How would you add data source to your combobox from a combobox that is connected to the access atabase?they are both ın the same form of course and the software language ıs Visual Basic. I ve got two comboboxes that I need to connect with eachother combobox1 is showing the "itemsonsell" from the "table_items" table from my access database, the second one should show the "prices" value from "table_items" depending on which "itemsonsell" item is chosen on combobox1,I ve done the solution below,but it didnt seem to be working,it is showing all the "prices" that are under the "table_items" table's "prices" class.

I'm using VB 2008 Express I have 2 Comboboxes, and an Access Database with 5 coloums, I have managed to connect to the database and populate the first combobox.But I then wish to use the second combobox to filter the data further. ie 5 coloumns Country, City, Cinemas, address, Tel.no I wish to use the first combo to select Country, then use the second to select city so that if there is more than 1 city in the country coloumn I can select it and then I wish to display the results of the other coloumns in textboxes/labels

I have an edit Contact Form that pulls data from access and loads it into textboxes and comboboxes. The text is working fine, but I am trying to pull a number from the ddatabase and display that value in a combobox that already has selections in it, so the user can edit it. I'm trying to connect a VB application (2010) to an MS Access DB by adding a data source from the data menu but I receive this error message "The connection you selected uses a local data file that is not in the current project.Would you like to copy the file to your project and modify the connection ?
If you copy the data file to your project, it will be copied to the project's output directory each time you run the application" and the options are (yes , No , Help)
If I choose Yes I will not be able to make the application 'device independent ' since it will not be copied under the bin , and if I choose No , changes won't be applied to the DB

I need to connect Access 2007 Data base using VB.net application. (This is an AddIn working underAutodesk Inventor 2012 64 Bit).When I use a ODBC DSN (under C:WindowsSysWow64) I need to compile the application with targetas x86. But Inventor 2012 64 bit needs target as x64 or Any CPU. So ODBC - DSN not working. When I tried OLEDB as "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=database.mdb"It returns with an error Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 not registered.
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0; Data Source=c:database.accdb;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password;"
This also gives the same error.

I am an old VB2 programmer and in the process of moving up. In VB2 I could obtain a data row via and index on an access table. I can not find an example on how to do this. I can retrieve a single row using a query, but an index would be faster. I know in Oracle use can use a hirt to direct the query to use the index.Here is what I was during in VB2 (Sample) with no hint.

I wonder if it is possible to find a specific row and specific columns in data base file (Access) . You see , I am using a DataGridView control to show only SOME of the columns (fields) of a table from an Access file . For example , lets say that in the DataGridView control I only show the following fields :Field1 , Field2 and Field3 .Now , when the user selects an entry in the DataGridView control , I want to insert the text from Field4 into a text box on the form .
The problem , however , is that I don't know how to get the specific row in the data base file and also I don't know how to get the text in column (field) Field4 of that row .One thing that might be important is that the index of the row in the data base file is not necessarily the same with the index of the current row in the DataGridView control . This is because in the DataGridView control the rows are order by the contents in the ID Field .ol .

I have already binded a data source from Access to my visual basic program but need to add a True/False column to two of the tables. I could do this manually in access and re-bind the sources but that would take up too much of my time so I wanted to know if I'm using the proper code to add a column to the data table directly from VB? I have a Visual Basic 2008 Windows form application that processes some scores and data. I want to export the data to an Access database. I have created the Access database and connected it to the VB program.I am looking for a simple set of commands or sample code to add records to the database. Perhaps I am oversimplifying the problem, but it seems like it should be so much easier than it has proven to be. I only want to export the data in code; the user should never see the database or do anything to it while the program is running.

I will start off here by asking the question. How do I make the data from a database be bound to my project? I keep trying to add a new data source so that I can drag and drop things to my form, but I am unable to. I follow the steps, choosing an OLE DB, the file's location (D:Data Connected Applicationsfile name) The conecting string looks like: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="D:Data Connected ApplicationsItem_Database_A.accdb". The apostrophe is used to separate data when adding records to an Access Database data table using the "INSERT INTO" SQL statement. Having apostrophes in the data really screws things up with this new software. Is there a simple workaround? Is it possible to specify a different character? Is it possible to add data without using SQL Statements? I also noticed that the new OleDbDataAdapter Add Method generates the same SQL Error because it apparently creates an "INSERT INTO" SQL Statement.gh

I've run into a bit of a roadblock trying to figure out how to programmatically not allow the same data in multiple comboboxes. I'm usnig VS2008 and I have 3 comboboxes on a form, all with the same data, say "apple", "orange", and "red". The comboboxes are nothing more than a user definable sorting method on which gets calculated first. When I use the .SelectedItemChanged event on any of these, I'll obviously be duplicating. Any idea on how I can program to automatically switch the combobox that is duplicated to the value that is missing? I don't want to hard code it as further down the road I will have up to 7 comboboxes. Below is what I started with coding. Not sure if it is the best way to go about it, but it works on 4 of the 6 combinations.

I am having difficulty trying to fill two different comboboxes (cbo) with data from a database. More accurately, the 1st cbo gets filled correctly, but when I attempt to do something similar with the second, I'm getting an error about not being able to use the & Operator in my SQL string (Operator is not defined for string and DataRowView types). So evidently the SelectValue from my combobox isn't acting the way I expect.
The overall goal of what I am attempting to do is to fill two cbo's, one with a list of contracts and a second as a list of parts given the selected contract from the first cbo. There are 3 tables in the database that I am drawing the data from: the "contract" table, the "parts" table, and a bridge table called "partList" that has foreign keys pointing to the two other tables. The first cbo is a basic query to the "contract" table using "ContractName" as the display member and "idContract" as the value member. The 2nd cbo I would like to display the name of the part from the "parts" table but use the id of the part from the "partsList" table, and to further filter this list based on what contract was selected.
I am writing the code in VB.Net from VS 2010, storing the data in a MySQL DB, and using a DBFactory to create all the components from ".GetFactory(MySql.Data.MySqlClient)"Below is the code that has the two places I am attempting to fill the two cbo's. Also if there is a better way to handle this, please let me know.
