I can save my data to access database and in the access database field I set it to date/time.But problem is when I get the value out from the database.. the format is always month/day/year hour:minutes:seconds example today: 5/2/2011 12:00:00..How to get the value into listview becoming May/2/2011 without the hour..Here's my code to get it from database ListView1.Items(i).SubItems.Add(dt.Rows(i)(14).ToString).The second problem is.When I would like to edit, how can the datetimepicker get the listview value ? [code] info: using access 2003 (.mdb) the Date of Birth field has been set into Date/Time.
View 2 RepliesI'm using ASP.NET/VB and I'm trying to insert a date and time into an Access date/time field, but I'm getting an error (Data type mismatch in criteria expression). Here's a simplified version of my code:
Dim myDate As Date = Now()
Dim myIns1 As New OleDbCommand("INSERT INTO tableCourse (date_submitted) VALUES (?)", myConn)
myIns1.Parameters.AddWithValue("@myDate", myDate)
myIns1.ExecuteNonQuery()
Not sure why I'm getting the error, and not quite sure if this is even the correct way to approach inserting the current date. From looking at other similar questions it appears there are a few different ways to do this, but my technical knowledge is kind of limited so I'm having a hard time figuring it out (in other words deciphering the answers that use technical terms I know nothing about).
I have a VB6 application which has been running succesfully for years under XP, however under Vista data loss has been observed.It appears that if the app is run 'as administrator' then it connects to the correct database file, however if the app. is not run as administrator then vista creates a copy of the database (no idea where) - hence I end up with 2 versions of the database.
In fact I can delete the database file entirely and the app. still works fine because vista is using it's own copy - the problem is how do I back up this 'vista copy' when I can't find it (search doesn't find it).
Im using vb.net and the database is mysql to write a time management system. how i store date and time to the database?
View 2 Repliesmy sql statement is returning null when when I compare date from access database and date entered in textbox in vb. seems to me that the two dates are of different format so null is returned from the select statement but how do I go about this.[code]
View 3 RepliesI am trying to get a date/time from an Access table into VB.NET as type Date via a DataGridView. I can format the date/time in the Access database any way that will work. I have formatted the Access column as
hh nn d mmm
and entered a value of 21:00 28 Aug 2010
If I read the DataGridView cell using:
Dim x
As Object = dgvTargetList(dgvTargetList.Columns("StartTime").Index, 1).Value
The value for x reports: Date = #12/30/1899 9:00:00 PM#
Apparently the conversion is losing the year value. get a DateTime data type?
I have to develop a project by which my office employees can record their time to enter into the office and leave from the office. I have 10 PCs in my office. All PCs are under network environment. This project is highly related to date and time factor. All PCs are used by an individual employee and can not be restricted to change their own PCs local date and time. So I think my project took the date and time from a central server.
View 4 RepliesI am coding ib Visual Basic. I need to store the current system time in MS Access timestamp field. How do I go about it.
Dim row As DataRow = ds.Tables("StudentTable").NewRow
row("SSMA_TimeStamp") = System.DateTime.Now.ToString()
Thought I'd see if Stack overflow is quicker than me testing something while I get a thousand interruptions from other work :)
I'm updating an old VB net application and trying to refactor some of the logic as I go. The app looks for data from a single date across a few tables and writes that view to a file.
Writing the query in SQL I'd get the equivalent of
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE CAST(FLOOR(CAST(table.date AS float))AS datetime) = '15-Jul-2010'
Ideally I'd use
SELECT * FROM table WHERE date=@input
and add a date object as a parameter to a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand instance
Are those two comparable? Will I get the results I expect?
I am using VB 2008 and want to record a start date and time and then the stop date and time in a rich text box, i can get the start time into the box but so far can only stop the time instead of 2 seperate times, what i have is a drop down box with a list of computers 1-10 i was trying to get it so you picked a certain computer and that went into the text box then you started the timer and that was recorded, finally you stopped the timer and that was recorded but as i am a total newbie it does not work

My problem is probably ignorance as to how the DGV works, anyway, the problem.I have a bound datagridview which is used to collect user input. Data for 3 of the 7 fields is entered by looping through the rows and progmatically entering common data anfter a 'Save' Button is pressed:
For I = 0 To DG1.RowCount - 2
DG1.Rows(I).Cells(4).Value = TextBox1.Text 'Operator
DG1.Rows(I).Cells(5).Value = TextBox2.Text 'Date
DG1.Rows(I).Cells(6).Value = TextBox3.Text 'Time[code]....
At this point the DGV looks the way it should...All fields completed correctly and no un used ro except for the new row.After saving :
Me.ItemTableTableAdapter.Update(Me.StockMoveDataSet.ItemTable)
The 'Operator', 'Date', and 'Time' are not saved to the database for the first row only

I fetch data from an SQL Express database table named ALARMLOG to a datagridview1. One of the columns of ALARMLOG is "TheTime" which has datetime data type values. This values are in the following format "22/04/2010 13:23:45 PM".When I fetch the data to the datagridview1 I get "22/04/2010 13:23 PM".The problem is that I can't display the seconds in datagridview1. I tried the CORVERT command of SQL in order to convert from datatime to varchar but nothing...

View 10 RepliesI am trying to import data from an access database to a access database that my project uses I am having problems with combo box fields in the database with the data. I want to import what is displayed instead of the numerical key value. Example: The combo box displays employee names but the value stored is the key value from the employee table so instead of importing John Doe it imports 2 is there a way to make the actual name instead of the number?
View 4 RepliesMay i know what is the code to automatically send the current time or date to database once i click the button? Since i'm using:
Label11.Text = System.DateTime.Today
Label12.Text = TimeString
That mean the time will keep on running.. What i want is when i click the button, the current date and time will be recorded.
I am attempting to use the DateTimePicker and then add a day to each iteration in a For/Next loop. That seems to work fine and I can verify with msgbox that it is happening. However, I also need to write the date in string format to an Access database using INSERT INTO. However, when the code is ran, I get a "syntax error (missing operator)". Code is below. Can someone help please? I have tried all I know to do.(Please disregard the additional values in INSERT TO, I have verified they are working properly)

View 5 RepliesI have the following code to select records from an access table based on a date range. The user is required to select a week ending date (Saturday) from a datetimepicker field.The date field in access is formatted as short.The values in the database range from 12/04/2009 to 2/05/2009. When I select datetimepicker as 2/05/2009 (i.e. 2 May 2008), no rows are returned. Following is the resultant sql statement:
show: Select * FROM Work_Time WHERE WorkerID =1001 AND (WeekDate >=#26/04/2009# AND WeekDate <=#2/05/2009#)
However, if I select datetimepicker as 25/04/2009, the correct numbers of rows are returned. Following is the resultant sql statement:
show: Select * FROM Work_Time WHERE WorkerID =1001 AND (WeekDate >=#19/04/2009# AND WeekDate <=#25/04/2009#)

I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
I created access database while runtime. Now I want to know how to set a time format in that created date/time field. I need to set as Short time for that field.
