I am trying to move over vb6 code that worked through arrays of comboboxes.I have a panel that has 18 comboboxes that each need to be populated the same.I first clear the combo boxes and it loops through them, but keeps going until it gets an error.Likewise on sFillLotNO, it adds the first foundrow to each but bombs out when it tries to get the 19th.[code]

how you populate cascading comboboxes? I have one combobox on one form, from which I'm trying to populate another combobox on another form. The first combobox contains Locations while the second combobox contains offices for whichever location is selected in the first combobox. I would like it to work as follows: user clicks on first combobox to select a location, and then the second combobox lists all the offices for that location. As of right now, the second combobox is just displaying the first office that is in the first record for the respective database table it is pulling from.

How I can populate a combobox (combobox2) based on the selection made from another combobox (combobox1)? They are on different forms. Combobox1 lists locations, while combobox2 lists offices for each location. I would like it to work so that when the user clicks on combobox1 and makes a selection, the 2nd form loads with combobox2 showing all the offices for the selected location.

I am developing a Windows application in Visual Studio 2005, V2.0 using VB.NET. I am coding part of an Emergency Response Information System. On my form, I have two combo boxes (cboBaseStationID and cboPriority). I am trying to populate the datagrid with records from my database based on what is selected in both comboboxes.
For the first combobox, the user selects a name so the datagrid must only show records with that name. For the second combobox, this is a little more complicated. There are four emergency priorities in the combobox that the user can choose - 1, 2, 3, 4. In the database, there are different response teams (to be dispatched to these emergencies) and each response team has a grade of either 1, 2 or 3. [Code]

I have a relatively simple application that uses a series of combo boxes to ask questions. These combo boxes are bound to a table with 2 columns in it "RSN" and "RSN_ID". I'm using one table adapter to feed the form (and these boxes) once the main form is loaded. The problem I'm having is when I change one of the boxes, they all change to the same value, almost like they have the exact data source (which they do) but shouldn't you be able to make different selections even using the same table adapter? I have to run 20 queries at loadtime, or create 20 table adapters.
My current setup is like this:
Data Source: table that feeds the combobox
Display Member: RSN (from combo box table)
Value Member: RSN_ID(from combo box table)
Selected Value: Form's main binding source, unique to each combo box, where the selection is actually saved.
This works perfect when using one combobox, but as soon as I bound all of them I ran across this...

I have four comboboxes in my Ist form related to course as.c_type,c_stream,c_major,c_nature.......combobox c_type contains the type of courses like degree, diploma, PG etc, similarly "c_stream" contains stream like engg, medical etc. further c_major contains all courses like computer engg(CE),mechnical(ME), physiotherapy etc. and last c_nature has course nature whether regular or private or distance. Now situation is when i select diploma from c_type, corresponding options must be populate in c_stream like engg. And now when i select engg., CE or ME must be there in c_major combobox .Same is for C_nature.The all 4 combobox must show "please select" text on form load event..i also have 2nd form where i have same combobxs. so is there any way to call the same code without again writing that to 2nd form.

Im new to vb.net and would like to know the very basics on how a datagridview works? how does it populate data from the database? what process does vb follow to update this datagridview? I'm trying to get my head around the following terms and need some explaining how they work and how they are linked? if possible, is there a link to a diagram that explains this?

I have a datagridview and the datasource is a database query. This query takes data from multiple tables within the database.
When I run the project the data loads to the datagridview fine. However, the system needs to allow the user to update data shown in the datagrid and save it.
I've been messing with this for ages now and it is still not saving correctly. Here is the code behind the save button:
Private Sub btnSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSave.Click
Dim strUpdate As String = "Update tblAttendance set Reasonforabsence = @Reason For Absence"

I am working in vb.net and i have a simple requirement. I have added a MDB file to a dataset and it contains 21 tables. I have a datagridview and a combobox on my form. I was able to get the combobox populated with the table names available in the dataset by iterating through dataset.tables. Now i want to add the feature where the user can select the table name from the combo and then it should populate the contents of that table. I tried the following Code

I have a little big problem in one application.
I have a datagridview with data from a datatable, this datatable have these fields (id,num1,num2, date, user, ref,qt,cost, center), some of them are hided in the dgv (id,num1,num2,date,user). The user can edit, delete and add new rows to the dgv.
I have a save button that performs this actions:
First check if there are new rows, and if yes it fill the hidden fields. Then validate the inserted values by the user with a couple of ifs. In the end, i call the bindingsource EndEdit, and call the adapter Update command against the datatable...
This sometimes works others not really, i don't understand why.
The error it's: "Concurrency violation: the DeleteCommand affected 0 of the expected 1 records"
I think sometimes when Updating it occurs to.

