Display Records Searched In Text Boxes To A Datagrid?

I am creating an application which will allow users to search parents names and display their childen respectively in a datagrid.I have created a form with two text boxes, a search button and a datagrid. The two text boxes are txtFName.text and txtLName.Text. On clicking btnSearch I want to be able to run a search to the SQL database for specific records.So far I have been sucessful in doing so with a listbox but I would prefer to have the data populating in a datagrid as it is more cleaner.

I have created a database with a couple of records to get started, also I have attemted to implement the database in my forms. I want to add, delete, edit and save new records into the database so when I use it or re open the program the entered data will still be there. Also, after I have implemented these things, I would like to be able to import data from the database into textfields or comboboxes. I have a basic email client and I would like to import these contacts into the datafields. However, I will be trying to achieve that later.I am trying not to use the data connection wizards as I am learning the code as I go along. I have been reading up on databases for about 2 days not and i'm still struggling.This is to add contacts with the fields.I have 7 labels with text boxes, using the naming convention lblFName or txtFName etc;
-First Name,
-Last Name,
-Nickname,
-Email,
-Phone number,
-Address and
-DOB
I have 4 buttons;
-Add record
-Delete record
-Save record
-Next record
-Previous record
I don't know whether to use datagridview, listboxes or something else to display the records.This is to give you an idea of what I have done so far.However, I cannot find a way; despite my best efforts over the last 5 days to link the database that is located in the same folder as my program.If anyone could point me in the right direction on how to code this into my program, or post some links of which I can read, learn and understand the code.

mycls.Showdata is a function that in a class that i used to display data.. what i want is to create a progress bar that indicates the actual loading of the data to the grid.. cause it has some delay in displaying if data is to large..

I am using a Class_SQL that gets the table, creates the DataAdapter and DataTable.I have a combobox named cboFullname. I can fill the combobox with data from the database, ie: Dim sqlcmdtext As String = "SELECT *, Firstname + ' ' + Surname AS Fullname From Contacts". I can display full records in a datagridview.
I would like to be able to select a name from the combobox and have the record text boxes display the data and be changed with the cbofullname index changed subroutine. Here is my current code to date:

so i have this data grid, which i wanna search , base on specific criteria from two or more text boxes; eg a user wants to search employees from karachi, so they enter karachi in the first text box. now they want to search employees from karachi whose status is permanent, so they enter permanent in the second text box, and the data grid shows employees from karachi whose status is permanent.

The program I am making requires the user to select what units he will be using. But it has to be able to convert his entered units and display them in the text boxes at all times during run-time. My program add information from textboxes (firstname, lastname..) to list box and i have it display like this ( all information in one line separate by space):

I have designed my form like this it has a combo box and several text boxes. In the form load I want to load the customer IDs of my customer table into my Combo box.Customer IDs data type is varchar and this part is working in my form.The next thing that I want to do is if a user select a single user ID from the combo box I need to display the first name last name and there are several fields of that selected customer id in the text boxes.If anyone can help me in this it'll be a great help.I have designed my data base in sql server 2008 and I'm using visual studio 2008.I added a new sqldata adapter and I created the data set.But I want to know how to pass the selected id of the combo box as the select parameter of sql statement and how to bind data to the text boxes.

I am trying to display the content of the text box according the number of records in the database. When i do it manually it works but when i do it through the "for" loop i am confused. my code is as below

How to query a record in vb.net using combo or textbox via linq to sql like the search engine? Just like when you search in google or youtube, once you typed in the initial string on the textbox or combo box it will show a drop-down list. I tried to use it in my application using linq method but the problem is it would duplicate on the first string that you entered on the dropdownlist if that record exist on your database after you press the space key. I used the code below which duplicates the records on the drop-down list when you type in your string after the space key.
I just want it to be like in any search engine that when you type in the string or your initial string, it will display on the drop-down list all the records from the database that contains the string you entered without duplication. In my case, I'm trying to query a name from my database. This is how it should work, For example, if you type an initial string in the textbox or combo box a named 'Mark', it should display all the names from the database containing 'Mark' into the drop-down list before it changes into its final string that you entered.

My app is a Bible Reader. At load up I can choose Genesis Ch1 and its entirety pops into a rtb. I enter a word to search for like 'God' and hit the SEARCH button. The results I get are initially what I want. I get the verse 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. But then the app replaces the script with other words containing God, but all jumbled up. I am trying to follow the book 'Sams teach yourself VB 2008'. It was going well until the end of hour 4. For exercise 1 I have created the form with a button and two text boxes, but cannot work out the code I need to move text between the two boxes. I created a telephone number form where the user enters the telephone number in a text box as (nnn) nnn-nnnn. The first 3 digits in parenthesis are the ISD code, the next three are the area code and the last four are the local number. I need to separate out these three fields of the phone number and display in three separate text boxes labeled appropriately. Now, suppose the user enters the phone number in a text box as a continuous string of 10 digits, where the first three represent the ISD code, the next three represent the area code and the last four represent the local number.
