDIT flag. How do I do that with .NET?

View 7 RepliesThe application I'm developing does some file management chores, such as renaming and deletion of files. I have noticed that often after a file is deleted via code, it is still shown in Windows Explorer although it doesn't exist anymore. A refresh (F5) solves this, however I wouldn't want end users to have to press F5 every couple of minutes when using the application.
Can a refresh of all open Windows Explorer windows be requested via code? Moreover, can the refresh be requested only for windows displaying a particular location? I've thought of getting all open windows, filtering them and then sending the F5 keystroke, however it sounds a bit like overkill. Any easier way to do it?
I am trying to write a script to set the focus to the folder view in Windows Explorer. Is there some sort of way I can find the folder view pane and set focus to it? A bit like finding a child window and setting focus to it using the Windows API functions.

Now I realise that you can't use the above functions to find parts of Windows but it just gives you the idea. If I could do it with API functions that would be fine otherwise I am a little bit limited because I am using a Visual Basic scripting type engine which I won't bore you with details of.

For example if i give input as "temp", then my mouse should move to "temp" folder in the namespace explorer window. then I double click on the mouse's current position and enter that folder. next i give input as "doc1.doc", then my mouse should be able to locate & move to "doc1.doc" file. Also getDirectory or GetFile etc APIs won't work because I don't have a standard drive associated with my namespace & don't have a relative path either.

My Program is selected as the default program in the registry for any RTF file that is double-clicked. I want my program to load the RTF file when I double-click it in windows explorer, however, I also have my program set up so that it always opens the last file I had open, which is stored in an INI file. I do not know how to detect that a file have been double-clicked in Windows Explorer within my program as it loads (FormMain_Load), and then load that file instead of the last file open.
View 4 RepliesI did some research and i found that i will need to edit the registry.So if i make a folder called "Get Path" in the ContextMenuHandlers folder.When i click on the file in windows explorer or desktop etc i will have the option called "Get Path".Now for the value key what do i put inside?What i want is when the user right - clicks on the file my program starts up and displays the path of that file on a msgbox or listbox. I was thinking of letting the Windows Installer (.msi) doing this for me.

The problem is that i want to be able to select multiple files and then call my application with parameter all of these files.Now when i right click with many selected files my application is run for each file sepparately.I want to run my application only once and with an input parameter of all the files that are selected.Also until now i cannot add a value to the (Default) key. It only adds a new value to the registry...Also i want to be able to do the same thing with folders...

I want to run a exe . using Process.Start(My.Settings.dirt3fold & "dirt3.exe") it runs but than displays a error (not my program,the actually exe) .I believe this is because it will only run if its run through windows explorer . is there a way to get around this ,maybe use a shortcut or something .
View 2 RepliesI have a vb.net application that uses Flash movies (AxShockwaveFlashObjects.AxShockwaveFlash). I have buttons in the flash movie. When they first start using the application, they can single click on the buttons in the flash movie and button responds accordingly. But after a while (and I haven't been able to pin-point an exact thing that changes it or my issue would be solved), the user has to double-click on the button in the flash movie for them to work.
View 2 RepliesI have a button on my form where I'm showing a ContextMenu when the user left clicks on it, I'm actually using MouseUp right now to show it.What I would like to have happen is the user click on the button, the button stays pressed while the ContextMenu shows, it returns to normal when the ContextMenu closes (Either a menu item was selected, the user hits the escape key or they click/tab to somewhere else). Also I'd like to position the ContextMenu in the lower left corner if the menu opens down or the top left corner if it opens up. So the left edge of the ContextMenu is flush with the left edge of the button.Moreso the button staying pressed until the ContextMenu is closed.
Edit: I'm also ok with this being it's own control inheriting the FW's Button that used the assigned ContextMenu as well.
Assuming I have a folder structure like:

This works fine, unless I have Windows Explorer open and I'm looking at the 'MySubFolder' directory. Then I get an IOException The directory is not empty. - clicking OK dismisses this and then the folder structure is not deleted. Any thoughts on how I can get this to perform correctly (i.e. delete), even when running this code while having the folder struture open in Windows Explorer?
I believe there wont be any diff if user clicks the button on the form and the click event is fired OR if we call the button click event / function in the code. Because in one my project, this does make diff. If I click the button on the form, the App works great but same button if I click it thru the form code, the whole process crashes. This happens in Vista / VB.net.
