Access The Properties Of All Controls Stored Into Array Of Object Using LINQ?
Jun 3, 2011
I's there a way that I can access the properties of all controls stored into my array of object using LINQ.
Public Sub DisAble(Byval ParamArray ctrlCollection() As Object)End Sub That is my sub routine where im trying to reset all controls that will stored into that object of array. But im trying to attain that using LINQ so I wont use any loops to access all of it.
The object browser in visual studio contains many controls and properties ....so is it possible to remember in mind all these controls. Whenever i am programming in vb 2008 and for reference i look at the examples on internet i always find some new controls, properties etc which makes me confuse. So i was wondering If by any means there is a way to remember all these controls
Is it possible using Linq to select the FirstName and LastName out of all the Bloops in the collection of Bloops and return a collection of Razzies? Or am i limited to a For-Loop to do my work?
To clear up any confusion, either VB or C# will do. Also this will probably lead to me asking the question of (What about using a "Where" clause).
I have a stored procedure in DBML and I try to pass the result to "sqlQryArray" as an array(1 dimensional array). But the bottom code causes error like below message. What else should be done?
Error 1 Value of type '1-dimensional array of aaaDatabase.stp_GetSomethingResult' cannot be converted to '1-dimensional array of String' because 'aaaDatabase.stp_GetSomethingResult' is not derived from 'String'.
The return result from stored procedure is a just list of first names of students(only one column)
Dim sqlQry = aaaLINQ.stp_GetSomething(bbb,ccc,ddd) Dim sqlQryArray As String() = sqlQry.ToArray()
I was create Access database with Access 2003. I create VB project with Visual Studio 2005 Standard With connection wizzard I create coonect with this Access database, select all tablesI see this database inside Data sources and inside Server explorer Test connection is OK When I drag and drop table from Data sources, Wizzard don't create DataGridView, DataSourceBinding etc .. and I see popup window with mesage: Object reference not set to an instance of an object and then "game over"
I am trying to access the controls' properties on another form without having to modify the code of the other projec (the one containing the controls that I want to access) because it is already compiled as a DLL. In this DLL that I am trying to access, the functions/sub-procedures are all declared as private. Would there be any way of accessing the controls' properties without having to modify the DLL? Basically what I am trying to do is create a sort of console application wrapper for the DLL that would create a new instance of the DLL's form and then make certain checkboxes checked and click certain buttons. Basically, I am trying to automate the form as it currently exists.
I'm learning LINQ and VB and just spent an hour trying to access the fields of an anonymous type defined in a linq query. The key (I learned) is to convert the query to a list before you try to iterate through it with a for loop. How to access property of anonymous type in C#?
This does not work: edit (this compiles, but intellisense does not recognize the type)[code]...
I am new to Vb I am trying to assign to each one of the objects in an array a set of properties and I get "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim pointer As Integer = 0 depart(pointer).id = "text" depart(pointer).name = "text" 'here I get the error [Code] .....
I have a main form, a separate plugin interface dll and another separate dll. Now this is my problem:I'd like to access the properties of the controls of the main form for manipulation in the other dll.
Example: MainForm Plugins.dll Data.dll
Main form have label control I define properties in the interface Plugins.dll from Data.dll I load Plugins to read the label control from the mainform. The question is how can I do that?
After taking a few years off from programming, I decided to start learning vb.net. I have created a user control that contains a picture box. I added some custom properties to the picture box that will hold general string data from a database.
My problem is that the user control is programatically created during run time, and during this time a DoubleClick event handler is added for the picture box that is within the user control.
I need to be able to set the custom properties for the picture box during the creation of the user control, so that when the control (picture box) is double clicked I can read these values but am unsure on how to access them.
The picture box is the entire size of the user control, or I would just add the custom properties right to the user control and add the DoubleClick event handler to that. However, double clicking needs to be done on the picture box since it takes up the entire user control, unless anyone has an idea to trigger the DoubleClick event of the user control when the picture box is double clicked.
I would like to assign the name of the textbox to the variable txtbxName. I know it's within eventSender as I've seen it when drilling down but how do i get it out??
I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class
Code example:
Public Class derivedObj Inherits baseObj Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......
Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.
Code example:
' property names are in the string array fieldNames
'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj
'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....
Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?
How can I add controls to a form in code and set the properties of the controls using the With statement? Also I would like to know how to add a container control and then add a control to that container.
I want to build a MVC helper function for which I pass a Entity Framework object and have it build a select. Generally speaking I tried something like this:
Public Function RenderSelect(ByVal helper As HtmlHelper, ByVal sSelectName As String, ByVal aItmes As Array, Optional ByVal sTitleKeyName As String = "name", Optional ByVal sValueKeyName As String = "id") As String ' open select
[Code].....
However, it isn't working. It would be great to have a way to do this and pass the current entity object.
I've come up with the following and it's partly working.
Public serial1, serial2, serial3, serial4, serial5 As SerialPort Public serialports() As Object = New Object() {serial1, serial2, serial3, serial4, serial5} dComPort = "COM4"[code]....
The above code works fine! But im having trouble trying to now retreive whats stored in the array. In the above example, an entry will be stored in serialports(4), all other array elements will be blank. If I do this it works.
MsgBox(serialports(4).PortName) ' this retuns the value COM4
But I'd like to loop though all array elements and print out ALL the PortNames, The below code doesnt work, I get an error Object variable or With block variable not set.
For i = 0 To serialports.Length - 1 MsgBox(serialports(i).portname) Next
I am trying to use stored procedures with LINQ to SQL to perform insert, update, and delete operations. My update and delete procedures implement optimistic concurrency by checking the original values retrieved from the database with the current values in the database. A row count is returned to indicate if the row was updated. When I execute SubmitChanges on the data context to update the database, everything works fine except that the generated code doesn't check for concurrency. (I configured the insert, update, and delete operations to use the data context methods created from the stored procedures using the O/R Designer, and I assigned the original object properties to the method arguments.) I can customize the generated code so it works properly, but I know that I shouldn't do that because I'll lose the changes if the code is regenerated. I also know that I can add a partial class to extend the data context, but I don't know how to implement the methods correctly. All I really need to do is to have the methods return the row count, but, of course, that's not an acceptable method overload. I know that I can also call the methods directly rather than calling SubmitChanges, but it seems like this is intended to work with SubmitChanges.
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[TestProcedure] AS BEGIN SELECT TOP 1 CampaignID FROM Campaigns SELECT TOP 1 ServiceID FROM Services ORDER BY ServiceID desc END
In my .NET Project, I have a LINQ to SQL file (.dbml) and I have drag-and-dropped this procedure to create a new class TestProcedureResult:
Partial Public Class TestProcedureResult Private _CampaignID As Integer Public Sub New()
[Code]....
So it is not returning ServiceID. How can I retreive ServiceID using LINQ to SQL? I know we can customize stored procedure calls, but how can I customize in this particular scenario?
I am getting following error whenever I want to use IIf function inside entity framework query.
LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object IIf(Boolean, System.Object, System.Object)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression.
