View 2 RepliesI have a default form and a button. On click of that button I want to export a particular crystal report(without actually displaying it) to pdf format and store it in a folder named as temp. Is it possible?
View 10 Repliesi have a question concering Reports. I am using Visual Studio 2008. As it currently stands when you try to export a report you have two options, either export to pdf or as an excel file (97-2003). Is it possible to also include an option for saving the file in Excel 2007 format as well?
View 1 RepliesI developed a few rdlc files that I am using in my asp.net/vb.net project. the reports load great, but when I click 'export' in the toolbar, its showing up behind the dataI figure I could play around with Z indexes, but don't see any method explicitly for the toolbar
<asp:ReportViewer ID="ReportViewer1" runat="server" Font-Names="Verdana"
Font-Size="8pt" InteractiveDeviceInfos="(Collection)"
WaitMessageFont-Names="Verdana" WaitMessageFont-Size="14pt" Width="100%"

How can I disable the Excel export option when I generate a report, via the ReportViewer, in my winforms application? In particular, I want to hide the toolbar button that refers to Excel output/export task, and not .the one that handles to the pdf export option.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to export data from a sql query into a xml document. I need to automate this process because I have over 40 of these type queries that I have to post shortly after midnight each day. I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a few days now.

I am in the process of fixing my code to be in line with Option Strict On, but the code below is still throwing an error and I don't know why. What do you think?

I have a query being created using oledb from access and need to get the information to an already existing excel spread sheet. I am using VS 2010 with vb.net, access and excel are 2010. I have been running in circles for the last two days and cannot figure out how to get the data from a datareader into excel. This is a vb.net console app, so no web tables or grids can be used.
Dim conn As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:PureshowPureshow.mdb;")

I am almost to the point of just outputting to a CSV and telling the user to import into excel each time. I can export to excel if I put it in a webform, but I cannot figure out how to do using a console app.
I wont to export query results from Access to Excel. From my Access app i execute this function
Public Sub qExcel(pQuery As String)
DoCmd.Hourglass True
Dim dbs As ADODB.Connection[code]......
Everything is OK when I run this function for the first time. But when I try to run it the second time I get method range of object _global failed error. Also I've noticed that first execution creates excel process that is in my process list even after I close excel. Second execution creates second process and after error when I close excel both processes are gone.Third execution creates no error fourth creates errors .... and so on

The XLSNombre is a variable with the name of the excel file that has been set before. The connection I have in .NET is to SQL server (but is the same). How can I use this code (or..how can I make this code work for .NET) or what is the equivalent of this for .NET? I found some solutions but with inserts of single rows or I have to set the title of the columns, I dont find any "simple" solution to do an "insert into" (like the code I use in VB6).
Is there a proper code to export oracle query result to csv file? I want to save more than 3 million of records
View 1 RepliesI'm running into a bit of a roadblock here. I have tried to search the web/forums for answer for last several hours to no avail and I'm not the expert VB Programmer. However, I was able to write an app to do the following:
1) read Outlook emails for particular emails containing xml link in which I was able to download the file and save to my hard drive.
2) opened the Excel spreadsheet to run the macro which import those XMLs into existing XLS spreadsheets to refresh the data.
3) Those XLS spreadsheets are linked in my MS Access in which I join all four XLS sheets to create one report via Query which I have created in the past prior to this app development.
I have manually done a File Export of this query via ALT+F then E and what I'd like to do is to either take control of menu commands OR alternate method of performing a File Export to a new Excel spreadsheet (version 2003).I've seen two different methods, one via DoCmd OutputtoFile and another is TransferSpreadsheet. Here's my Access coding I have in my VB 2010:
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop
Public Class OutlookOfflineEmailExtractor
Dim wsAccessApp As Access.Application

