I'm using ASP.NET/VB and I'm trying to insert a date and time into an Access date/time field, but I'm getting an error (Data type mismatch in criteria expression). Here's a simplified version of my code:
Dim myDate As Date = Now()
Dim myIns1 As New OleDbCommand("INSERT INTO tableCourse (date_submitted) VALUES (?)", myConn)
myIns1.Parameters.AddWithValue("@myDate", myDate)
myIns1.ExecuteNonQuery()
Not sure why I'm getting the error, and not quite sure if this is even the correct way to approach inserting the current date. From looking at other similar questions it appears there are a few different ways to do this, but my technical knowledge is kind of limited so I'm having a hard time figuring it out (in other words deciphering the answers that use technical terms I know nothing about).
I am trying to insert date and time in dtime column in oracle database by using this code but it gives me following error ORA-01830 date formate pictures ends before converting entire output.
I can save my data to access database and in the access database field I set it to date/time.But problem is when I get the value out from the database.. the format is always month/day/year hour:minutes:seconds example today: 5/2/2011 12:00:00..How to get the value into listview becoming May/2/2011 without the hour..Here's my code to get it from database ListView1.Items(i).SubItems.Add(dt.Rows(i)(14).ToString).The second problem is.When I would like to edit, how can the datetimepicker get the listview value ? [code] info: using access 2003 (.mdb) the Date of Birth field has been set into Date/Time.
Using VB2010, I am trying to insert a row into an Access 2010 database. The database has several tables, but right now, I'm just trying to insert a row into a standalone table in the database.
I have a VB6 application which has been running succesfully for years under XP, however under Vista data loss has been observed. It appears that if the app is run 'as administrator' then it connects to the correct database file, however if the app. is not run as administrator then vista creates a copy of the database (no idea where) - hence I end up with 2 versions of the database.
In fact I can delete the database file entirely and the app. still works fine because vista is using it's own copy - the problem is how do I back up this 'vista copy' when I can't find it (search doesn't find it).
I have written some code that generates an output file from an external executable. I would like to insert the current date and time into the resulting filename. In the pi.Arguments line (shown below) the /l= creates the output file. I would like the name of the file to be Trustee_Restore_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.TXT.
Private Sub Button5_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button5.Click Dim p As New Process Dim pi As New ProcessStartInfo
[code]....
Everything works, except I would like to insert the date into the output filename.
my sql statement is returning null when when I compare date from access database and date entered in textbox in vb. seems to me that the two dates are of different format so null is returned from the select statement but how do I go about this.[code]
I am trying to get a date/time from an Access table into VB.NET as type Date via a DataGridView. I can format the date/time in the Access database any way that will work. I have formatted the Access column as
hh nn d mmm
and entered a value of 21:00 28 Aug 2010
If I read the DataGridView cell using:
Dim x As Object = dgvTargetList(dgvTargetList.Columns("StartTime").Index, 1).Value
The value for x reports: Date = #12/30/1899 9:00:00 PM#
Apparently the conversion is losing the year value. get a DateTime data type?
I have to develop a project by which my office employees can record their time to enter into the office and leave from the office. I have 10 PCs in my office. All PCs are under network environment. This project is highly related to date and time factor. All PCs are used by an individual employee and can not be restricted to change their own PCs local date and time. So I think my project took the date and time from a central server.
Public Sub cmdSave_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdSave.Click Dim i As Integer
[Code].....
when i click the button, i get a error message saying "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement". as far as i can tell, i have everything i need to insert a new row into the database, and i dont see why this problem is occuring.
item(0) is an autonumber key field, so that should make a new record by itself, and i have declared the input textboxes as the data() array
I created a dataset and i am using OleDbDataAdapter to insert new values to access database. But when i close the program and after open it, values are not in the database. How can i solve this problem? Also, i have another problem. When i write codes that
I'm using a OleDB connection to a access database. I'm entering a row into the database to set some user preferences. What i need to get is get back the row ID of the row I just entered. I'm more familiar with PHP and with PHP I use use this entry
Thought I'd see if Stack overflow is quicker than me testing something while I get a thousand interruptions from other work :)
I'm updating an old VB net application and trying to refactor some of the logic as I go. The app looks for data from a single date across a few tables and writes that view to a file.
Writing the query in SQL I'd get the equivalent of
SELECT * FROM table WHERE CAST(FLOOR(CAST(table.date AS float))AS datetime) = '15-Jul-2010'
Ideally I'd use
SELECT * FROM table WHERE date=@input
and add a date object as a parameter to a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand instance
Are those two comparable? Will I get the results I expect?
I am using VB 2008 and want to record a start date and time and then the stop date and time in a rich text box, i can get the start time into the box but so far can only stop the time instead of 2 seperate times, what i have is a drop down box with a list of computers 1-10 i was trying to get it so you picked a certain computer and that went into the text box then you started the timer and that was recorded, finally you stopped the timer and that was recorded but as i am a total newbie it does not work
i need to get date from database table and compare it either it today or tomoe..after that need to compare time.I got table where the format is 'datetime' contains like = 4/11/2010 12:00:00AM'....so i need to get the date only...how to do that?...when get the date ...ithen i need to compare a time.
I need to import data from Excel into a MySQL 5 database. The format of the column in excel is set to "Time". the field value looks something like this:
17:20:00 If I do this in my vb.net
strTimeIn1 = Trim(jobdt.Rows(j).Item(7).ToString)
I get this in my Immediate window when debugging:
"12/30/1899 4:10:00 PM"
what's the correct way to convert that string to a time value so I can insert into a datetime field in my database with no issues.
