I'm trying to speed up my Repeater so that not as much HTML has to be resent via the AJAX UpdatePanel on each call.
So here's what I have (a very much simplified version):

So, when I click 'btnSaveAndCompleteLastStep' I want all the UpdatePanel in 'rptContactSteps' to update. Having the UpdatePanel inside the ItemTemplate should help prevent having to re-load the html/text that populates the Eval("script") & Eval("notes"), since the value of these variables could be very large and over a 3G connection this could be very costly (in time & money).
I though by adding the async trigger it'd work as I have used this type of trigger before, but not when inside the Repeater. Currently the UpdatePanels aren't getting updated at all, except from the one from which the button was pressed.
Why cant i accesss this textbox inside the repeater I have used the following on the rgroups itemdatabind no matter what i do it says the object cannot be referenced.

I'm new to custom server controls and I'm hoping to use them to build various 'modules' for different sites I build to cut down on duplicate code.
I'm familiar with custom user controls in which I can create an .ascx & .ascx.vb file which can then be imported into an .aspx page and used freely.
However, with custom server controls I cannot find a way of using markup/html code. Is this possible at all or must all code be created programmatically?
I have a simple questionnaire system which shows a random number of questions to the user out of a certain total in my database.I have 2 separate tables: Questions and Alternatives (which are the options to answer) related by QuestionID field in both tables. I rendered such questionnaire using Nested Repeaters (parentRepeater for questions and childRepeater for the options) and it shows correctly on the page.Each option is a radio button which I had to use it as a HTML instead of the Standard Server Control <asp:RadioButton> because of the Dynamic ID problem inside a repeater.[code]What I don't know is how do I get all the questions answered by the user given that I don't know the QuestionIDs and the Alternative IDs since it's randomly generated and using a HTML input tags?
View 1 RepliesHowever, I recently tried to use it in a repeater. Essentially my company wants to have a number of different values displayed as the main repeater (no problem setting that up). When the user clicks on a field within that repeater, they would like the collapsible panel to open up and display the detail information for that piece of data. The details are within a sub repeater.The repeater functionality and the child repeater functionality are working perfectly. So the repeater and the child repeater aren't the issue. If I take the collapsible panel extender out the data displays perfectly.The problem is that once I start opening and closing the panels, the screen rendering starts to go crazy, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.
For example, on the initial screen rendering I get seven entries. They look perfect. Each of the seven line up across the screen and no extraneous data is shown.I click to open the first row, and it displays great. No problem. But when I then click it again to close the first row, I only see the first four rows of data, then a huge white space with a few seemingly random characters, then the next 2 rows, a smaller whitespace, then the seventh row. I click to open the first row again and everything looks exactly as it should again. Again close, again 4 rows, whitespace, 2 rows whitespace, last row.I reload the page and everything is ok.
So now I click on the second row to open it and everything looks perfect. I close the second row and I get the exact same result.Has anyone ever tried to use the ajax collapsible panel inside a repeater? If so, have you encountered strange rendering behavior such as this? View 1 RepliesI have some code that I've inherited, and it's not the greatest in the world, but it works, with one small exception:
This page is a directory search, it has controls identified by record ID, however there exists a situation where there can be more than one result with the same record ID, thus making .NET barf. I had originally implemented a check that just didn't put the control on the page, if it was already there, but we've been getting negative feedback.
My question is this: Is there a way to put the same control in two places at once, for instance having if a user checks one, the corresponding one checks as well? I'm not terribly well versed in how .NET behaves, but I'll try to provide as much additional context as possible, if needed.

I know this is a terrible way to do this, at least from my background, but like I said, this is inherited code that's been hacked to pieces.
I have been trying for ages to put an ActiveX control on a windows form for a CCTV camera I am using. I have registered the control with windows, added it as a reference to my VS2008 project and now it appears in the toolbox.When I put the ActiveX control on the form I always get an error saying "Failed to create back buffer surface" The control is added to the form however I can not get it to work and I suspect it has something to do with this error.I have an example project from the developers of the camera that does not have this problem, i.e. I can add the ActiveX control with no problems, however the program is in C++ and I am using VB.Net.Is there anything else I need to do to stop this error from occurring?I am using a CCTV camera from Zavio (F521E). The ActiveX control is called AxVideoView.ocx.

I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

I am using FindControl to loop through the textbox (to see if user has entered a valid quantity). How can I get the value of the corresponding ProductID ?
I am sure this has had to have been answered somewhere but after looking on the web I cant find anything addressing variables in variables. For instance say I have var1, var2, var3, var4 decalred. How can I create a loop assignment? Something like var & i = "variable 1". So instead of "var1" I have the numeric piece be a variable.
