Export From DataGridView To Excel Resulting In Incorrectly Formatted Dates

Jul 27, 2011

I'm exporting a datagridview to excel.  The first column is a Date (not DateTime) which appears like '2/15/2011'.  After exporting the datagridview to excel it appears in excel as '2/15/2011 0:00', furthermore the first 68 rows in excel appear as '6/14/1898 12:00:00 AM'.  Where is the time coming from?  The column type in the database is date.  I've attempted to edit the cell style of the datagridview column to date. I've attempted to figure out how to pre-program the formatting in excel, but it's not working either.

Dim wapp As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application
Dim wbook As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Workbook
Dim wsheet As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet

How To Export Selected GridView Rows

Jan 11, 2011

I have a gridview which gets its input from a database with sql. There is a column with checkboxes in the gridview, so you can select which row you want to export. There is also a column that's called "Project Number". When you push the button "Export" the program should figure out which row is selected, get the project number from this row and connect to the database to get the data from the selected projectnumber. I already got the part where it gets the selected checkboxes. But I'm stuck at the part where it gets the projectnumber from the selected row. Must be something with Datakeys I think.

VS 2008 : Writing Contents Of Datagridview In Formatted Colums/rows?

May 19, 2009

I have a datagridview and I'd like to write it to a file in the same type of row and column format it's currently in.My first idea for doing this is to get the maximum number of characters in each column so i know how wide each column has to be formatted. Then loop through each row and write out each row while using the max characters in each column and the current cells content length to do the math to get the formatted columns to line up. Like the example below, except i'd have a lot more in it.

writer.WriteLine("{0,0}{1," & lb(2).Length + 50 - lb(1).Length & "}", lb(1), lb(2))

This takes label(1) and label(2) and writes them so no mater the length of either (to an extent) then will always be right hand aligned in two columns.

I want to add rows inbetween the gridview rows based on the parent and Child Nodes. If i expand the First Parent Node Called "31" then according to the Number of Child Nodes (for first parent node(31) there are 5 child nodes.) add rows in the gridview.

These New rows should be add under the 31-xxxx. If i expand the 32 Parent Node based on number of Child Nodes, add rows under the 32-xxxx. [Code] I am getting the rows in the end of the Gridrow not in the Specific row.

Zip Code Is Dropping Leading Zero When Displayed On Excel. Export To Excel From XML To XSLT Transform?

Aug 16, 2010

I am exporting data from to excel and it is dropping the leading zero when its displayed on excel. How can I avoid the dropping of leading zero? I read the solution of adding a single quote but it makes my excel sheet column ugly. Also users will complain if they see a single quote on zip code code

Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", attachment)
Response.ContentType = "application/"
Response.Charset = ""

the stored procedure outputs XML and it is transformed by XSLT before it is displayed on EXCEL

<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="">
<xsl:template match="/">

adding a single quote or manipulating excel sheet with column formatter (general/numbers ) etc. I don't want user to make any changes on excel to get the display properly when the excel is displayed from web page it should be all set with proper formatting. also we have no control over client excel software?

Other solutions in other thread does not work for me as ="00111" shows up as desired in excel but in the web form it shows up as ="00111" which is not what i want.

My thoughts turned to making an html page, adding it to the project, and then in place of the text box of instructions have a web browser control to load that specific html doc in the project.

The html doc would have all sorts of pretty formatting and what not (bold, bullet points, colors, etc).
