Dim oMyObject As New MyObject oMyObject.DoSomething("Parameter1","Parameter2")
The "DoSomething" and the two parameters are dynamically provided from another script. They are stored in a string object in this script: sAction & sParameters. My question is how can I dynamically pass the "sAction" to the object oMyObject. For example oMyObject.sAction (where sAction should be the value stored in the sAction string). The example will probably not work. Is there a way to do this? The idea behind is to avoid having to write each function hardcoded, like:
If sAction = "DoSomething" then oMyObject.DoSomething(sParameters) ElseIf sAction = "AnotherThing" then
I have a class called Item which contains all the information about all parts, finished goods, in process parts (parts made on site), purchased parts, and raw materials.
I have a Bill of Materials table which has the following columns (reflected in the BOM class)
ParentItem ChildItem ChildItemQty
Parent Items can only be Items which have subcomponents.
Child Items can be parts that are made on site, purchased parts that are bought ready made from other companies, or raw materials used to make a part that is made on site.
Parent Items and child Items both inherit the Items class.
I will limit the Parent item class to only items that are in the parent column of the BOM table. I believe I can limit that by doing a quick look up on a view which only shows the parent items.
I will limit the Child Item Class to only items that are in the child column of the BOM table. Same method to limit it by doing a quick look up on a view that shows only the child items.
That way, an instance of the BOM class will have all the detail information about any of it's components available whenever I need them.
I have a 3rd party object that gets passed to one of my methods. The object contains 20 or so string members. How can I easily list all of the string names and their values?
[WebMethod] public Profile synchronize(string MID, DeviceUploadData data)
The object DeviceUploadData has many properties, and a few of them are array's. My question is about the array specifically. It loses it's value once it's received on the webmethod end. This is the property inside DeviceUploadData
Private data() As DataObject Public Property Data() As DataObject() Get
[code]....
So the DataObject is populated with data, then once passed, on the other end, some of the DataObject properties are no longer populated. I haven't included the other properties in this example.
This code works, as is, on my system. Problem lines are commented out. The last three commented lines are the problem. It creates the objects alright but a line that should send a message into the list box doesn't work. I am almost sure that the problem is in passing information into the sub routine. Forgive my use of ALL CAPS as it helps to see my comments on comments. A few comments in passing information to SRs would be helpful.
Also, how it is that I can comment out the .Name option and it still works?(I hope that this shows up properly. If it ends up as a big useless paragraph, I will repost it after learning how to do it properly.
Here is my
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ' -------------------------Create ann exit Button ----------------------------------------------------- Dim btn As New Button
I have the following linq query which returns a Report Object; yet I need to explicitly set the value of one of its proprties from another column. [code]...
I was able to do this via a SELECT CASE statement, however I'm always trying to improve my code writing and was wondering if there was a better approach. Here's the scenario:Each document has x custom fields on it.There's y number of documentsHowever there's only 21 distinct custom fields, but they can obviously have n different combinations of them depending on the form.So here's what I did, I created an object called CustomFields like so:
Private Class CustomFields Public agentaddress As String Public agentattorney As String
I'm trying to create an export Excel/CSV function that will iterate through a custom object and first output the property names and then output the values. I want to use reflection only where necessary so I'm attempting to save the property names when I output the headers and then reuse them to print the values. Is this possible? I'm a little weary of using reflection in a loop but is there a better way?
I accept both C# and VB.NET suggestion, even though I'm writing an app in VB.NET I have two lists of intergers
List1 {1,2,3,5} List2 {2,4,6,7}
I want to have new List3 {4,6,7} which is composed of elements of List2 that are not in List1. I know I can write a nice For Each loop for this but I want it done in LINQ I've been looking for such methods at Enumerable Methods, but I can't find it.
I have a problem with a generic list, which consists of intances of a class i created. I am just amazed, each time I add a new object to the list, it overwrites the previous entries. Here is a code sample, i just can't beleive it. I am using visual studio 2010:
Dim translations As List(Of TranslatedValue) = New List(Of TranslatedValue) If Session("ctlTexts") Is Nothing Then Dim reader As IDataReader = DataAccessFunctions.db.GetDataReader("SELECT [ControlID], [ControlTextEN], [ControlTextDE], [ControlTextBG] FROM [dbo].[tbLanguage]", GetConnectionString)
I have a VB.NET project where I am able to iterate through the keys and values collections of a dictionary object using an index:
MyDictionary.Keys(idx) MyDictionary.Values(idx)
When this code is taken from the test project and placed into the real project I get the following error:
'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary(Of Double, String).KeyCollection' cannot be indexed because it has no default property.[code]...
