Problem is, when I click a column header the first time, it sorts, but when I click the same header a second time, to sort in reverse, the column stays in the same order as it was just sorted in.

Jul 1, 2009Quick query...I'm trying to scan a long string and return any values that occur between the tags <FileName> and </FileName> I've got a bit of code here to use regular expressions to return the position of the occurunces of both substrings..Just wanted to find out if there is any way to scan for both substrings within one loop (as im currently doing 2, one for the first substring and one for the 2nd) so I can use something along these lines:
ringlist = Mid(XMLRESP, (startloc + 1), (endloc - 1))
MsgBox(ringlist)
to msg box the value between the substrings...either that or another approach to return the value between the 2 substrings (it can be of variable length)

Oct 17, 2010How would I do that? Sample code is below that demonstrated that the file I opened contained the full path and file name.
I want to extract just the path and serialize that to the user.config file as a UserSetting value. Then next time the user opens the dialog box, it uses that saved path string to go immediately to the location previously used.

Get The FileName For The Proces.Start(FileName) Method?
May 27, 2009I have a Listview on my form with different files. I can selet a file en open it with the proces start method. To open the file i use the OpenFileDialog method and select the filename. This work very good. With the code below.
My question is if there is a method to get the selected file without using the OpenFileDialog Box. So when i dubbelclick the selected file the proces will start with open the selected file. Something like:
proc.StartInfo.FileName = Me.SelectedCell.FileName
instead of proc.StartInfo.FileName = Me.OpenFileDialog1.FileName
PS) May be i can preduce the Filename using the OpenFileDialog method on the background.

Jan 5, 2012When I use the code Dim di As New IO.DirectoryInfo("C:")it works fine, but when i use a string variable named "infos" i.e.Dim di As New IO. DirectoryInfo(infos)which takes an input from user, it gives me an ArguementException "Illegal Characters in Path".I tried replacing the variable, checked its value in the msgbox which is fine, but the double quote is added directly when it executes the IO.DirectoryInfo line and throws an exception. (Check the attachment)I have also tried infos.Replace("""",String.Empty) to remove the possible double quote, but it still holds that double quote.And when I use the same variable "infos" with substring to get the Drive, it works fine

Jan 4, 2011I'm making a timer program, that I want to be able to store "unlimited" timer profiles, that someone can load and use. Now I've created a form that you fill with data, which then gets saved to a .xml file in a pre-defined directory. I'm now working on some sort of code that will:
1. Search the directory for .xml files
2. Find any .xml files and convert names to strings
3. Store the strings in a dropdown menu, so that when one is chosen, it loads that profile.
I think I have 1 down:

Feb 18, 2011First I want to tell u all I am an absolute beginner at using VB.NET and other programming languages and am going to start learning VB.NET.What I am trying to accomplisch I couldn't find trough Google I am trying to make a Windows GUI based tool in VB.NET (2010) which deletes files by fileage with some other settings.I have a Form1 with:
TextBox1 - Where I have the output of a slectfolder button
TextBox2 - Where I want to input the File Extention (comma seperated)
DateTimePicker1 - Where the date can be set to delete files before that date
Checkbox3-5 - FileAttributes (Hidden, System and Read-Only)
CheckBox1 - Run in SafeMode (No delete takes place)

...And this asp.net

...But if I want to bind it to a repeater in stead, I would think I could display the filename like this:

Jun 24, 2010How do I (i) sort the array of type FileInfo returned by the DirectoryInfo.GetFiles method by (file) CreationTime in descending order and (ii) once the array is sorted efficiently load it or convert into a Queue object (of type FileInfo) for subsequent processing. I thought of using the queue object as it handles things on a FIFO out basis and I'll be adding to the queue as new files arrive.

Wpf - Sorting Observable Collection Incorrectly Sorting?
Aug 20, 2011I have a WPF ObservableCollection which is bound to a ListBox and I have a Sort() method which when called will convert the ObservableCollection to a List(Of T), and undertakes a sort based on a date/time column within the collection.
The data is sorted, even when new items are added to the ObservableCollection, however the date/time isn't being correctly sorted. The data is sorting based on the date however it is very much random when it comes to the time portion. The following is an example of the outcomes I am experiencing:

Is there anything that I am doing incorrectly in this method that would cause the time portion not be included in the sort? Is there a better way of doing a sort?
C# - DirectoryInfo.Delete(True) Doesn't Delete When Folder Structure Is Open In Windows Explorer

This works fine, unless I have Windows Explorer open and I'm looking at the 'MySubFolder' directory. Then I get an IOException The directory is not empty. - clicking OK dismisses this and then the folder structure is not deleted. Any thoughts on how I can get this to perform correctly (i.e. delete), even when running this code while having the folder struture open in Windows Explorer?

Aug 14, 2010I often use things like the crosshatch in filenames to group them together. Until recently this has not been a problem.
I am working modifing a WPF app which uses a Listbox to store images. I need the full path of the image to feed to a class to retrieve metadata.
The test image is named "# Canon-ixus.jpg".
Using Listbox.SelectedValue to return the filename I get "%23 Canon-ixus.jpg". There are not a whole lot of options to returning the name of the selected item from the Listbox.
Is there any simple way to get the name back to its original form?
