Then, I use AdventureWorks Person.Contact to set up a query by searching peter and mary ,but how to add it on form 1 ? and I type part of their names and by the way how to link a "VB label of text" or two "variables" to the two query parameter? when the competer need me to put the parameter from "Me.form 1.label 1", I type "mar" and "pete". Now here is my problem! I want to have a form with a datagridview that displays all of the values I am querying. This shouldn't be a problem I guess. However, I have no idea how I can integrate two textboxes that can be used to enter the selection criteria (WHERE I_L.lfsnr LIKE '%1253') AND (l.sped_journal = '11-08')[/SIZE]. I have googled and read many threads so far but didn't stumble upon anything that would suit my needs and answer my question. Maybe it's just too elementary!? By the way, it is very important that the input of textbox1 ((WHERE I_L.lfsnr LIKE '%1253')) is linked to 3 positions in my SQL query to define the search criteria!
The worst thing is that I don't want to have a bindingnav displayed! I do not need any delete, update or add functions just the select option, however!

I am developing an application that based on when a user has last entered a payroll, my program tells them the next available Sunday that is available to them based on
1. The date that the last time payroll was entered
2. If payroll ran = "yes" or "no"
I have a sql query that returns the next Sunday back to me based on this criteria, but when I put it into my application, it returns 1/1/0001 to me.

how to pass a parameter to a predefined parameter in a dataset. I've found everywhere a solution if you build the sqldata adapter and the dataset in the code. Then you can pass the parameter like: da.SelectCommand.Parameters.Add("@param1", SqlDbType.Char).Value = param1_variable (as example)
But if you have builded a dataset (with table adapters), and then in the form app you want just to pass the param1 to a DataGridView1 (as example) which is using the table adapter, I did not find how to do this.

I have a form with a tab control, containing a small number of tab pages. I'm writing a sub procedure to clear the controls within a groupbox for the selected tab. A selected tab will only ever contain ONE groupbox and within a groupbox will be command buttons, labels, text boxes and possibly a combobox. The first block of code below firstly finds the groupbox within the selected tab. The next part loops around all control type and if of type texbox clears the text.
Now hears the head scratcher/confusion it error's with :-

In Access, when you build a new query, you can add tables to the view, which is then represented by individual windows that are somehow embedded/constrained to the upper portion of the query designer. I know then typically, windows are free floating anywhere on the screen, but somehow they manage to keep it confined to a certain container area. It also appears that the windows never get a real "focus" as the title bar is always a faded shade of blue, yet, you can still click on them and move them around.

I've tried a couple of approaches that I found online for writing a connection string and accessing the db, but no luck yet.
All I'm trying to do is code a button to query the db and then reset the text property of a label/textbox to display the results based upon another label/textbox value.
The pseudo-code I am imagining is something like this:

I am connecting to an Access database and using a parameter query with the LIKE operator to return all rows that match query. The string to search for is taken from a Textbox