I have a DataGridView that is bound to a list of objects called "BaseChange". The BaseChange objects are made up of 4 properties...
ChangeType
ChangeStatus
ChangeDescription
LastChangeDate
The datagridview has columns for all 4 values as well as a 5th (a checkbox column called "colIsSelected"). There is no problem binding the list to the grid and displaying the items. The problem is that the query that gets the selected items in the grid is giving me an implicit cast error when option strict is enabled.
This is the query...
Dim _changes As List(Of BaseChange)
_changes = (From _row As DataGridViewRow In dgvChanges.Rows() _
Where Convert.ToBoolean(_row.Cells(NAME_COLUMN_IS_SELECTED).Value) = True _
Select DirectCast(_row.DataBoundItem, BaseChange)).ToList()
...and it produces the correct results with option strict off. The implicit cast squiggle is on the "row As DataGridViewRow" code, and the full message is "Implicit conversion from 'Object' to 'System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewRow'*".
If I exclude the "As DataGridViewRow" from the query, I get a late binding error on the _row.Cells and _row.DataBoundItem and this also fails option strict.I need this to work with Option Strict enabled, and in VB.
I am developing an application using VS 2008/MySql and I am trying to export the crystal report on runtime using my own code. I get an error saying:

I really like the coding speed that vb.net provides, but I don't like the possibility to forget to declare variable types, return types of functions, etc. and that is why in each class I use[code]..
Is there a way to define those two options on the project/solution level?
the combo box style 1 has both the drop down option but also a manual entry option. I need to know how to code it so that when you manually enter data, it takes that data and places it in a text message "The shipping charges for "data" is $15" displaying in a text box. Shouldn't be hard but have developed a mind block.
View 4 Replieswhat does these two code means in vb.net: Option Explicit on Option strict on i think option explicit means the compiler is not going to do any kind of conversion and i need to do all of them by the code;also it becomes case sensitive i.e;

I have been able to export data from a query to the xlsx file..howerver those fields which are currency in my sql server 2005 table are currency are showing up in the spreadsheet as text. The column mappings are correct when I look at it in connection manager.
Also Is there also a way to create a new worksheet each time the export is run or does the file have to be already named?
I want my console application to be able to do one function I have when you click one option on the windows context menu, and another function when you click another option.

1. I have read that keeping Option strict on and Option infer off is good practice and will insure your code is tight and properly written. I would like input regarding this, pro's and con's from those who are in the know.
2. Having said that, I have set Option strict on and Option infer off in an existing program I wrote (that was working perfectly mind you) with them off and on respectively. I went through and cleaned up all the errors on the 'need AS' and casting of variables, but one is leaving me a bit put out.[code]
I have also read where using My.Computer.System.Directory.GetFiles() instead of System.IO.Directory.GetFiles() is probably not a good thing, but when I change to this I get no error, but also no dataI am thinking I should stay with the strict on and infer off but am really slogging through getting this code correct.Running Win7 on Dual Quad Core XEON Intel Extreme with 8Gb RAM.
I am writing a text editor program and I have written the new, open, save as, exit menu items but I am struggling with writing the save option. Now I have created the menu itself (well vb did, I just used insert standard items) but how do I code up the save menu option so that it updates the current document or if the documnt has not yet been saved bring up the save file dialog. Here is the code I have so far
Public Class Main
Private Sub NewToolStripButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles NewToolStripButton.Click, NewToolStripMenuItem.Click[code]....
I know I have some finishing touches such as messages and error handling and stuff but at the moment I want to get all the basics working,I think the save menu option is all I am struggling with at the moment.
Using VS2008, targetting framework 3.5, trying to update some VB4 code. Yes, VB4.I have a bunch of legacy code I'm trying to update, and I had the idea of trying to work through it by executing the old code, working out what was causing each error as I came to it, solving the problem, and then moving on.In order to do this, I have sinned and set Option Strict Off, Option Explicit Off and Option Infer On.Yes, I'm going to hell for this.Problem is, I'm still getthing errors that various things haven't been declared. All of these the items showing errors are in the form: itemName(obj)Is my problem that the compiler thinks that these are method calls for methods which haven't been declared?PS: For anyone wanting to tell me not to use these settings, I already know
View 2 RepliesI have to take over a project written in vb.net, which contains more than 400k lines of code written in option strict off mode. I want to build it under option strict on first before I do anything else -- which maybe converting it into C#. I found there's thousands of lines of code raises compilation error, mostly are about implicit type casts. Is there any tool would help to make it compile under option strict on mode if I don't want to correct every single line manually? Because it's really painful to add CStr/CInt invocation into every line of Code myself.