In the line in sub search that says "dtf.Keys(idx) = 0" place your cursor after the right parenthesis and backspace you should get a tooltip that says, "<Extension> ElementAtOrDefault(index as Integer) as Double - index: the zero based element of the index to retrieve.
I've now properly started implementing OO into my system (which I probably should have done from the start) but I just want to clear some best practices. So let's say I have a class called Job which contains information such as Description, Project Manager (Employee class), Value etc. at the moment, if I initialise the Job class it will initialise all the information held within it, even if I only want the job description. Is it best practice to do this or is it better to implement the class and access the database for values as and when they're needed? Or is it just better in those cases to just access the database directly?
I'm getting a JSON response after accessing a web service with my window application written in VB.NET. How can I convert the JSON response to a VB.NET object and vice versa?
I have some ActiveX that was written for VB6. They all seem to return Variant types. Ex.
[Code]....
In this case the GetPosition control is returning a robot axis position. It looks to me like the values coming back from the function is not getting converted to object type properly.
I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class
Code example:
Public Class derivedObj Inherits baseObj Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......
Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.
Code example:
' property names are in the string array fieldNames
'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj
'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....
Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?
bare with me during this silly example. :-) Let's say I have a class like this:
Public Class Animal Public iLegs as int32 ' Number of legs Public bWings as Boolean ' Wings? Yes/No End Class
And another class that inherits the "Animal" class and adds one more property:
Public Class ScaryAnimal Inherits Animal Public iScariness as int32 ' 0-100, how scary is it? End Class
Now, if I have an instance of "Animal" with some values in it, and I decide I want to cast it to a ScaryAnimal for some reason, how do I do that without having to create a new instance of "ScaryAnimal" and copy each property value?Basically I'm looking for a way to do this, without having to write the lines marked with '*** below:
how to pull the "modifytimestamp" and "CreateTimeStamp" property values from a computer object in AD? These properties are not AD objects but if I do properties("modifytimestamp").value, the return string is that of a collection. When I do properties("modifytimestamp").count it returns 0 as the value so therefore there is no index. How do I return these values?
Public Function GetADComputerData(ByVal ComputerName As String) Dim DC As String = "" Dim s_Domain() As String = Strings.Split(frmMain.Domain, ".")
I am getting following error whenever I want to use IIf function inside entity framework query.
LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object IIf(Boolean, System.Object, System.Object)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression.
I have a DEM file(Digital Elevattion Model File) and I am trying to open the file, where we have Latitude and Longitude values inside the DEM file. And, Now I have opened the file using Filestream and Read the file using BinaryReader. But, I am having a trobule in getting the values of Latitude and Longitude.I am getting Byte values randomly as 1,202,31,271 etc. But, we dont have latitude and longitude values more than 180,and also I am not getting 16 bit UInt values. For example, the values should be like Latitude 20.00416666666667 and Longitude 39.99583333333333.So,read the correct Byte values of the DEM file. The code I have used till now is:
Dim fs As FileStream = New FileStream("C:UsersadminDesktopHeader and DEM fileE020N40.DEM", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read) Dim rd As New BinaryReader(fs) Dim convertDB As UInt16 For i = 0 To rd.BaseStream.Length
lets say I have a form (form1) with lables a-z which are all designed with default text "0". So they all show 0 on program startup. which is fine. I also have a dialog with 2 TextBoxes; I want my program to update the default text/value on (only)form1 labels x, y and z to whatever was put into the textboxes when i press the OK button on the Dialog, so these specified labels show the 'new' value on next startup. Is it even possible or should I save the values to a file which loads the values in the specified labels on startup?
I have simple columns and their respective sums. However, I exclude 1 particular value from each sum, like so [code]...
Now I need to exclude another value ("Awaiting Progression") from a second column called "PROGRESSION".
Since I already exclude value based on 1 column called CATEGORY, how do I change my =Sum(Code.ExcludeOthers(Fields!CATEGORY.Value,Fields!ACTION_PLAN_NEW.Value)) to exclude a value from the PROGRESSION column if it's = ("Awaiting Progression") ?
i.e. How do I exclude multiple values, depending on values in 2 columns in SSRS 2005?