I am sorry to keep bothering you about this damn DataGridView control ... As you might have noticed I am having a hard time with the DataGridView control ... My latest problem has to do with updating the data base file (Access) through a DataGridView control .
Up to now I have managed to successfully edit an entry in the DataGridView control and moreover to successfully update the data base file itself .
The above form and its code work fine . The problem starts when I am trying to run the code of the Update button from another form .
You see , I have another form , through which I change the contents of some of the cells in the DataGridView control (back in Form1) . What I want next is to simply update the data base file itself , just like I was doing with the button in the first form , after I manually changed the cell in the DataGridView control .Thus , on the second form I have a button with this code :
Form1.Button1_Click(Nothing, Nothing) (of course the Click event is declared public)I have also tried :
Form1.Button1.PerformClick()
but still nothing ...Although Form2 successfully changes the cells back in Form1 , the data base file itself does not get updated ...If I manually press the Update button in Form1 I once again successfully update the data base file , but I want to do the whole thing by calling the Update button from Form2 .

I have a vb.net window app that has a number of combo boxes on it. These are being populated from a number of XML files and all this works like a charm. The problem i have is when it comes to putting the comboboxes in a datagridview. I have set up my columns and have set the first column to be a combobox but i'm having problems referencing this so that i can set the datasource to populate it.
I've looked everywhere but cant seem to find how to reference this control. Once this has been selected it will populate a second combo box based on the data from the first. I think i can sort this out, if i could only work out how to set the datasource of the first combo programatically.

What I want to do is use two drop down comboxes (Comboboxes 1 & 2)in tandem in a databound datagridview. Both comboboxes are bound to tables in an SQL 2005 database.By this I mean select an item in combobox 1 and have its display member appear in that combobox. This is usually text. The value member for combobox 1 to be displayed in the combobox 2 which is also text. The value member from combobox 1 has identical values to the display member of combobox 2 in the database tables. If I need to change the display member in combobox 2, as all situations have their exceptions, I want to do this without changing combobox 1.The value member for combobox 2 is numeric and is put into another cell in the DGV for carrying out calculations.I have managed to get the display of combobox 1 working on its own and ignoring the value member.I have done the same with combobox 2 and have the value member working correctly.
Can databound comboboxes be used in this manner or will VB.net not allow this type of operation.I have not done this with any code. I tried to get my required operation through the edit facility in the DGV.When attempting to run the program, it does not compile and throws an error which basically says "You have done something wrong.Sort it out."Typical Microsoft help! Can it be done using code in the datasets or binding sources?

I have three comboboxes in a form. The first is the parent of the second, which is the parent of the third. When they are all updated, a datagridview should be updated.
The problem is that the user can choose to change the value of either combobox, so I don't know which combobox's value is being changed. Therefore I now update the datagridview from the third combobox's selectedvaluechanged event. This unfortunately means that if the first combobox is changed, the second and third comboboxes selectedvalue events must trigger. As a consequence, when the first combobox is changed, the datagridview is being updated about six times (which doesn't work for me performancewise).
What I'd like to do is to call the updatedatagridview sub from either one of the three comboboxes, but only if the user has chosen to change that specific combobox's value (that is, get the form to only update the datagridview when the selectedvalues of all three comboboxes have been set).

How would you add data source to your combobox from a combobox that is connected to the access atabase?they are both ın the same form of course and the software language ıs Visual Basic. I ve got two comboboxes that I need to connect with eachother combobox1 is showing the "itemsonsell" from the "table_items" table from my access database, the second one should show the "prices" value from "table_items" depending on which "itemsonsell" item is chosen on combobox1,I ve done the solution below, but it didnt seem to be working,it is showing all the "prices" that are under the "table_items" table's "prices" class.

this is a subset of a previously posted problem, I have narrowed down my issue and am reposting a question from this thread: [URL] I have apparently confused the compiler by renaming some comboboxes in Visual Basic .net express? (See relevant code below) I think the confusion is in who should handle what, with two routines named with variations of ComboBox1 and one handling the other ( it confuses me just trying to interpret it mentally):
