View 2 RepliesI have a datatable populated from an SQL Server 2008 database table. I created a DataAdapter with a commandbuilder to manage the updating, inserting, and deleting of records. The Updating and Inserting work as expected. However, Delete does not. The code runs through just fine without any errors. The number of records in the datatable after the row is deleted even reflects the deletion. The DataAdapter.Update works fine without any exceptions. But when checking the actual table in the SQL DB the deleted record is still there.Here are the parts of my code that deal with this table.

I don't know why, but every time I try to update (by clicking on the update button), every thing is not updated, the page would refresh then the records still remain the same in the GridView. As for delete, when I clicked on the 'delete' button, the record is not deleted, it still remains there.

Note my add is working perfectly fine. I just can find the error on my delete and update. Also I have used this to view it to my datagrid I don't know if its the right thing but it's working fine too.

Another thing is how to code each textbox and combobox to bind it to my records so that when I click on the datagridview each column will be distributed on each respective textbox.
i have a simple application which can create/update/delete/search records using Access database. If i add a record, save it, then close the application and run it again and search for that record, it appears. However, when i write some code to my application, nothing to do with the search function, and i run the application the record is not found. For example i added a button to clear the textfields, and when i ran the application the records i have added earlier were not found.

The two text boxes are txtFName.text and txtLName.Text. I am using a Class_SQL that gets the table, creates the DataAdapter and DataTable.I have a combobox named cboFullname. I can fill the combobox with data from the database, ie: Dim sqlcmdtext As String = "SELECT *, Firstname + ' ' + Surname AS Fullname From Contacts". I can display full records in a datagridview.
I would like to be able to select a name from the combobox and have the record text boxes display the data and be changed with the cbofullname index changed subroutine. Here is my current code to date:

View 7 Repliesive got code like the code below that creates textboxes dynamically. I want to be able to click a button and delete all of these textboxes i make, however im not sure how to do this. When i tell the program to remove the TBIndex control it does not do anything. The only way i get it to work is if i put the command in the same sub as this code. This code runs in a loop by the way.
So if the loop runs one time and creates the TBIndex control and i have a line of code right after to remove the textbox, then it does not show up on my form. But if i put the command in to remove the textboxes somewhere else and run the code the loop runs abunch of times and creates all teh textboxes and the loop is complete, then the remove control part is called and nothing happens. I just need a way to clear all the textboxes off my form with like a button. I also tried painting over the textboxes with a big grey rectangle but that dindt work.

I have code which saves DGV contents including check box columns as a comma separated text file. I also have correct code which will take the text file and re-insert it into the DGV at a later time. This all works.When I'm working on the DGV, I have this

So that when the check box is true, columns 1 and 3 turn different colours, and when false, go to a yellow colour.However, when I "re-insert" my DGV info from my text file, the check boxes come back correctly - as true and false on the right rows - but columns 1 and 3 don't change colour. I've tried a "DataGridView1.Refresh" option but not getting it to work.The DGV is unbound. I need it to recognise which check boxes are true and update automatically when the information is opened from a text file.

View 3 RepliesI am working on a program using VB.Net 2010 which will enable me to setup groups of files & folders for back up with syncing capabilities etc. I have a concept program which is based on some sample code I found out in one of the VB.Net forums. I have modified it from a command line based program to a form based program. At the moment I consider this code to be a "concept" program which once I have the various copy/sync routines developed and debugged will be integrated in to another program I wrote for
creating "Back Up" groups to automate the process. There are some 3rd party programs that do similar things that I want to do such as Microsofts Sync Toy, but none of them offer the grouping and exclusions options that I am going to program in to this backup/sync program.
So here is my problem, I have the included code taking two folders, a source and a destination, and copying everything from the source to the destination. It will skip over any unchanged files/folders and will delete anything found in the destination folder that is not found in the source folder and it will update all files in the destination folder that have a newer version in the source folder. In other words it will mirror image the source to the destination but will be smart enough not to copy unchanged items from the source to the destination thereby saving a lot of time. The sync part of the program is working fine, the displaying of the progress and results is not.

I don't know if you can tell what I am trying to do here, so I will try to explain. I what to create for random numbers and place them into for different text boxes. I also would like to do this with combo boxes and their selected indexes. So if the combo box has 10 items in it; the new selected index would be the random number generated above.

This involves the customer giving the employee information such as name, address, postcode etc and the employee inputting that information into text boxes and combo boxes that are in the application.
What I would like to be able to do is after the customers information is given over the phone, I need to be able to send that information to a database which will probably most likely be done by button click. In this case, I'm using Microsoft Access. I'm also hoping that I can do this within Visual Basic coding.
The database is set out with multiple tables which include a customer table and a ticket table and both have multiple fields such as first name, surname in the customers table. Both of these tables are in use with the information that the customer gives over the phone.
