How do I (i) sort the array of type FileInfo returned by the DirectoryInfo.GetFiles method by (file) CreationTime in descending order and (ii) once the array is sorted efficiently load it or convert into a Queue object (of type FileInfo) for subsequent processing. I thought of using the queue object as it handles things on a FIFO out basis and I'll be adding to the queue as new files arrive.
I have a project where I am looping thru specific files in a directory using a For Each FileInfo in DirectoryInfo.GetFiles() statement. My question is if I overwrite the current FileInfo object, will it still retain the reference to the object even though the file is no longer the same?

I am trying to bind a dictionary to a repeater control. I have a dictionary object which is filled with the Key (as String) and values as (Class object). I receive Object reference error when I try to DirectCast() the e.Item.DataItem to a Key-Value pair of that dictionary used for binding repeater. If you check the second screenshot, the e.Item.DataItem value is "Nothing" because of which I am getting Object reference error. What is the reason that the value is e.Item.DataItem is coming as Nothing?

I am using a repeater to build a custom table. However, I can't figure out how to make the table show subtotal if the next rows tour does not match the previous rows.
Something similar to that.

but this shows all the data in the nested repeater not the ones that match the parentrepeater fields for example tour,theme,dep7 should match in the child repeater
I have a parent repeater with nested repeaters.My problem is I am trying to use 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons to rebind my repeater (rptTabContent) and thus the inner repeaters also, but when I try to manipulate the state of these links during the ItemCommand event they are overwritten by the bind.

DirectoryInfo(infos)which takes an input from user, it gives me an ArguementException "Illegal Characters in Path".I tried replacing the variable, checked its value in the msgbox which is fine, but the double quote is added directly when it executes the IO.DirectoryInfo line and throws an exception. (Check the attachment)I have also tried infos.Replace("""",String.Empty) to remove the possible double quote, but it still holds that double quote.And when I use the same variable "infos" with substring to get the Drive, it works fine
I'm making a timer program, that I want to be able to store "unlimited" timer profiles, that someone can load and use. Now I've created a form that you fill with data, which then gets saved to a .xml file in a pre-defined directory. I'm now working on some sort of code that will:
1. Search the directory for .xml files
2. Find any .xml files and convert names to strings
3. Store the strings in a dropdown menu, so that when one is chosen, it loads that profile.

My issue is that rptCrashPercentageAvg reutrns Nothing. How can rptCrashStatsDisplay access rptCrashPercentageAvg?
I am new to programming. I wrote this simple code but it seemed not working at run time. I mean not selecting particular file extensions when I am selecting the particular radio buttons. By default each radio button is set to false on Checked property. Also there is no syntax error.

i am using the getfiles function to have all the files in a specific path but i want to use the getfiles to find .rar and .mp3 getfiles("c:program files",)
It seems like FileSystem.GetFiles() is unable to recover from the UnauthorizedAccessException exception that .Net triggers when trying to access an off-limit directory.In this case, does it mean this class/method isn't useful when scanning a whole drive and I should use some other solution (in which case: Which one?)? If I have a folder with a bunch of ".htm" & ".html" files in it and I use
My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles(myFolder, FileIO.SearchOption.SearchTopLevelOnly, "*.html")it returns all the ".html" files, as expected. I am wondering if there is a simple method to filter the result returned by Directory.GetFiles(). Basically I am looking to retrive all of the jpg files in a selected folder into an array. My current code works fine if the folder only has jpgs in it which should be the case in operation but I would like to make sure it works correctly when the folder contains other types of files as well. files = Directory.GetFiles(IMAGE_DIRECTORY) files is defined as an array earlier in the program and as I mentioned my program works fine when the folder has nothing but jpegs within. The problem is that I am creating a listview with thumbnails from these files and run into some indexing issues when there are non jpgs in the target folder. The easiest solution would seem to be a filter on the getfiles method that would return only files witht he given extension.
Anyone know how to do this or will I need to parse the files out of the array in a second process?
When you do GetFiles() you can specify a search pattern such as *.txt. How can I specify multiple patterns. For example, in windows search you do *.jpg;*.bmp;*.gif. I tried that but no luck and the msdn not work. Is this possible?
