Apr 5, 2009I want to be able to call forth hundreds of different photos be selecting them from a listbox or something of that nature.
Normally, if I only had a few images, I would amke their visibility false and then use If statements to turn on their visibility once it is selected. However, putting hundreds of images on to a form and then changing their visibility, seems like a pain.
I was wondering if there is a way to call forth each photo within the resources folder when an item is clicked so I don't have to put each one directly on the form.

Jan 28, 2011So I'm writing the equality operator overload (Operator =())for a custom object, and the resulting mess of If conditionals is just an eyesore. But so far, it seems like the only sane way to check the values to as to match the specific behavior of this object.
The rules are:Num1 is required, period, and both the left and right operands and must be equal for True. Else, False.Num2 is optional, but if specified, must be present for both the left and right operands, and must be equal for True. Else, False.Num3 is optional, but can only be specified if Num2 is also present. Else, False.Num3, if specified, must be present for both the left and right operands, and must be equal for True. Else, False.

I also know that I could cache elements of the checks into booleans and then use those to reduce the amount of text. But that seems like a waste of cycles just for code readability. So I wanted to know if the SO community had better thoughts on reorganizing it, just in case I'm being too verbose with my checks.

Oct 28, 2010How would you structure a large project with most of the business logic already inside stored procedures?We are moving from classic ASP to ASP.NET (VB) and pretty much all the business logic is inside stored procedures.Getting the logic out of there is pretty much impossible since my boss doesn't want to (too expensive, takes too long, no "real" added value).I was thinking about making a presentation layer made of aspx pages, a business logic / data access layer that would basically get the data and interact with the existing stored procedures and a business entities layer that would be made of classes (for entities and collections) containing the information to interact between those two layers.The reason I wanted to make those layers was to be able to reuse most of the code without duplicating it.

Asp.net - UpdatePanel Inside A Repeater - Update All Rows
Apr 15, 2011I'm trying to speed up my Repeater so that not as much HTML has to be resent via the AJAX UpdatePanel on each call.
So here's what I have (a very much simplified version):

So, when I click 'btnSaveAndCompleteLastStep' I want all the UpdatePanel in 'rptContactSteps' to update. Having the UpdatePanel inside the ItemTemplate should help prevent having to re-load the html/text that populates the Eval("script") & Eval("notes"), since the value of these variables could be very large and over a 3G connection this could be very costly (in time & money).
I though by adding the async trigger it'd work as I have used this type of trigger before, but not when inside the Repeater. Currently the UpdatePanels aren't getting updated at all, except from the one from which the button was pressed.

Dec 2, 2011I have a simple questionnaire system which shows a random number of questions to the user out of a certain total in my database.I have 2 separate tables: Questions and Alternatives (which are the options to answer) related by QuestionID field in both tables. I rendered such questionnaire using Nested Repeaters (parentRepeater for questions and childRepeater for the options) and it shows correctly on the page.Each option is a radio button which I had to use it as a HTML instead of the Standard Server Control <asp:RadioButton> because of the Dynamic ID problem inside a repeater.[code]What I don't know is how do I get all the questions answered by the user given that I don't know the QuestionIDs and the Alternative IDs since it's randomly generated and using a HTML input tags?

Jan 6, 2011However, I recently tried to use it in a repeater. Essentially my company wants to have a number of different values displayed as the main repeater (no problem setting that up). When the user clicks on a field within that repeater, they would like the collapsible panel to open up and display the detail information for that piece of data. The details are within a sub repeater.The repeater functionality and the child repeater functionality are working perfectly. So the repeater and the child repeater aren't the issue. If I take the collapsible panel extender out the data displays perfectly.The problem is that once I start opening and closing the panels, the screen rendering starts to go crazy, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.
For example, on the initial screen rendering I get seven entries. They look perfect. Each of the seven line up across the screen and no extraneous data is shown.I click to open the first row, and it displays great. No problem. But when I then click it again to close the first row, I only see the first four rows of data, then a huge white space with a few seemingly random characters, then the next 2 rows, a smaller whitespace, then the seventh row. I click to open the first row again and everything looks exactly as it should again. Again close, again 4 rows, whitespace, 2 rows whitespace, last row.I reload the page and everything is ok.
So now I click on the second row to open it and everything looks perfect. I close the second row and I get the exact same result.Has anyone ever tried to use the ajax collapsible panel inside a repeater? If so, have you encountered strange rendering behavior such as this? And if so, were you able to get it to work?Here's a stripped down version of the

Apr 30, 2012I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

I added a validation control to trigger when the user doesn't enter a valid date or the text "TBD". How To Bind Dictionary To Repeater Control
Nov 10, 2011I am trying to bind a dictionary to a repeater control. I have a dictionary object which is filled with the Key (as String) and values as (Class object). I receive Object reference error when I try to DirectCast() the e.Item.DataItem to a Key-Value pair of that dictionary used for binding repeater. If you check the second screenshot, the e.Item.DataItem value is "Nothing" because of which I am getting Object reference error. What is the reason that the value is e.Item.DataItem is coming as Nothing?
