I am developing an ASPX VB.NET file. My assignment is to convert an integer representing week of the year into that end date. For example, if user selects Week 4 for 2011, I want to get date = 1/22/11. How do I do this in VB.NET?

This program is about converting hours to weeks, days, etc. It doesn't do what it's supposed to do. instead of displaying 0 week, 0 day, and 23 hours it displays 0 week, 1 day and -1 hour.

is there a simple builtin function that i could use to get a date instance from a calendarweek/year-combination?
It should be possible to enter 10w2005 into a TextBox and i'll create the date 07 March 2005 from it.
Monday should be first day and CalendarWeekRule should be FirstFullWeek.
My first approach was:

Given a week number, I need to get the date of the Monday of that week.For example, I have several strings that are stored in a file, such as
"WK 28 2010"
"WK 30 2010"
They could be any any valid week number.
The Monday on Week 28 of the year is 12 July 2010
The Monday on Week 30 of the year is 26 July 2010
Its these dates that I need.
I guess I could create a lookup table, but would prefer a more smarter approach so my software will be future compatible?

View 1 RepliesI have two datetimepicker controls now when I select February 22, 2010 from datetimepicker1 which is Monday I want the other datetimepicker2 to be February 25, 2010 which is Thursday. This means that I want datepicker2 to automatically look for the Thursday value of the week. I have set my week start day as Saturday and ends on Thursday, Friday is holiday.

For example, for this week, monday would be 09/11/2009, and if this were next week it'd be 16/11/2009.
I managed to get somewhere in the forms of code, but all I got was 'cannot convert to Integer' errors. I was using Date.Today and AddDays().
I need to find the date of Monday this week programmatically.For example, for this week Monday was on the 9th, so the date I need is: 09/11/2009.And when we roll over to next week it needs to calculate: 16/11/2009..I have tried doing this myself but I can't see how to do the arithmetic.

The only thing in my book only talks about how to pull the number of days from your bday or pull the full birthday as like the 04/06/1992 would return Monday, April 06, 1992.
In regular SQL i could do something like
SELECT * From T GROUP BY DATEPART(wk, T.Date)
How can i do that in Linq to SQL ?

View 1 RepliesI'm using date in the format dd-mm-yyyy and I need to convert a string inthis format to a date type.My string is "18-01-2010" but when I do the conversion using dim TargetDate as date=CDate(TgDstr).where TgDstr is "18-01-2010", the resutant TargetDate, as note in the debugger window, is #1/18/2010# rather than #18/1/2010# which I expected.What change in code should I made to get the desired result?

I have a problem. I'm making a alarm clock and I need a way of converting a "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss" format into a date time format. This means I'll be able to compare the dates in a listbox using the for each function, to the current date and see whever it has passed and therfore the alarm should be deleted. It is currently in a string form so I can't use < and > to compare it to the current date as that is in a date form. I've tried using CDate but it doesn't work as it only will convert these formats:
"August 12, 2004", "2:07:30 PM" and "August 12, 2004 2:07:30 PM"

View 1 RepliesThis should be really simple and I figured out how to do it in VBA but it's different in .NET. I have a 3 digit Julian date that I would like converted to a regular date (Gregorian). So if the number is 91, then that means April 1st (non-leap year) and if it's 304 then that means October 31st (also non-leap year). In VBA I was using the Day and Month functions to help me get an output to make it mm/dd format.
