Im new to vb.net and would like to know the very basics on how a datagridview works? how does it populate data from the database? what process does vb follow to update this datagridview? I'm trying to get my head around the following terms and need some explaining how they work and how they are linked? if possible, is there a link to a diagram that explains this?

I have made DataGridView in the designers and connected an Access database to the datagridvies and the Column headers appear as they should and when I check in preview mode all the fields are correctly populated. However, the DataGrid is not populated in normal mode at all. I have been trying to run the project but nothing is happening. What can I do to populate the field.

I'm writing my first Vb application and have come to a grinding halt... I've created a windows form which has got a datagridview (which is populated by a tableadapter and a dataset generated from a SQL stored procedure) with two columns (Product and Qty), I'm populating the Product Column using a Stored Procedure, the user then adds the quantity. Once they've finished filling everything out they'll then hit a save button and I then need to insert both columns (along with a reference number which I'm getting from a text box) into a table on a sql server.

That how I make things harder although there's a function "DataGridView1.DataSource = myDataTable" and put an sql where selecting those data. However, whenever I select one of the other options and click the Send Request button it "jumps back" to the 2nd entry in the list and sends that data instead, completely ignoring the option I selected.I think I have narrowed down the problem to the fact that the DataValue for the second entry in the list is a Null value.

I have three tables in SQL server which I would like to show and access on a form. Table 1 contains account data, address, contact details etc. Table two contains data attached to a Person, tel no , Mobile no, Email etc. Table three contains details on what awards the person holds, i.e. one person can hold several awards.
Therefore I have a one many relationship between the first two tables and a one many relationship between the second two tables. This is set up in SQL
The first two tables are shown on a form, table 1 via a set of text boxes, table 2 via a datagrid control.
I would like the functionality whereby I could select a row in the datagrid showing the persons name and find the Persons_ID number then use that as a filter to a second datagrid view so that only the selected persons awards show in the datagrid.
I am using VS2008 and SQLite. I have created a database and several tables and am attempting to populate the tables with data from arrays.
The following code (example) works fine but stops after it inserts 30 to 50 records. I am running the VB code in debug mode and when it stops, I press pause to see where it is. It stops on "SQLcommand.ExecuteNonQuery()" and when I press continue (F5) it will insert another 30 to 50 records.
I do not get an error message. Is this a timeout issue? How do I keep the loop running to the end of the array?
